Mr. Saltsman is not dumb, he just didn't wake up one morning and decided to send the songs to his buddies. He thought this was OK because he and his RNC buddies have shared racists and sexist remarks many times over. Its just that this time around someone outed him to get a big story and possibly some media-cred because of Mr. Obama's position as the next president. If Obama was not president-elect, we would not have heard of this story!!!!

This sheds more light into what really goes on behind the scenes in the GOP. Its no surprise that the GOP does better in renowned racist areas throughout the country which they call "real patriotic america" than in more diverse, prosperous, and tolerant areas.

This complements the bigotry and chauvinism Ms. Palin was screaming at the top of her lungs during the campaign -"This man does not see American as you and me see it." I wonder who the 'you' is in this statement, it sure ain't majority of Americans!

Someone made a comment about rap singers saying the "N" word and asked what is wrong with others saying it.

First of all, I don't like rappers saying the word and a lot of other blacks like me don't like it. There has been ongoing debate about this, and I wish the word would go away. This still doesn't give professional politicians the right to say these words of hate. They are educated, and should know better. They should be trying to unite us and not separate the country. These words are only causing hate.

It is down right wrong and shame on these people.

QUESTION TO THE RNC, TENNESSEE REPUBLICAN PARTY, RUSH LIMBAUGH, CHIP SALTSMAN, PAUL SHANKLIN, JAMES DOBSON, "FOCUS ON THE FAMILY", "FAMILY RESEARCH COUNCIL", and SOUTHERN CHRISTIAN-EVANGELICALS?

Do advocates of "transparent & thinly veiled racist practice disguised as humor", ever wonder how 35,000 Black fighting servicemen in Iraq and Afghanistan feel about cowards like Rush Limbaugh, Chip Saltsman, and Paul Shanklin disparaging their character back home, while nobody defend their honor?

Whoa... are we censoring? Already? Obama isn't even president yet and I feel a new Sedition Act coming on! I hate the fact that this country has become so Politically Correct! Guess what everyone, Obama is president and he is going to get blasted much like President Bush did throughout his tenure as president [example Texas is missing an idiot]. Hating Saltsman for his "satire" [I haven't heard the song... don't really care to, but I doubt it could be that heinous] is just increasing the political divide. Loosen up and take a joke, laughter is the best medicine...

The song may be a parody or satire, but its very title makes it racial.

This entire incident shows me just how out of step some of the GOP and RNC higher-ups are with the rest of the country.Bet the Dems bring this up during the 2010 elections.

To Lauren:
Many African-American activists, including Rev's Jackson and Sharpton have met with various rappers in the music industry to try to get them to stop using the "N" word, so, it is not as if because rappers say worse things that that makes this not so bad. I think in 2008 it says a lot about our country and how we can or cannot move ahead by what is still enjoyed by many.

Helen in Vermont writes: Yes. However it is too late to realize what Barack Obama is. He is already elected as President without looking at his resume and experience.

Do you honestly think that over the 21 months that Barack Obama campaigned, after hundreds of interviews, dozens of debates (not to mention all the background checking that was required by the State of Illinois and the U.S. Federal governments before he was sworn in as a State and the U.S. Senator, respectively), that his "resume and experience" were not intensely scrutinized, not only by the public, but by the press and countless pundits?

Helen, he's the real deal and our President. He's intelligent, hardworking, understands what it means to serve the people of the United States and yes, he's even a U.S. citizen (it doesn't matter your parents' country of citizenship; if you are born on U.S. soil - and Hawaii has been a state since Friday, August 21, 1959 and Barack Obama was born August 4, 1961 - you are a U.S. citizen),

To everyone like Helen out there - be a patriot, stop whining about your guy not winning, and start lending a hand to help out your country!

I am not saying it is right or wrong,,,

But why is it any different for anyone white person to say Negro,,,
but many, many of the black rap artist and hip hop singers use WAY worse,,, and no one stops them at all. Or even complains.

