(CNN) - The Obama family is planning to move to Washington this weekend, say two transition officials. “They will stay at a Washington hotel through the 15th and then they will move into the Blair House,” said the first official.
President-elect Barack Obama and wife Michelle are coming to DC early in part to be there for the beginning of school for daughters Malia and Sasha, but will not specify which day that will be.
The officials also note that the President-elect will be in Washington to “continue work on an economic recovery plan.” Democratic officials have previously said they’re expecting the Obama team to get the economic recovery plan to the Hill the first week of January.

Actually, it was ungracious of the Obama's to expect to move into Blair House early, no matter what the reason. The date has always been the 15th. Some of you think Obama and his family are so special that everyone else should just accommodate THEM.
The Bush's have shown incredible hospitality during the transition.
One last thing: what will you Obamabots do when he is criticized and mocked for decisions like YOU trashed Bush? Turn around is fair play...or is it?
God speed to the Obama family. We're glad to have you. And to all of you who aren't so happy about it, GET OVER IT. He is the next President of this great country. If this bothers you, get the heck out and go live in some other country, okay? We don't need you.
On the serious side, It's my hope and prayer that all Americans regardless of party have a safe and Happy New Year. I hope we can come together as a country and unite as one. We have alot to look forward to in the coming year.

This is a little absurd honestly. The location the Obamas were asking to stay in is inside the secret service envelope in the district which makes it among the very few places they really can stay.
Certainly the Bush Administration can afford to host its last few parties somewhere that is mildly less convenient

more days before Mr Obama and his administration begin the real work. They have already been working hard, which is amazing to me ~ never saw such a thing from our leaders. I pray for the Obama family (lot of wacky, angry people out there) and the new administration, as well as all leaders (yes, even Republicans) of our country. I hope that ALL of them will find a way to lead this country out of the current "messes" we are in and do it with trust and good will. Okay, so I can hope...it is a new year...I am ready to start over and give everyone a fresh start, even the Obama haters who hang out on the "Ticker."

The Obama's should get Blair House when all President elects gets it.-and I understand that will be the 15th of January. But this is ridiculous! He's running the transition, hiring a cabinet, White House staffers and an entire government, MOVING, and all this while on vacation!
For most mere mortals, moving would be more than enough to totally stress someone out, but Superman is planning to move THREE times in THREE weeks. To DC, then to Blair House, then to the White House.
Throw in Blagojevich, Cuba, Putin-Medvedev, Bin Laden, Iran, Gaza-Israel, and a power failure in Hawaii, and I have to wonder how he keeps his hair from falling out.

He's the president elect. He has a secret service retinue that checks out ever location he goes to, and does the same for every member of his family. He can't book a room in a hotel like everyone else.

Take your time and do the best you can. I know the task before you are not easy so i will give you the time you need to resolve them. I am a huge fan and excited, but this is not a big deal. This was actually in the media on Dec 12. This is an old story. Tradition has the President Elect moving in to the Blair House on January 15 and that is when it will happen. Plans are already in place for other events. jan 20 will be here soon!
