I'm from Illinois and am totally opposed to Burris. Just the fact that he has allowed Bobby Rush to cry race and then met with a bunch of black ministers for their blessing makes me sick. Illinois has elected many fine black candidates and "elected" is the key word. We didn't want him when he ran legally, why would we want him now. Not that it matters now, he will get the seat, but will he serve again after an election - that is the real question. He is a phony and an opportunist, we deserve better.

There will be no special election. The Democrats are going to protect their Senate seat just as much as Norm Coleman is trying to save a Republican seat in Minnesota. In the end, Burris and Al Franken will both be seated giving the Democrats 59 seats. No different than the Republicans covering the butt of "family values" man Senator David Vitter, (R-LA) who has some issues himself.. Republicans lvoe to crow about family values but have no problem when the daughter of their Vice Presidential nominee had child born out of wedlock. If Gov. Palin had been a Democrat Rush Limbaugh would call her a hypocrite.

I agree that Mr. Burris' appointment is legal; however, I strongly believe it is neither ethical nor moral. I hope Mr. Burris can put aside his blind ambition to become a senator at any cost, and withdraw his name from this tainted nomination pending a more legitimate process.

RIGHT........ Illinois voters should be able to have a special election for the Obama senate seat.

Blagojevich lost his right to appoint someone when he attempted to sell the seat!

Sorry Ghuman ... racism is not dead in America with the election of Barack.... Nor will we stop pressing the point. Talk to me in 2040.

It may not be racism in the Burris situation but the facts are clear. It's a legal appointment which no one, not White, not Reid have any legal basis to oppose. Like it or not Blago made this appointment as the Governor of Illinios. He outsmarted his critics. Seat Roland Burris.

If you want less cries of racism, follow the rules. It is when the rules get bent in favor of the majority and against the minority that claims of bias will be made.

When we say that Blagojevich "won" over congress, we're really saying that the PEOPLE lost. Burris could have been appointed by the next governor once Blagojevich stepped down. Burris could have said exactly that and still have become a senator in time.

Blagojevich is the bad apple here...even if he didn't "do anything wrong" the appearance of a scandal of this magnitude should force him to step down anyway.

this is not about Burris. This is about how you crucified Sarah Palin because she was a conservative. Carolyn Kennedy is any better? Oh, come on now. Kathy Couric, I know how ingratiating your interviews with Carolyn will be. Can you sleep at night. You know what is going on. You just care about your big salary.

Blagojevich= Guilty of only one thing. Telling Barack Obama to go stick it. What evidence is there he did try and sell the seats? No one has come forward admitting to being offered the chance. Not without joining him in the next jail cell. So where is this evidence? No money changed hands.

How is it that wanting something from Obama to put his pick in the senate is illegal and called "Pay to Play" but somehow the Clinton/Obama you stand by and endorse me as president and I'll help pay your campaign debt and give you the secretary of state job was not "Pay for Play".

The more "evidence" I hear about this the more I know he did nothing wrong other than to tell Obama that if he wanted his pick he should return the favor.

I think it is very unfortunate that Burris accepted the appointment from the shamed Governor. It shows that he severely lacks good judgement. I know if I was a voter in Illinois there would not be a chance that I would vote for him in the next senate election.

This man has the biggest ego on the planet. He acts as if people are waiting for him to take office. He's a spineless weasel who took advantage of a horrible situation.

I hope Barack doesn't give him any creditability by taking a photo with him. Any man who will sell his soul for an office does not have good character. He also used his grandchildren to gain sympathy.

Change,

I am glad you are loving it, since your side still lost the election. By the way, how did Palin get the V.P. slot on the McCain ticket? Did she contribute more than $20K to the McCain campaign? Did someone made a contribution on her behalf? Did the contribution come from the Democrats, since her selection worked out so well for them?

Burris says he had no conversations with Blago about the Senate seat, so then, did Blago call him out of the blue and offered it to him?

How did Blago know Burris was interested in the seat?

Palin is a nitwit, moron, idiot... yada yada yada.

But those charming fellows from Chicago are just what we need!

I'll use Kofi Annan's expression leading up to the war to sum up the election of Obama....YOU BROKE IT YOU BOUGHT IT.

Way to go America, Chicago politics coming to the national stage. God help us all.

The sooner Congress put this behind them the better.
Score "1" for Blagojevich and "0" for Reid.

Burris stated in this meeting that he has never read the charges against Blagojevich. It appears that obviously is not that interested in what is going on in the State of Illinois. At first I thought Burris was interested in money, but now realize he just wants another title to add to his mausoleum.

Mr Burris, your comments are hard to believe that you had NO conversations with the governor. Why must you take the seat? why are you singing racism? just a showman using his color to get what he wants, using that just shows that you are the racist and are discriminating against true democracy.

If Burris has even an ounce of honesty and ethics in him, he would not have accepted this appointment.

He may be the right person but the fact he accepted this position from a corrupt politician with full knowledge taints his credibility big time.

And to all those who are making a racial thing out of this; I would say: Please, no more of this. The election of Barrack Obama should shut their mouths. If most whites can vote to elect a Black president, then as far as I am concerned, racism has been eliminated from America as a nation. Of course there are still racist people in this country and some will stay that way till they die.

Well, Well, here we are again!!! If Burris is qualified to be the Illinois Jr. Senator, then let it happen, this should be done as quickly as Burris's background can be checked! Do I think they are going to find some things that are disturbing in his background? You bet I do and I do not think I am in that alone, Gee what a mess in Illinois!! And I only thought the big probem was ACORN that shows you just how much I know. Betty

Why of course he didn't pay for that appointment by Blagojevich. That $20,000 was for his daughter's girl scout cookies.

In 2010 Burris will be aggressively campaigned against and the fact he was appointed by Blagojevich after Blagojevich was arrested for trying to appoint to the highest bidder will be Burris' biggest problem. His "good name" will be stained just like Blagojevich.

Like, he's really going to tell anybody what he did for this appointment. He wants it so bad, he would do anything. Under the circumstances, can anybody believe him, any more than they can believe the soon to be ex-governor?
