On 09-11-2001 when the Palestinians heard about the twin towers they celebrated.If all you Jew haters think these people care about innocent lives you are as naive as they come.Israel is doing what it has to do to defend itself and I hope it continues to do so because she not only hated by most Muslims but a good number of infidels.

The Jewish people came from the holy land, fought to defend there claim in the holy land, where destroyed by their enemies, including the Romans and the Muslims, and were scattered from their homeland to the ends of the known world. They were persecuted by the early Christians and later the Nazis in Germany, then decided to return to their place of origin, where they are now persecuted by the Islamic world, short-sighted Americans and others, including Hamas.
The jewish people have suffered more than any people in history, and now for others--with good intentions--who claim the Israelis are just murderering bullys is an outrage to all sensible people in the world who also want to see a peaceful solution for all the people in the middle-east.

Alan, Texas Teacher et al.

You make this conflict seem very straight-forward and simple with your comparisons. However, I beg to differ. There is nothing simple about this conflict which goes back thousands of years. Do you get that?

In danger of continuing the simplification consider that both peoples have ancient bonds to the land. That Israel as you know it today was created by the world community as an afterthought of the terrors of World War II. In the years it has gone back and forth. Most of the people in Gaza alive today have known nothing but war and killings and utter suppression - they have grown up with Israel moving in with illegal settlements. As the Israelis have suffered from hatred for so long. This is not a matter of self defense!

Guys, you got the wrong Anology. get it right!
this not about Mexico tossing rocket toward Texas.
this about a terrorist state supported by the the west snatching the land from the native people (Palitsinians) kicking them from the land importing jews from all over the world like Russia and Ethipia, because they are entitled to the land given to them By GOD.
then slaughtering them, humiliating them, putting them under siege, so there's no food no water, no electricity, people starving to death beacuse of of an embargo that lasted almost for two years.
that last episode in 2009 version of Israeli Holocaust with the help of american tax payers, killing the defenseless women and children using bomb from the air, ground, and sea.
Wake up America, call your representatives in the congress tell them to oppose thess blatant injustices. if there's God forbid a second 911 happens, we will be again asking : why they hate us, well the answer:
WHAT YOU SOW IS WHAT YOU WILL HARVEST.
becuase we're supporing a TERRORIST STATE KILLING THEM, giving Israel green light to kill, rape, invade, starve to death, humilite shield Israel from criticism in the UN, and giving ISRAEL money and arm to execute their EVIL plan. this as simple as this THAT WHY THEY HATE US.
tell the congress to focus on our problems home. Like Madoff and Issue and the like.

Why does our country go out of it's way to support Israel? What have they ever done for us except provide a tax shelter for Jewish Americans who claim duel citizenship? The only thing I see that they have done is put an Arab knife to our throats.

Time to cut the apron strings and tell them "you're on your own".
We have our own house to get in order.

While I have a lot of "spiritual" respect for Israel, I also believe that such resolution is unnecessary and provocative. I don't really see its positive impact in American politic. However, I could imagine its negative impact in our war against terrorism, which Obama administration plans to conduct with diplomacy.
It is OK to support Israel in some circumstances, but supporting Israel so openly in this particular situation is careless and not diplomatically correct. Speaker Pelosi should know that Arabs people feel so humiliated and insulted right now. Such resolution could give extremist and terrorist groups good argument for recruiting terrorists in the name of Jihad in order attack us. We don't need it.
It could also show disrespect and disregard to arab lives. I am not sure that it helps Israel either if every one starts showing its support so openly.
The most problem in this resolution is that it doesn't help Obama administration in its foreign policy. Speaker Pelosi should know it. Unless, it is just one of the conspiracies against Obama administration

Nancy - you are making a big mistake and will hurt future efforts to reduce terrorist recruiting

The US should condem all killing!

Taking "one side" is only making you and the US a target

The best way to defeat the terrorist is to make it hard for them to recruit. You have to win the heads and the hearts of the people.

Just look at all the past resolutions of this sort - what did accomplish?

Nothing!   but more hatred!

DO NOT REPEAT what the Republicans have done

Think about it!

Best wishes!

When are we going to see those responsible in the International Court in the Hague?

My God, is that what you call what Israel is doing?? Defending itself?? It's like watching a bully beat up on a helpless little kid and use the defense excuse. Give me a break. Israel is the closest thing to Nazi's the world has right about now. Nazis with America weaponry.

