(CNN) - President-elect Barack Obama will ring in the New Year quietly at the rental home in Hawaii, according to transition spokesman Ben LaBolt. “The Obama family is staying in Kailua, celebrating with friends,” LaBolt said, referring to he part of the island of Oahu where the family has been staying for nearly two weeks.
The Obamas are planning to move into a DC hotel this weekend.

Texas Teacher, You are one of the reasons some parents put their kids in private school or home-school. Not everyone who voted against Obama is prejudiced. We just don't like his voting and non-voting record. Condi Rice would have made a far better President and I would have voted for her gladly (and she is blacker than Obama and I hope that statement does not offend you) but she was wise not to subject herself to the wrath of the liberals. I'm very excited to have this new President. I know he will do great things, is in control and knows how to manage. A very smart man. I wish him all the best for the monumental tasks that will be his responsibility come Jan 20th and from what I've seen on the news, that man, our new President, is going to hit the ground running and start taking care of business. Shame on you, Bush, you could have done so much more.............
