Will Ferrell will take his impersonation of President Bush to Broadway.

NEW YORK (CNN) - Will Ferrell, the man who invented "strategery" and other Bushisms, is taking his spoofs of the 43rd president to Broadway and HBO.

The "Saturday Night Live" veteran will star in "You're Welcome America: A Final Night With George W. Bush" at New York's Cort Theater, with previews in line for Inauguration Day.

The show will take a chronological look at Bush's life - from his college days and time as the governor of Texas to the 2000 race for president and his two terms in office.

Ferrell, who poked fun at the president will his successful impersonations on "SNL," told CNN he likes that Bush "never thinks he's wrong."

"He's arrogant with a school-boy attitude, and combine that with the fact that he is commander in chief - and, unfortunately, it's very funny."

Will, I would hope you would pay royalties to Bush. You can not have it both ways; mock the man then make money off him.-PS. Your last best movie was ELF...

get real dude   January 7th, 2009 12:52 am ET

No...he's arrogant with a school- boy IQ..and he was commander in chief?

@ not a disgrace.....Yes Congress did authorize the invasion of Iraq....the REPUBLICAN controlled Congress, you idiot.

I don't believe Congress authorized torture though, that was your pals Dumbya and Darth Vader, of which they're so proud.

Ferrill is not funny at all – and he is homely to boot. Go crawl under a rock.
The problems with the Global economy have been brewing since the Carter administration and most recently the Clinton administration when credit criterion controls were opened up to those with low to no income.

This was further perpetuated and intensified by the "loan sharks" recently giving loans to people who should never have qualified for any line of credit – and were given mortgages.

It might even be traceable to Nixon getting rid of the backing of our monetary system with GOLD. Money is just paper and the government prints more and devalues our dollar here and abroad.

musub@yahoo.com   January 7th, 2009 12:05 am ET

This is so fitting: George Bush's greatest Presidential accomplishment? Serving as national comic relief for 8 years. Unfortunately, given the extent of his distruction, I wish his entire tenure was just a joke. Unfortunately, we will have to live with the results for generations. I wonder how all the bozos who voted for him feel now? Hopefully their all eager to help Bush the international criminal serve out his time!!

Norom   January 6th, 2009 11:41 pm ET

Jen, Cali
You know who else is still around?-the guy responsible for the World
Trade Towers- thanks to the incompetence of your boy Bush. The last 8 years have been a joke, and Ferrell is trying to make money off it. It probably should be called a reality show however.

jnkekoa   January 6th, 2009 11:41 pm ET

Although Will Ferrell is frankly talent-free, and his "impression" of W. was ridiculously poor, that in itself was somehow fitting, since W. himself is even worse at, it appears, everything.

New Yorker   January 6th, 2009 11:36 pm ET

Anyone who mocks their own President in the way Ferrell does is a disgrace to ones country and only serves to encourage disrespect for the U.S. and encourage the terrorists. This guy is disgusting and a horrible example for our youngsters. All you folks who enjoy him are just as foolish.

mary the clerk   January 6th, 2009 11:31 pm ET

Dear Jesus freaks and fox news watchers....guess what?

Get lost Ferrell. Political satire is funny if your doing it to Republicans or conservatives but the Dems and libs can't take. What a bunch of whinners.

john   January 6th, 2009 10:56 pm ET

Ha I have wanted will farrell to do something like this for years. Bush is such a stooge his comedy show will be a hit.

BUSH BEGONE AND NOW 75% OF AMERICA AGREES, FINALLY!   January 6th, 2009 10:42 pm ET

Maybe those that voted republican can donate the Obama tax credit you will receive to the deficits that your vote caused and cover the cost of those of us who could see incompetence from the start.

And no, the shrub has NOT kept us safe, 9/11 happened 9 months into his term. He ignored the daily briefing on his desk in mid-August that was entitled bin Laden likely to strike because he was too busy cutting brush at his ranch in Crawford. Rice and he chose to ignore the Clinton briefings that she sat in during the transition.

But if it makes you feel better, you can pretend 9/11 was not on his watch, but reality and history will prove otherwise.

Charlize   January 6th, 2009 10:34 pm ET

Ferrell is hilarious. Bush is pathetic, good food for hilarious actors. I hope Ferrell buries him completely, after the idiot finally leaves office. If the criminal war monger isn't going to jail along with Cheney and the rest of his cronies, at least he should be put publicly to shame as much as possible, and Ferrell is the man for that.

Larry in Houston   January 6th, 2009 10:34 pm ET

Well Lenny Schmitt, sounds like your going to possibly have to PAY TAXES, according to Obama's Plan.....(anything over 200 k)

better you, than us....

Reality   January 6th, 2009 10:31 pm ET

This guy stopped being funny after Old School. What a pathetic attempt to milk Americans for all they are worth. Right up there with the country singers who sold albums about 9/11. Pathetic. I bet the Michael Moore crowd will eat it up.

And in 2 years you will either work for the state or be unemployed. No making fun of the president then. If you do you will go straight to the gulag, comrade.

He's Back!!!   January 6th, 2009 10:22 pm ET

Please Will Ferrell run for the senate then the Democratic implosion will be complete!!

Will isn't funny as anyone   January 6th, 2009 9:49 pm ET

I have never found Will Ferrell funny, even when he is trying to be. So maybe he is trying to actually become as famous as that actress Tina Fay did, finally, when she pretended to be Sarah Palin, the vice presidential nominee. By pretending to be Bush, Ferrell must be hoping his acting career will finally take off...well, it helped Tina, didn't it...and she can't act either.