You take my house. Lock in the garage, and when I need anything I have to ask you for it. You even change the name of my house from Palestine to Israel.
I'm fighting for the freedom of my family, and you call me a terrorist.
I call Hamas freedom fighters.
If you don't want rockets fired at you, give me back my land and my right to self-determination.

Sounds like most of you didn't tune in until the part where Israel fought back -- and completely missed the part where Hamas attacked Israel with rockets (and continued attacking even after Israel warned it would retaliate if Hamas didn't stop.)

...This is exactly the kind of US Foreign policy, that increases the chances another 9/11 happening in US and poor american civilians pay the price. The helpless and tired people of Palestine with no one to support them and look to them, become suicide bombers, when all doors closed on them, that becomes the only option to retaliate. Ultimately, it is these policies that create the very terrorism thats on everyone's mind to be eradicated. Very Unfortunate.

Why is congress voting on this at all. They obviously do not represent the thinking of all americans. Those of us that disagree with this should contact our senators and congressmen and let them know our thoughts.

Israel is no better than the terrorists in Gaza and I, for one, am tired of our government continually supporting Israel.

Wow! What blatant anti-semitism (and ignorance) on this board!

If Tijuana, Mexico was dropping 75 rockets a day on towns in Southern California -- who amongst you would protest if the US went in to disarm Tijuana?

Oh, and, by the way, when the United Nations created Israel in 1948, it created TWO states, side by side: one Jewish and one Arab. Even Jerusalem was divided into Arab and Jewish segments. The Arab world was unhappy with half, it wanted everything. So instead of embracing the newly-created Palestinian state, they attacked the newly-created Jewish one -- and lost.

They do not want two states living side by side in peace. They want one. Theirs.

Worse, they don't care how many of their own people die in the process. They love the propaganda value they get when Israel accidentally kills Palestinian civilians in self-defense. And you guys are falling for it.

Oh, and, by the way, when the United Nations created Israel in 1948, it created TWO states, side by side: one Jewish and one Arab. Even Jerusalem was divided into Arab and Jewish segments. The Arab world was unhappy with half, it wanted everything. So instead of embracing the newly-created Palestinian state, they attacked the newly-created Jewish one - and lost.

They do not want two states living side by side in peace. They want one. Theirs.

Worse, they don't care how many of their own people die in the process. They love the propaganda value they get when Israel accidentally kills Palestinian civilians in self-defense. And you guys are falling for it.

What a wonderful idea! Lets just support another country that is illegally occupying territory illegal under a UN Mandate. That will help put a stop to terrorism!

