Good call... the man is well respected and know how to get things done.

To S Callahan: Vous parlez de quoi?

Are you saying you are a Christian? Did you vote for McCain/Palin or the Green Party? I beg of you: Please Do not come back! Your type attitude is scary. God is love. It's amazing how many different interpretations there are of Christianity. I think I'll stick with the Bible and leave you all to your own follies.

The country of Chile was bought today for 350billion dollars by unknown scam artists that wish to hide there from criminal charges against them, including Treason, war crimes, and theft of the U.S Treasury.

@ MK LA:
Wow. Some people can't stop pinning blame.
A: Hillary's campaign until Super Tuesday was a wreck.
B: Even after Tuesday it was still pretty messed up.
C: Dean was the reason Obama won in states like Indiana (where I worked for him), and NC (where Bush won by 12 points).
Also, TK has done incredible work for the Virginia Democratic Party, and I hope that he runs a similar operation as DNC chair. Kaine/Schweitzer or Kaine/McCaskill, anyone?

spencer   January 4th, 2009 10:35 pm ET

Congrats to Governor Kaine!

dustin   January 4th, 2009 10:35 pm ET

JAE: Seriously? You know is Bushs first few months he set a record for vacation days, i guess your right though, because that did say a lot about him.

Virginia Republican   January 4th, 2009 10:27 pm ET

Yeah! Now we can get a republican governor again!!!

Breck   January 4th, 2009 10:19 pm ET

@Mike: That explains Kaine's good approval ratings.

Lee Canon   January 4th, 2009 10:15 pm ET

I would choke up too at the thought of working with inept, arrogant old cronies like Reid, Pelosi, Frank, Dodd. Please add working with Hillary and Clinton. The Obamas are in trouble. I hope the only honest guy, Richardson get cleared to become Secretary of State. No more from Clinton!!!

Jan Illinois   January 4th, 2009 10:15 pm ET

He has the easy job, it's the republicans who better be looking for "a few good men', and they need new faces of honest, american minded people, and they better do it quickly. They should introduce them now if they want the next election to be remotely close. They better not depend on Palin or they got a looser the next election.

Having lived in Virginia all my life, I think Governor Kaine has done a great job leading this Commonwealth. In fact, the Democrats have done great in turning it around, Warner, Kaine, Webb, etc. So Mike (9:05pm), I don't know where he has been living. I suppose he thinks he is from the "Real" Virginia. This Virginian will miss the Warner-Kaine era in the Commonwealth, but looks forward to continuing the Democrats' good and common sense governance after the 2009 election!

Obama Supporter   January 4th, 2009 9:48 pm ET

Who is Time Kaine? Any relation to Father Time?

M in Richmond, Virginia   January 4th, 2009 9:44 pm ET

I have followed Mr. Kaine all the way back to his days as Mayor (unelected) of Richmond. He is a decent man. However, he is a joke as a politician. The state of Virginia has now seen it's biggest budget shortfall in the states long history. Yeah, I know times are tough, but he was clearly warned that his budget was unrealistic. The city of Richmond's crime rate went through the roof under his leadership. Very ineffective leader. Good luck Dems!

Democrat   January 4th, 2009 9:43 pm ET

aware: Reid, Pelosi, Frank & Dodd are better than any Republican Senator, better than any Republican Mayority or Minority leader or speaker of the house

Congress has not had high ratings in the last years by failures of Republicans & Democrats. BUT, Americans elected almost 60 Democratic Senators and more than 250 Democratic House Representatives.

Apparently Americans still highly regard Democratic congress members!

Unlike your President George W. Bush(78% Disapproval rate, even Clinton had a 56% Approval rate) who is the master of disasters like the economy, hurricane Katrina, both failed wars, betraying CIA agent Valerie Plame and soldiers by not providing armor, infrastructure decay nationwide, stripping citizens rights against corporations and selling out to them, torturing and executing prisoners which only strengthens terrorists, ignoring intelligence before 9/11 and allowing the attack to take place and many more failures.

Bud   January 4th, 2009 9:37 pm ET

"Tim" Kaine.

Griff   January 4th, 2009 9:32 pm ET

Kaine???? A Video Game.... Zork! Nemesis.... Who know differnt???

Brenda   January 4th, 2009 9:23 pm ET

President-Elect Obama,

I can imagine ... but the White House needs you now more than ever! I pray for you and your family and am confident that with the Lord's guidance you will steer this country in the right direction as we have really been out of touch for the last eight years of the Bush administration. We also pray for world peace and the safety of all of us!