Sorry, but I do not feel Negro is racist. And the truth is, Obama is not even a Negro,,, he is a half breed.

Why is everyone so shocked by this CD? This is the party that thinks Lee Atwater and his protoge Karl Rove are "brilliant stategists," people who took and continue to take politcal smear tactics to the lowest, most basest level!

Folks, this latest action by the RNC and their lame defense of it is just par for the course. This is what the RNC has degenerated into: a party of hate-mongers and dividers (not to mention incompetent politicians who only care about lining their own and their cronies' pockets).

IS THIS THE RNC's ATTEMPT AT "BIG-TENT INCLUSIVENESS"?

This is interesting that Paul Shanklin (who penned the words to this song) and Chip Saltsman the wannabe RNC Chairman that enthusiastically condones the distribution of the song, takes pleasure in the use of the 1960's term Magic "NEGRO". Negro is a term African-Americans spent years shaking off because of its deep affiliation with Slavery and Jim Crow racism; and a reminder to African-Americans of their victimization to all types of hatred suffer on American soil for nearly 330 years.

WHERE IS JAMES DOBSON, "FOCUS ON THE FAMILY", "FAMILY RESEARCH COUNCIL", and SOUTHERN CHRISTIAN-EVANGELICALS? Oh, I just found them. They are hiding in the "Amen Corner" for Chip Saltsman, Rush Limbaugh, Paul Shanklin, and the Tennessee Republican Party (TNP).

So funny to see the three righties defending this trash. Good! Keep defending it with all your lame "liberal this and liberal that" garbage. You'll just keep alienating more independent voters like you did this time with that pathetic and pitiful ticket you offered the country. I truly get a good laugh at some of the laughable defenses you give to the right and your idiotic flat arguments about Obama.
It will be a generation before you ever get a majority or the white house. So keep going folks! Pound more nails into the coffin of the GOP!

To Independent : December 27th, 2008 6:08 pm ET
First of all, 'Obama the Empty Suit'? And you still want to be taken seriously after that remark? I mean, you still wants to be taken seriously by those who didn't fell for the 'Show us your Birth Certificate Empty Suit', or the 'He's a Muslim! Empty (and Racist) Suit', or the 'He Pals With Terrorists Empty Suit'... and the list goes ON!
Secondly, Sarah Palin is not being mocked up to now because she's a woman, she's from Alaska or whatever that came along with her birth (you know, gender, race, family, place of birth and the likes). First thing I heard about her was 'She's the Governor from Alaska'! Did this phrase made me laugh? No, I am not a bigot or racist or whatever.
What made and still makes me laugh about her? 'Africa is a country', 'I can see Russia from my kitchen's window THEREFORE I can deal with them'...; that comment about areas/regions/states MORE American than other BECAUSE those places VOTED on her and McCain is the kind of thing that you laugh or you start calling names, I choose to laugh. So Sarah Palin is a joke BECAUSE OF HER ACTIONS. Not anything that she had no control about.
And Chip (and you) jokes about a man for he being black...

I'm a democrat and certainly I've never liked republicans, but I find this disturbing because I never thought even republicans would stoop so low. The very fact that Chip Saltsman thought that this would be funny says something about Chip Saltsman. If it's supposed to be a joke, only the most mean-spirited, spiteful, resentful sort of republican would ever find this funny. I'm suprised at Rush Lumbaugh because although I have a very low opinion of Lumbaugh, I didn't think he could stoop so low.

It's almost as if republicans resent the fact that they have to live in this country with people who look, worship, and think differently from them. How does a party that thrives on hatred and fearmongering intend to have a long term future? Spreading hate can only get you so far.

At last! The RNC has made clear what so many members, affiliates, and hangers on of the GOP are, and have been, about for a long, long time: racist, elitist, sexist, xenophobic, greedy, unethical, and, not infrequently, immoral and blasphemous disgraces to the human race. Not all, but a majority. We are waiting for the Saving Remnant to stand up .. and apart ... to make their stand known.

