(CNN) - President-elect Barack Obama is set to host the Commander-in-Chief's inaugural ball, an event that honors the country's active duty and reserve military.
It's a tradition that started in 2005 by President Bush, according to the Presidential Inaugural Committee. Invited guests will include Purple Heart recipients, families of fallen heroes, and spouses of deployed military, the committee said.
The ball is set to be held at the National Building Museum on January 20.

Commander in Chief...of what? He couldn't command a string of french fry machines at Burger King....his leadership begins and ends with a newspaper from a liberal college....GOOD JOB libs, putting the trust of the nation, the world's mightiest military in the hands of someone that goes out of his way to condemn firearm rights for honest citizens, refuses to recognize our flag, refuses to visit wounded troops abrood unless the press can photograph him...yeah, great selection, if you want to see our country slip further from a world power into a 3rd world nation. It's already prevelant with the sale of OBama T-shirts on every street corner of every hood in the country.
We've sunk to a new low as a nation for electing someone, who on a regular basis, showed his contempt and hatred for what this country was built on, and still got elected.....you'll see. Go ahead and defend him libs; you're the folks that will have to "get over it," once you see what the real agenda will bring to your door.
I sometimes wonder how obama cuold achieve this postion as he has today , it makes me happey and america can not longer sees as place for certain group.

This ball, and the one to be hosted by the Stafford Foundation, will be the best of all. I salute you again President Obama, and Mr. Stafford. It is worth noting that it was visionary of President Bush to start such a ball. He did something right.
That's nice. Now let's stop sending billions of dollars to Israel that they use to buy weapons to kill Palestinians with! And let's bring the troops home so we don't have to give out any more Purple Hearts! And let's get out of all the places we are not wanted, and spend some money on infrastructure jobs and getting this country out of the hole GWB is throwing us into.

How can something be an "tradition" when it's only taken place once, as part of Bush's second inauguration??? It's a wonderful event, obviously....but a "tradition"?? Please, choose your words more carefully, not only in a puff piece like this but in all your reporting. This is an excellent example of the media using words that imply something very different than reality...I don't trust anything reported by any news outlet anymore – they all use language to intentionally manipulate the readers perception (and increase reader/viewership!)

Traditions happen more than once, and whoever does it the second time – in this case, Obama – makes it a tradition. That is, by doing this Obama is turning it into a tradition.

TCM, please give an example where Obama showed his hatred for this country or showed disrespect for the flag. I was taught to put my hand over my heart while saying the pledge, but to stand at respectful attention while the National Anthem was played. I don't think he has done anything differently. The troops give more than anyone and those who were injured especially deserve this. So do you not attend parties or spend money on yourself and give YOUR money to help others? There are something that aren't necessary, but some are to honor those who truly deserve it. So put a cork in it.
Isn't he spending enough of our taxpayer's money with the inaugural events? I wonder how much money will be spent once his inauguration is over!
As black people we used to live by that old "Boyz In The Hood" movie line that said "there aint no place for a black man in a white man's army" well... we cant say that anymore...I think it is time for us to serve!!!!