No Hillary = No Obama   January 6th, 2009 9:49 pm ET

This is one of SNL's more successful alumi. It's too bad the women of SNL have not enjoyed the extent of this sucess and some of the women have been very talented and funny and they suddenly disappear into oblivion when their run on SNL ends. I wonder why

I just wish he could use his gift of humor without the cursing....or maniputlation of children.

Randy B.   January 6th, 2009 9:33 pm ET

As much as I have enjoyed Will panning our prez, I am not sure that I want to relive the last 8 years or learn about Bush's life no matter how funny Ferrell can find it.

Jen, Cali   January 6th, 2009 9:33 pm ET

yeah well January 6th, 2009 8:28 pm ET

john from sandiego   January 6th, 2009 9:26 pm ET

bush was a better president than dumbo ferrell will ever be a comedian or actor..

Hey Will.....   January 6th, 2009 9:23 pm ET

George Bush has kept you and your family safe from terrorism for the past seven years--not one attack on American soil-

When Obama starts appeasing Al Qaeda and the others, you're going to see roadside bombs and suicide bombers in your own neighborhood-

Then you'll appreciate what Bush did for you-

wendy   January 6th, 2009 9:21 pm ET

Will Ferrell is the best! Funniest guy on the planet. He is the only person who could make W laughable for a few minutes. The last 8 years have been such a tragedy for so many people in so many ways. Thank goodness for someone with Ferrell's talent to create something we can actually laugh about and feel ok about it. Will makes a laught at person an not the hurt he has created in so many lives. I say it will be a 5 star performance! As long as he uses good strategery to develop his agenda! Will just remember their is new material everyday. " So I analyzed that and decided I didn't want to be the president during a depression greater than the Great Depression, or the beginning of a depression greater than the Great Depression."—Washington D.C., Dec. 18, 2008

Slider   January 6th, 2009 9:21 pm ET

Hey, Ferrell, wait 'til Obama gets in office.

He'll make anything you've ever done look intelligent.

Texas Teacher   January 6th, 2009 9:19 pm ET

Kuddos, SA in OO... you could not be more correct!

Texas Teacher   January 6th, 2009 9:18 pm ET

Ferrell is hilarious... and Dubya Bush is wonderful fodder for comedians! The man is a buffoon... evil one... but still...! I love SNL.... the political satire is really funny when the rest of the show is not... :) Go, Will!

Jan Illinois   January 6th, 2009 9:11 pm ET

Will, Will, Will Don't you have enough money? It was a good run, Quit while your ahead. Don't tarnish a good career dragging that around with you. We want justice or simply to forget we ever heard his name.

Bud in Boston   January 6th, 2009 9:10 pm ET

Will Ferrell is a funny guy however, I do not anticipate that people will flock to this show. Bush destroyed not only this country but the economies around the world. If you ever think that one person can't make a difference, remember Georgie.

Who would want to sit through an 1-2 hour show being reminded of the disaster that these last 8 years have been. It's not even remotely funny.

Proud American   January 6th, 2009 9:08 pm ET

Lenny Schmitt – You and Jessie Helms must of got high together. From the looks of your spelling (scholl) you dropped out in the 3rd grade. The reason americans are out of work is because your Idiot president destoryed our economy and Jesse Helms allowed it while you too were got getting high. Idiot

Joe Independent   January 6th, 2009 9:08 pm ET

too bad Will Ferrell hasn't done anything funny since Old School. Step Brothers was painful to watch. Hope this is his comeback.

PA   January 6th, 2009 9:06 pm ET

Excuse me but even with the Best and Most Talented Comedians Bush will never be funny, as whether it's Bush in reality or impersonated the personna will never cease to evoke painful, aggitating, repulsive, pathetic memories. Bush will never be remembered as funny. He will only be remembered if the Media perpetuates it and then only as a Bad Joke. I hope Will is as fit as George in case he has to Dodge a fast flying shoe!

Pat   January 6th, 2009 8:52 pm ET

Ferrell - YEAH - He's a "piece" of Hollywood's money-making idiots we should REALLY listen to!

gregg45   January 6th, 2009 8:35 pm ET

and you find will funny,,never saw brillo hair that funny... maybe thats why i never liked clowns,, reap what ya get,,, former democrat,,me that is

Lenny Schmitt   January 6th, 2009 8:32 pm ET

Our country was built by people overcoming hard times. My business is booming. I dropped out of school after the ninth grade and spent time in jail. I was addicted to drugs and I am permanently disabled. Congressman Jessie Helms looked past all that and gave me a chance. I now own my own business and my income is over $200,000.00 a year. If a disabled, high scholl drop out could be successful anyone can. This is the most forgiving country in the world and our government for all its faults tries to do the best it can for all it's citizens, even those of us who have made terrible mistakes. If our life is not what you want it to be get off you butt and change it. You are in the greatest country in the world, be thankful.

yeah well   January 6th, 2009 8:28 pm ET

yeah well the last eight years have been anything but funny. In fact it's going to take decades to undo Bush's damage to America, the once greatest country on earth, Thanks alot Bush.

Sylvia Norwood   January 6th, 2009 8:24 pm ET

Well I think Will Ferrell is an idiot...have never thought he was humorous..and I happen to like President Bush very much and respect him tremendously! I will miss him.

SA in OO   January 6th, 2009 8:22 pm ET

The really "unfortunate" thing is that Will Ferrell is only one of many actors who could have done a better job of playing president than Dubya did. The difference is when actors act like fools on TV or in the theatre, it doesn't destroy the lives and livelyhood of literally millions of people.
