The Obama transition team has released photos of the Obama girls preparing for school Monday.

WASHINGTON (CNN) - President-elect Barack Obama doesn't begin his term for another two weeks, but daughters Sasha and Malia began theirs on Monday.

According to the president-elect's transition office, Michelle Obama accompanied the two daughters to the Sidwell Friends School Monday morning - along with an expansive motorcade of U.S. Secret Service agents.

Sasha, 7, is in second grade and attending the elementary school campus in Bethesda, Maryland while Malia, 10, is in fifth grade and attending the Sidwell Friends middle school campus in Washington, DC.

Sonya, do you have any actual proof that Barack Obama does not recite the pledge properly, or do you just repeat what you have seen online?

It's been a slow day so far...right CNN?

I'm sure a majority of people wish the Obama girls all the best for their new school year....but is this really considered news? Are you going to report on what they had for lunch?

For all of you who wants the media to leave the girls alone so they can be normal. I don't believe CNN released these pictures.

The Obama team released the pictures with the approval of their parents.

to all of the above who can find nothing positive to say about these children, the First Family, we Lefties, I just want to say I am really sorry for all of you. You must be so unhappy, miserable and unkind
I thought that after 8 years of the Bush Administration I would not ever again feel the outrage and disgust, but here I am again – I really cannot believe what I read and hear. Are you not just a little ashamed of what the last eight years have done to America and the world. Where do you find the voice and the gumption to say anything except "Good Luck, we hope you do very well because we certainly did not" All I can say is that I will keep you in my prayers – Oh yes, Liberals do pray.

Why is everyone surprised? This is a repeat of the JFK phenomena of the 60's. We now have a fresh, young, diverse First Family that has captivated the nation's attention. If one of them hiccups, it's going to be newsworthy for at least the next year, if not longer.

I think it is smart of the Obamas to release a few press photos to satiate the nation's curiosity and to ward off nosy press, thus allowing the kids to actually go to school without being bothered.

Sonya and the rest of you Obamaphobes need to chill out. I can realte to not being happy with the results of an election. Imagine how irate you would be if McCain had won and the Supreme court gave it to Obama. Yes if you make more than 250k your taxes will go up. Be mad about that but try to keep the internet lies to a minimum. The Obama's love this country. Where else would their success even be possible?

I'm sure we will all (yes even me) have trouble with some of Obama's policies. Let those auguments come in time.. But lets cut the crap about them being un -American. Your side lost.. so do what we did. Complain about the things he does that you don't like.

For those asking why is this news, simple. It's about time we had some family values back in the White House.

I thought the Obamas requested the media not to cover their children and did not want to exploit them. What happened?

Not all "Lefties" are demented. But please read the very hateful comments on the Sarah Palin ticker regarding her daughter's newborn. Some of those comments are demented plain and simple.

Families should be off limits. Leave the kids alone.

I can't believe I'm witnessing this moment.... A young African American family in the White House. What great examples they are for blacks (and others as well).

And for those who stating this isn't news. This is definitely news... when is the last time we had first daughters that were black? This is history… so they are reporting history.

Wow, you guys seem pretty driven to leave the Obama kids alone, and rightly so. Too bad you don't feel the same about the Palin kids, who get trashed on a daily basis.

Come on people leave it alone. It won't be easy for these young girls to make the changes that will be required of them in the next few days, weeks, months and years. Just start playing nice will you? Life is just too short.

Thats nice, let all the terrorists know where his kids are. Secret Service protection or not, this is not a bright idea. While I am very interested in the Obama family, such details I dont need – and neither do our enemies.