God Bless and save move and smooth transition!

Ed Howell   January 4th, 2009 9:23 pm ET

Please fix the glaring typo! The man's name is Tim, not Time.

S Callahan   January 4th, 2009 9:20 pm ET

Does this mean i should go back to being a Democrat...
Tim Kane is a honorable, Christian, caring, hard working, visioned oriented man. May God Bless Your steps Tim as you go forward and may you always seek his will and not your own.

Alicia   January 4th, 2009 9:17 pm ET

Great news!!! I hope it is true. Howard Dean did a great job. YeeHaw, Howard!!!!

Aware @ 8:43, you have the wrong blog. LOL You Repub blogs kill me LOL

Joe   January 4th, 2009 9:16 pm ET

Mike,
Step away from the delusion pipe.
People in Virginia are looking for a change in the way business is done in VA. And Bob McDonnell is not it.

Go back to licking your wounds.

JAE   January 4th, 2009 9:12 pm ET

Obama might have a "soft side" but he's still a Dumbocrat. His "softness" can't and never will hold candles to George Bush. George Bush is a deep man and has VERY deep feelings. You DO NOT get a lip quiver, fighting emotions as President, from forcing it.

We'll just see what Obama does OR doesn't do. The first 100 days, as they say, will say alot.

Dorothy In NC   January 4th, 2009 9:09 pm ET

I never thought Howard Dean should have taken over the reins of the DNC. I think when he lost his bid for the President his credibility was diminished also. The Democratic Party has a real chance to do some real good and has the chance to be THEE party with Obama in. I think we need to have the very best minds in command of the party to advance it even further.

Dave   January 4th, 2009 9:06 pm ET

Way to go Mr. Dean.....YYEEHAW

Who was Michael Connell?   January 4th, 2009 9:06 pm ET

Great for the blue state of Virginia, now lets run the rest of the rebels into the sea.

Mike   January 4th, 2009 9:05 pm ET

People in Virginia can't wait to get rid of Kaine. This appointment shows that Kaine has and will continue to place partisan politics ahead of governing.

The people of this great Commonwealth are ready to elect Attorney General Bob McDonnell as the next Governor of Virginia! This is going to be Kaine's major upset as DNC chairman.

BOB MCDONNELL FOR GOVERNOR!

An English tutor   January 4th, 2009 9:04 pm ET

PA Dem   January 4th, 2009 8:57 pm ET

Good man that Gov. Kaine! I think he will serve well.

MK LA   January 4th, 2009 8:48 pm ET

good. That's one down ( Dean) one to go ( Pelosi) they both should be fired for their anti Hillary agenda this primary.

God Bless Obama in 09
goodbye Howard Dean

Krazy Kaine   January 4th, 2009 8:48 pm ET

I like it. Now the Dems have a leader that looks just like the psycho lead singer of the punk band Prodigy! "I AM THE FIRE STARTER...!"

aware   January 4th, 2009 8:43 pm ET

I would choke up too at the thought of working with inept, arrogant old cronies like Reid, Pelosi, Frank, Dodd...! :(

But then PEBO used Chicago smack down, palm-greasing, manipulation, obfuscation, prevarication...to get elected so-on with the one act drama!

Mel of Alexandria, Virginia   January 4th, 2009 8:22 pm ET

Excellent choice to show some of those to the extreme right a more genuine form of Christianity. Dem forever.

Janis Oliver   January 4th, 2009 8:16 pm ET

Great choice, good man I live in Virginia.

Janis Oliver   January 4th, 2009 8:15 pm ET

Great choice, good man I liv in Virginia

giniajim   January 4th, 2009 8:10 pm ET

This is probaby a pretty good choice. Gov. Kaine doesn't pull punches. He's partisan, but no unreasonably so (i.e. you can talk to him!).

Sherrol in Canada   January 4th, 2009 8:04 pm ET

Guess McAuliffe wants to do a switch-er-roo.

Hope   January 4th, 2009 7:57 pm ET

Great guy the next president after Obama's 8 years.

casper   January 4th, 2009 7:56 pm ET

mr. kaine i hope you have been vetted.

Ted   January 4th, 2009 7:43 pm ET

YES!
I wanted him for VP, but this is even better!

tough shoes to fill   January 4th, 2009 7:43 pm ET

Dean did a very good job and if he can get past that yell he made during his run for pres., he would make a good pres. himself, but that was embarrasing