...Hamas knows it's not just dealing with some tiny group of people. Israel is for real! Go Israel!!!!...All you libs who think peace treaties are easy with Hamas have no clue...
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
“Go Israel”
The Israeli - Palestinian conflict isn't a college football game.  What exactly are you cheering?  A touchdown?  And how do you incorporate the present situation in Gaza into a baseless and foolish attack on liberals?
You should replace Tony Blair.  Then again, if he reads these posts, he already knows he's out of a job.
"Patience and wait and see"  I think most of the world did that in the 40's.
You people just don't get it.  Hamas and all these radicals will not be happy until Israel is gone.  They hate America not because of our policies towards Israel, it is because we are not Islamic!    No President will make them love us, nothing we do short of  Sharia law, will change that!
Israel is composed of a bunch of murdering thugs who couldn't do what they're doing without being aided and abetted by the United States.  On this subject, I'm deeply ashamed of my country.  The Jewish lobby is too strong in this country and our media is on the side of the oppressor.   The Palestinians deserve to have a homeland and to be treated like human beings!
I am baffled by this. How can this be? The news from Gaza is so awful that I fail to see how a democratic House of Representatives can in any way support Israel at this time. The events of the last ten days or so have been so unjust.
Meh.... if someone, anyone... terrorist/s was just across the border in Canada or Mexico firing bombs into our country day after day after day, we would bomb them off the face of the earth!  And we would do it so fast, they would not know what hit them!  And if those countries harbored those terrorists, we would probably be in all out war!
Seriously, Man!  Get your head out of these poor victims story!  No one wants the common people killed!  That is probably what has kept Israel from doing this sooner!  But if those people harbor terrorists who are bombing their neighbors, then they have to take heat!  It sickens me that these people cannot see that it is terrorists who are destroying them!....  Not the people and countries they are attacking... religious fanatics are criminal, nothing less!
Our Congress is dead wrong if they decide to take sides in this.  We should be working to resolve the conflict, not taking sides to support one aggressor over another.
The Gaza population is being held hostage by a terrible people who stop at nothing to achieve their agenda...
The terrible people in question......HAMAS.
Yeah, Hamas, the Iran supported terrorist organization.  This is their fault, not Israel.
A dead Palestinian is great PR.  That is why they hide among civilians in hospitals and schools (besides the fact that they are less than men).  They don't care about the people of Gaza.  They just care about their insane radical Islamic policies.  Their STATED AGENDA IS TO DESTROY ISRAEL.  Negotiate with that!
WAR is HELL for everyone involved.  Could it be that this latest conflict is a centuries old fight between David's Israelites and Goliath's Philistines?  Hmmm!
Could it be that if the Romans had not killed and enslaved the Israelites and, Mohammed not murdered thousands of Hebrews, the Crusades and Spanish Inquisition not murdered Jews because of their refusal to accept Christ.  What of the Czarist pogroms and Hitler's final solution for 6 million Jews.
Haven't we Jews suffered enough?  Live and let live.  Yes, WAR is HELL but we Jews always have to fight for our survival.  We are the chosen people...too often we are chosen for destruction.
Does fighting an enemy using civilians as human shields mean you can kill civilians? No.
If Congress had a real backbone they would stay the heck out of it and condemn BOTH sides for the stupidity of this conflict. "non-binding resolution!" What is the point? To inflame the Arab nations that may still be loosely allied with us?
Enough of Israel highjacking our leadership.  The will of the people is not reflected in our leadership when 50% of Americans do NOT believe in 100% no questions asked support of Israel. American Congressmen.women are sheep.
I just wrote to my representative demanding the he support this resolution.
Let's get a few things straight.  Palestinians=Syrians.  "It is common knowledge that Palestine is nothing but southern Syria." — Ahmed Shukairy, United Nations Security Council, 1956.  There is not and never has been a "Palestinian State", Palestine is a geographical reference.
Pre 1948 a few jews were sprinkled here and there in the area but they purchased land and began turning desert into fertile land.  In 1948 when the UN created the "Jewish State" they also set aside land for the Palestinians.  Funny how their arab brethern, Jordan & Egypt, annexed the west bank and gaza and told the palestinians they were not setting up shop in either area.
We can go on for days with who did what, ultimately you come to the same conclusion: both sides, since the creation of the "jewish state", always point to the other's bad behavior to justify thheir own bad behavior.  The bottom line is this:  until both the palestinians & jews agree that the price they pay to live peacefully side by side is exponentially lower than the price they are paying now neither will live in peace.
Israel knows where Hamas has stashed their weapons, so why not send their special forces troops, (they have some of the best in the world), and covertly destroy the munitions and rocket launchers? This would be much better than shelling schools, hospitals, etc., out of principle.
Hamas needs to stop picking fights with the biggest kid on the block and then crying about it when they get their teeth kicked in.
America needs to help END he fight instead of cheering for the bigger kid.
This citizen will fully support the Palestinians, who are all terrorists, if just ONE of my fellow American's immediately returns his or her illegally-occupied land to the Native Americans from whom it was stolen.
Since we all know that will not happen, Israel should go ALL-OUT. If it's their  very existence they fight for, what have they got to lose?
If my father had not killed German civilians while they put us in ovens, I would be a bar of soap.
Any proper action Israel takes to defend itself will be criticized by the ignorant hypocrites.
God speed, Nation of Israel.
Lovely! Lovely! What else !!!!!!  Were we expecting something else than this usual "resolution?" The "seeker" of the motion is a Jew and the voters are Jews. What else could be expected?
There was a scuffle. The dead body lay surrounded. The Town's Police Chief was there (A Jew),  The Medical Inspector was there (A Jew), the Ambulance chief was there (AJew), The Distric Att. was there (A Jew) and the driver ( a Hispanic) was there. The body belonged to an Indo-European man.
What ever happened to the idea of a Palestinian state?  Bush made that a priority for 2005.  Are they also allowed to defend themselves, or just Israel?
All you libs who think peace treaties are easy with Hamas have no clue.   Hamas hates Israel, and their goal is ultimately to wipe out Israel.  Hamas's idea of a peace treaty is not a cease-fire.  It is,  "we'll stop shooting rockets at you if you give us the land where we're shooting them."  The only way to create a cease-fire is if Hamas "gives up" whatever its goal in this is.  And Israel might need to send Hamas some wake-up calls before Hamas realizes that it is weak compared to Israel.   All you people who think peace treaties are soo easy, you all need to get your brains screwed on a little tigher.
