In ten years, if Iraq stabilizes, I bet Bush will be seen as a great president. He spent his entire time in office trying to protect us after 9/11. Really, his entire presidency has been dominated by anti-terrorism, in one form or another.

As ineffective as I think "go-along" Harry Reid may be, I certainly can't disagree with him regarding the presidency of George W. Bush. I just hope we, collectively as Americans, have learned a lesson here (probably not after all the votes McCain/Palin got), can dig ourselves out from this mess, and heal. It's a tall order, sadly.

I can't believe some of you voted for him. Twice! What's that saying? Fool me once shame one me. Fool me twice... I think this was the quote he messed up on too. With the success of the Clinton presidency, the taxpayer SHOULD have paid for that indiscretion. There was plenty in the surplus and no wars to pay for. How many times did he stand in front of audiences and proclaim that he had absolute proof that Saddam Hussein was trying to acquire WMDs? What about his and Rice's comments about the smoking gun would be a nuclear bomb going off in the USA?

Bush and Cheney husbanded intelligence and only presented and acted on the evidence that supported invading Iraq. In the end, all of the reasons Bush gave to invade Iraq were proven false – and admitted as false by Bush and his administration. Over 4000 Americans are now dead, we killed a leader of a country, killed hundreds of thousands of Iraq's citizens, drained our treasury, and all for what? Nothing.

Bush needs to be investigated and held responsible. Everything from refusing to testify under oath to the 9/11 Commission to his statements to the American public in the push for war to the warrantless wiretaps and surveillance on the American public. Every lie needs to be documented and if what he did is found to have been unconstitutional, he must be held accountable.

I can't imagine a worst one! Bush/Cheney really do need to be held accountable for their crimes or a precedent will be set for all future presidents that they can get away with anything!

There is no doubt in my mind that Bush will be considered one of the worst presidents the US has ever had. Leading up to 911 his administration ignored warnings of a terrorist attack against the US, after 911 numerous people and organizations told him Iraq was not involved in 911 and he went to war with them anyway while he should have kept our military fighting the terrorists in Afghanistan. His cronyisim led to the adminstrative failures in the aftermath of Katrina. The economic crisis that is impacting the world is the worst in most of our lifetimes. I believe the biggest problem with Bush is that he would never listen to those who did not agree with him and unfortunely he wasn't all that bright to begin with. He was only elected because of his name.

All I can say to Senator Harry Reid, is the pot should not call the kettle black. The track record of the Senate and the House is pathetic and given the excellent response by President Bush to the 9/11 attack shows his ability to make good decisions and act responsibility. While the Senate stands and takes a stand for an instance, they back pedal so fast they trip over themselves changing positions. The House may have more members and shorter terms but they are running in reverse. I do not think he was a great President and am not sorry to see him leave. But no one man could have done this all by himself. I wish more politicians (both dems and reps) also had the guts to state what they REALLY feel about INEPT AND HARMFUL politicians, like Bush and McCain (the latter, for his stupid VP choice, a big threat to the country, creating an incompetent monster which seems will never go away). More people should say it out loud: Bush and McCain are the most stupid and incompetent politicians in the history of the US. And they are both republicans (coincidence or systemic problem?).

Think about what he dealt with: 9-11, economic woes (twice)(2001-2002 and present day), Israel and Gaza, all of the natural disasters. I would venture to say he is not one of the best but he is not one of the worst. I understand your point of views but keep in mind the war in Iraq was not all of his fault. The congress voted on it and they kept pouring money into it.

Bush is the worst persident we have ever had, not just because of the actions he took (like getting rid of Habeas corpus, starting a false war, stealing an election, all that) but because of the things that he didn't do. For all of those people that say he stopped a second 911 from happening, where was he for the first? He got the brief title Terrorist To Attack Buildinds With PLANES!!!. What did he do? Nothing. As the bottom fell out of the housing market and deregulation caused the banking system to fail, where was he? What did he do? Nothing. He recieved several briefings on the state of the American economy, and still choose to ignore the facts and claim our ecomony was strong. When we look at the state of out country now and the events that lead up to it we have to ask our selves, where was our president? These things didn't just happen, they happened on his watch with him sitting on his hands doing nothing.

There are so many fanatics out there that would love to see the USA and democracy fail. I can safely say that Clinton, Obama, Pelosi and Reid would not have been able to stand with conviction and resolve against the terrorists that want to bring harm to our people (who happen to be American and non-American) and to our country. I think President Bush did the best he can under the circumstances that happened during this time in history. He stood by his word always 100% and always accepted responsibility for his action; what else do you expect in a honorable man. Not all decisions were popular but the job he had was not to please everyone but to lead a country. As a former U.S. Marine that served seven years during his term I am glad to have had him as my Commander and Chief. I served and fought honorably and now I got a high position job in the civilian sector. He is a person that I feel shows true leadership and commitment and is not afraid to speak what he feels is right.

He is an old maid in pants, always quick to point the finger, and equally adept at backing down under pressure. George W. Bush will be seen as the worst president in American history. Just looking at the books that have already been written, and the man hasn't left office yet, speaks volumes (I can only imagine the volumes that are published in the next several years). I would not go that far to say that President Bush has not been a good
leader. You must understand, he has protected our government and we have not had any more attacks in the USA since he has been in office. He's a guy that cannot work with a Democratic congress, either, thinking that conservatism is always right. He's drained the 401Ks and investment accounts that my parents and millions of others like them have been working up for retirement.

In an essay that I wrote for a macro economics course a few years ago, I was all for the republican model. Tax cuts so the money coming back to consumers could be spent to jump start a sluggish economy. Boy did I get my head examined!

I think it will take decades to actually determine if Bush is really the worst or even one of the worst presidents. A president is judged by his actons and the consequences down the road resulting from his actions. If Iraq stabilizes and heads down the path toward democracy, history will have a much different take on his presidency than we do now. It is possible that he will be credited for making the election of Barak Obama even possible. Two years ago there were very few people who believed that 2008 would see us elect a black man as president. It isn't much of a stretch to argue that it was the very failures of the Bush presidency that made America take a chance on a different path. If that path turns out to be successful, historians could very well claim that there could not have been an Obama without there having been a Bush. His every failure as a president could be seen as a necessary prelude in making this year a turning point in our history.

The irony is that George Bush looks like a leader, an intellectual and a real man when compared to Harry Reid. The little wimp should crawl back under the rock where he belongs.

I can agree that President Bush was not the best to have ever hold the office but he was far from the worst. Give me him over Carter and Clinton any day. Carter did nothing good or bad and Clinton brought more shame to the office than anyone cares to remember. You can't blame the president for the current situation as we all know congress really runs the country. The congress has done nothing the past four years and if you are being honest about things they had/have a lower rating than President Bush as far as the job goes. Lets start fresh and let gongress and the new president do we what voted for them to do and that is to run the country for the good of everyone and stop the politics that has ruined this great country. I can't recall a President worse than George W. Bush. Thankfully his campaign promise to privatize Social Security failed. Everytime I think of his plan that called for investing an individual's Social Security money in the stock market I shudder. In 2008 my 401k shrunk down to a 201k.

I think Reid is the worst senator we've ever had. When he said "I believe we've already lost the war" he stabbed every person in the military in the back. He needs to be removed from office.