Let me get this straight. The guy who wants to run the Republican National Committee's effort to seat more republicans sends this out to the people he wants to elect him. It's sad; it's stupid and it really makes me sick. This 'mainstream' Republican guy was running Mike Huckabee's campaign?? I am so offended. It is so obvious how the Republicans fell out of power. Thankfully, there aren't enough of you left to vote for yourselves.

Why do people that clearly intent to instigate hatred always afterward claim innocence and/or satire? This is not remotely funny and possibly not even lawful. I've received many emails along these lines from republicans and am time and time again flabbergasted how shameless people abuse the freedom of speech.

Remember that respect has got to be earned and this is not helping anyone.

Pure racism. It's good to see someone on the Republican side condemn this blatantly racist--and totally regrettable show of bad manners. The KKK must be very proud.

The GOP has shown itself to be only marginally smarter than a collection of warm rocks on a windowsill.
.
Consider this: Maybe 40% of the Black community is conservative, or would be, if the GOP would finally dump the racial baggage.
.
But naw! We're too smart for that. Ahyuh! Ahyuh! Ahyuh!
.
Why should we sacrifice "our way of life"** just to pander to minorities! Hedubblehockysticks, even if they did kick our teeth in this last election, along with the rest of America, why should we change our ways?
.
YAH! Sarah Palin / Rush Limbaugh in 2012!

THIS is who republicans REALLY are, they are mean spirited, they are NOT true christians, they're big platforms are taxes -because the don't care about other people and just worry about getting theirs gay marriage - because they are freaked out about sex and at least half of them are latent/closeted homosexuals and an extreme abortion stance that is counterproductive because they are living in a fantasy world of control and NOT actually looking for intelligent healthy birth control (NO ONE is PRO abortion no matter how they like to describe their "enemies") they can make believe this is a joke, THAT is what they do when they get caught (that and blame it on the booze....) but this sort of mean spirited, racist, derisive, divisive ATTACK the other "TEAM" BS is EXACTLY who they are. I pray that things are as they seem and that america is finally starting to realize that this sort of "screw the other guy" mentallity is un american, unchristian and severely detrimental to our country. rush limaugh and his ilk represent our lower selves, the part of us we try to grow out of when we become adults, the republican party is filled with bad people simply put, they roll around in what is our worst traits and seem to take pride in it, I am and always have been registered non aligned but I have never once voted republican thier outlook, selfishness, and simple MEANNESS disgust me, they have severely damaged our nation, I hope the party falls apart from the weight of this sort of crap that they keep piling on, any decent american is appalled and disgusted by this!

So outraged at the Republican hate-mongers and their supporters that I can barely get the words out ...

The "I was just joking" is what the nasty kids learn on the playground in first grade: they go about hitting, kicking, calling names and being totally miserable pieces of humanity and then, when called to account, whine "I was just joking" .... then they become adults (which is not the same as growing up) and swear blood allegiance to the Republican Party!

This vicious song has nothing to do with Obama: Bush can not speak in cohesive sentences and Cheney did shoot his friend. Ok to parody real events: But the GOP is so stupid, they can't manage that small detail!

Shame, shame, shame! Republicans don't want to be part of the solution so they therefore must be part of the problem.

Wow where can I sign up for the party of Hate??? What proud red blood American wouldn't want to be a republican. What other country can you go and be a total village Idiot and, call yourself a major party. Republicans are the direct result of inbreeding, most brother and sisters are also first cousins. God Bless America, backward, stupid, village Idiots republicans.

Way to go GOP!! Don't stop singing your songs, putting up your "we don't get it" adds, or running on the old Gipper theory of winning political races. That way the Dems or Independents are GUARANTEED to win every time..... Biggest bunch of MORONS on the planet I say.....

The RNC has done a great job of alienating voters who know better than to find racially demeaning "jokes" like this funny. Wake up. They'll need much more than just the white christian vote to survive as a party. If you want o make fun of Obama for spending, fine, make fun of him for that. Don't bring race into the equation. Not only is it bigotry, but also political suicide.
