(CNN) – Joe Wurzelbacher: Plumber. Campaign celebrity. Foreign correspondent?
‘Joe the Plumber’ is headed overseas to try his hand at covering the conflict in Gaza, Wurzelbacher’s publicist Thomas Tabback confirmed to CNN Wednesday.
Wurzelbacher plans to spend 10 days in Israel reporting on the conflict for pjtv.com, a Web site run by conservative media outlet Pajamas Media.
The famous plumber will be focusing on the Israeli perspective on the situation. "It's tragic, I mean it really is,” Wurzelbacher told CNN affiliate WNWO “I don't say that in any little way. It's very tragic, but at the same time what are the Israeli people supposed to do.”
Wurzelbacher told WNWO he’s not worried about the potential dangers of his new gig. "Being a Christian I'm pretty well protected by God I believe. That's not saying he's going to stop a mortar for me, but you gotta take the chance,” he told the CNN affiliate.
“Israeli officials are very excited to have him,” Tabback told CNN.

I agree with the common theme of the posts that this is not news worthy. I find out interesting that CNN thinks this is news worthy while Ann Coulter continues to spew hate. More interesting, she does this while wearing a cross to demonstrate her faith. That is someone people should blog about because she is extremely dangerous.

This is insulting to journalists everywhere. Many of us go to school then labor in news rooms for years developing our interviewing skills, our writing skills, our diction, our camera presence, etc. Reporters are a unique breed who crave information. This jerk can't even properly complete a plumber's apprenticeship. I'm insulted.

I like to remind everyone here that the greatest leaders in history were not part of the top 97% of intellectuals. It was the average guy that stormed the beaches at Normandy, it was the average Joe who downed a plane on it way to the White House to cause it's destruction in 09/11/2001. George Washington was a farmer first, received his PHD after his Presidency. Rockefeller, Joe Kennedy, Ford, the list is endless, that is why this used to be the land of opportunity! It is the average American taxpayer who will burden the national debt.

Being of mostly Irish background I have no problem stating my view about their questionable choice for a middle american icon. I was hoping this "grifter" would disappear into the sunset.
