Folks – the country faces a dire situation and we're arguing over who would or should be president? Or wondering about 2012??? At this moment in time, I don't think any president would be able to just change the situation we face over night. However, Obama has confidence and has surrounded himself with people, both Republican and Democrat, that will ultimately wok together to help improve the country's economic crisis. If you have a job, please be grateful that you do have a job. I am one of millions that has been laid off and I face great uncertainty about how to provide for my family while so many jobs are not available. I trust that Obama will be able to work tirelessly to do everything he can and be as good a president as possible for everyone.

In many cases it would appear that their grasp of facts even as simple as where Obama was born are out of touch reality. What hope is there that such people can even begin to understand the facts behind the economic and financial meltdown and world events.

The other observation is that so many Americans (not the majority of either Democrats or Republicans) are hoping Obama will fail. Sad commentary on the state of politics and its citizenry.

The ignorance and total lack of knowledge of some posters about other democracies and countries is overwhelming. Actually the American democratic structure is cumbersome, structured for conditions in the past and most often in gridlock.

Other democracies do not appoint elected officials, their leaders are part of their parliament and must attend and answer questions when parliament is in session and cabinet members are actually elected. Leaders can be "impeached" by a simple non confidence vote; Blago would have been gone and a new election called in days.

There are no earmarks, presdential vetoes and far less corruption in voting procedures. Most are able to run an election in eight weeks. We need to be proud of our country but we need to also appreciate the pride and confidence other nations have in theirs.

Even though there are claims that he's hiding his true birth certificate, (which are probably unfounded; just because you haven't seen it doesn't mean other people haven't) do you honestly think he would have made it this far without EVERYONE checking and rechecking his documentation? You don't get to become the president by just saying you're a citizen. These things are examined by the highest authorities on the subject.

President Obama should take a very close look at his Congressional leadership after recent events. They seem to be disintegrating under the thought of having to work. There were those that cooked up a kitchen sink strategy to sink Senator Barak Obama's election campaign. The kitchen sink strategy failed. Others tried mudslinging politics . That failed.
