(CNN) –- The White House said Wednesday President Bush will go directly to Midland, Texas after leaving Washington on Inauguration Day.
White House spokesperson Dana Perino said the President and First Lady Laura Bush will leave Andrews Air Force Base, and fly to Midland for a “welcome home event” in Centennial Plaza on the town square. They will fly on one of the jets he used as Air Force One during his presidency, though it will have a different designation that day.
Midland was the site of his send-off rally when he left for Washington before taking office in January 2001. The president lived in Midland as he was growing up, and it is the first lady’s hometown.
The President and Mrs. Bush will then fly to Waco, and go to their ranch in Crawford for the first night after leaving the White House.

I just have to say Thank God there is a GOD...Jeb Bush announced that he will NOT seek the Senate seat being vacated by Senator Martinez..Said that the timing was off. Yeah right, maybe it's because the people of Florida are getting smarter and would say "NOMORE BUSHES NEAR THE WHITE HOUSE AGAIN". I thank my fellow Floridians was sending this message to Jeb. And now to the current Bush..Who is paying for these to flights back to Texas? We taxpayers again? He should take a Greyhound bus back....Let him sit in the back of the bus like he done to the American public for the last 8 years.

I have no hate to spew. George W Bush simply put is the worst president ever. From his policies to his reckless disregard for science. From his appointments to his cocky attitude he represents not only the worst administration in our history but considering the safe-guards of our constitutional democracy, his was the worst presidency possible under our system.
All of my animosity towards our W stems from the actions that he has taken as chief executive. The minute he leaves office that all goes away.
Which brings up an interesting point for you Obamaphobes out there. Don't you think you should actually wait until President-elect Obama does something before complaining?
One other thing for you Obama haters. I can sympathize with you not liking the outcome of an election........ just think how upset you would be if McCain had won the election and the Supreme Court turned around and gave it to Obama.

What did Bush do regarding Blair House?
If you are referring to the idea that the residence was reserved for the time being & he didn't bump whoever was staying there simply because the Obamas wanted it prior to them normally being entitled to it then he DIDN'T DO ANYTHING WRONG WITH THAT!! The incoming president & his family are allowed to move into Blair House a specific amount of days prior to the inauguration. The Obamas are in DC way early to make the transition easy on their children (kudos to them for that) but that doesn't mean they are entitled to Blair House just because they are in town
People here need to be better informed..the Blair House is where the Obama's will be prior to inauguration, only issue was Obama wanted it in time for his children to start school (about a week earlier than traditionally requested)
And if you think the President actually schedules occupancy of the Blair House, you are even bigger idiots than you sound on these blogs.
