Joe the plumber headed to Middle East

Then-Sen. Obama's chance meeting with Wurzelbacher on the campaign trail in October turned the Ohio plumber into a nationally-known figure.
Then-Sen. Obama's chance meeting with Wurzelbacher on the campaign trail in October turned the Ohio plumber into a nationally-known figure.

(CNN) – Joe Wurzelbacher: Plumber. Campaign celebrity. Foreign correspondent?

‘Joe the Plumber’ is headed overseas to try his hand at covering the conflict in Gaza, Wurzelbacher’s publicist Thomas Tabback confirmed to CNN Wednesday.

Wurzelbacher plans to spend 10 days in Israel reporting on the conflict for pjtv.com, a Web site run by conservative media outlet Pajamas Media.

The famous plumber will be focusing on the Israeli perspective on the situation. "It's tragic, I mean it really is,” Wurzelbacher told CNN affiliate WNWO “I don't say that in any little way. It's very tragic, but at the same time what are the Israeli people supposed to do.”

Wurzelbacher told WNWO he’s not worried about the potential dangers of his new gig. "Being a Christian I'm pretty well protected by God I believe. That's not saying he's going to stop a mortar for me, but you gotta take the chance,” he told the CNN affiliate.

“Israeli officials are very excited to have him,” Tabback told CNN.

Does anyone see the irony in sending the same guy who made those arcane comments about Israel, that even he couldn't later explain, to cover the conflict in Gaza?

What? Why? Something tells me that the Israeli arent "happy to have him" What is the point? And to say that he is only going to see the Israeli perspective says a lot about him. THIS IS JUST PLAIN STUPID

This is on the same level as Larry Flynt looking for a bail out.

Ask your parents or grandparents what silly things people did in the 30's to divert their attention from the Great Depression.

If this guy really is "Joe the Plumber", shouldn't he be doing some actual plumbing? Fix a pipe, you hack!

So does this mean we can finally quit calling him a plumber?

What an idiot, and how stupid of CNN to think we would think this is news! This guy is not a plumber, even though he decided to work as one. He is not a foreign correspondent and taking a plane to a war zone does not make him one any more than my walking into a surgery makes me a surgeon.

Oh my God, who does this man think he is....boy, he sure has racked up some credential's since his side lost the election!! Wow, he's now a reporter and like anyone gives a toss about him and his latest stupid idea.
I'm sure the world will be watching with bated breath as this highly prized reporter brings us all the latest news from Israel....Joe, just stick to your "draino and plumber's tape"!!!

That publicist sounds like a giant tool too. “Israeli officials are very excited to have him,” Tabback told CNN. Yeahhhh...in the midst of war they're excited to have this guy come over and report.

"It's tragic, I mean it really is,” Wurzelbacher told CNN affiliate WNWO “I don't say that in any little way. It's very tragic, but at the same time what are the Israeli people supposed to do.” Way to sum up a life and death issue Joe..."what are they supposed to do?!!?! gaaaahawwww!"
