(CNN) - Sarah Palin is credited with making Tina Fey a world-wide star and boosting Katie Couric's ratings at CBS.
But in a recent interview with conservative John Ziegler, Palin said both "exploited" her twelve-week candidacy - a fact, she said, that "says a great deal about our society.”
Fey's widely-applauded portrayal of the Alaska governor boosted SNL's ratings, while Couric’s audience grew after a series of interviews during which Palin now-famously faltered.
“I did see that Tina Fey was named entertainer of the year and Katie Couric’s ratings have risen," Palin said in the interview. "I know that a lot of people are capitalizing on, oh I don’t know, perhaps some exploiting that was done via me, my family, my administration - that’s a little bit perplexing, but it also says a great deal about our society.”
The Alaska governor was particularly upset with an SNL skit during which Fey's version of Palin said, "I believe marriage is meant to be a sacred institution between two unwilling teenagers."
The line was a clear reference to Palin's 18-year-old daughter Bristol and her fiancé Levi Johnston. The two announced shortly before the GOP convention that they were expecting a baby and had plans to marry.
"The mama grizzly rises up in me, hearing things like that," she said of a skit. "Here again, cool, fine come attack me. But when you make a suggestion like that that attacks a kid, it kills me."
In the wide-ranging interview, Palin also faulted the McCain campaign for agreeing to a series of sit-downs with Couric after the first one appeared to go so poorly.
“I knew it didn’t go well the first day, and then we gave her a couple of other segments after that," she said. "And my question to the campaign was, after it didn’t go well the first day, why were we going to go back for more…going back for more was not a wise decision either.”
During one of those follow-up interviews, Palin took heat for appearing to be unable to name the newspapers or magazines she reads: "Um of them, any of them that have been in front of me all these years," was the Alaska governor's response.
In the interview with Ziegler, Palin called that answer "too flippant" and suggested the question itself offended her.
“To me the question was more along the lines of, ‘Do you read, what do you guys do up there, what is it that you read?’”
"...Katie, you’re not the center of everybody’s universe," Palin added off-handedly.
Palin, who has long criticized media coverage of her campaign performance, also said she is interested to see if reporters are equally tough on Caroline Kennedy as she pursues the appointment to the likely-vacant Senate seat in New York.
“I’ve been interested to see how Caroline Kennedy will be handled, and if she will be handled with kid gloves or if she will be under such a microscope,” she said.
“It’s going to be interesting to see how that plays out and I think that as we watch that we will perhaps be able to prove that there is a class issue here, also that was such a factor in the scrutiny of my candidacy versus, say, the scrutiny of what her candidacy may be," she also said.
As a vice presidential candidate who wanted to relate to "real americans"....welcome to "real america".
If you don't want your kids in the spotlight, don't run for vice president. It was your choice. You knew your 18 year old, unmarried daughter was pregnant when you accepted the candidacy. You got what you asked for.
Who wants to hear about this woman anyway?
Her 15 minutes are up.
Palin-You're no Kennedy!! Don't even begin to draw comparisons. Caroline can put sentences together...
Palin's bottom line was a serious lack of preparation. She might be a very brilliant individual but was not prepared to show her brilliance to the american public through the media.
And she got nailed for it...
You can debate media fairness all day long but it does not change the fact that Palin was unprepared.
SARAH PALIN, IS STILL A JOKE...PALIN YOUR 15 MINUTES IS UP..GO AWAY
Amazing she doesn't take any responsibility for Couric and Fey. If she had known her stuff and had any substance, there wouldn't have been any issue. And by the way, in Couric's case, asking the most basic, simple and totally-to-be-expected questions is hardly "exploiting."
Sarah who? Oh yeah, the Alaska GOP darling with a more dysfunctional family than the Manson Family
enough already, Sarah Palin needs to concentrate on doing the best job that she can for the citizens of Alaska as their governor and give the media a rest. The average person really don´t care what she thinks.
Agreed, you were a gimmick Sarah, thankfully one that didn't work, now go away.
What Palin forgets is that Caroline Kennedy is smart and sarah is NOT!
One thing I do not like is when someone tries to make themselves out to be a "victim" when in fact they are not.
Sarah Palin agreed to go on SNL with Tina Fey. Sarah Palin also says she wishes she had done more interviews. Being interviewed by Greta Van Sustern is not being interviewed....there was zero substance in those interviews. The Couric and Gibson interviews had substantative questions.
I am a republican and still cannot comprehend why Mrs. Palin was chosen. I do disagree with the general hateful comments towards Mrs. Palin and her family.
She just doesn't get it, does she?... HAHAhahahahahahahahahaha.
@Go away Sarah
Wow! Never thought it was so serious..let me guess, you gotta be a woman?? Just gotta love the ladies...because if you're a man, then God help us all...
Sorry Sarah, but I salute Katie and Tina for exposing just how unqualified and ignorant (yet stubborn in your beliefs) you are. I stil can't believe McCain made such a wreckless choice. The fact that you would even compare youself to Caroline Kennedy is unsulting. I love the line about the teenagers, because it's true. Do you seriously expect us to believe these kids got no pressure to keep the baby or to get married?
Had you tried to educate yourself about the world and stopped rejecting reality and science you might have gotten more traction, but at this point I sure hope it's too late for you to try to dupe us. Cutting down on the lies, fear mongering and race-baiting might have helped too.
What says a great deal about our society is that this illiterate woman was even a political candidate and is a governor. What also says a lot about our society is the fact that she's still making the news.
Sounds like Sarah has issues.
why does Gov. Palin think that K.C was the cause of her bloops and blunders? What the problem seems to be is very clear, her mouth... she just won't stop talking! here are a few tips that can help... be quiet, zip it up, put a lid on it, don't talk, shut up!!!! please..............
Get a grip Gov. Palin. I agree with you, the teenager comment was off base and found it to be offensive but your other complaints are sounding childish. Your interview with Katie was what it was. I am a Republican, who, by viewing the campaign recently ran intend to change from a lifelong Republican to a Democrat. I have found Sean Hannity, Rush Lumbaugh and Ann Coulter to be too much to listen to. I also find Diane Finestein, Harry Reid to be in your same group. It is time that poiticans start listening to the American people. President-elect Obama ran a highly disciplined campaign and it showed iin the American vote. I personally do not want to ever see you run for office again.
Palin, your idiocy is stunning. Truly. The nation not only shunned you but breathed a collective sigh of relief when you returned back to Wasilla where you belong. Please stay there and for God's sake shut up.
Tina Fey and SNL weren't attacking your daughter Sarah, they were making fun of you and your rigid principles.
I wish she would just go away and hide in a cave in Wasilla.
She is from a family a totally disfunctional family:
-17 Year old with a child done by an 18 year old
-The 18 year old whose mother was arrested for drug dealing
-The 18 year old who is proud of being a "White Trash"
-Being someone with the education and intelligence of a 4th grader
Do we really need to keep hearing about them?, please make them go away!
Keep it coming, Republicans. The angry, bitter, rhetoric that continues – long after their angry, bitter campaign – and will only lead to defeat after defeat after defeat. They just don't seem to know that you have to take your hand off the burner to stop the pain.
Here we go again........same ol crap from all you Democrats who hate this women for now reason other than she's succeeded in life beyond anything you'll ever accomplish in life.
Don't be a hater............you found your "messiah".........now all get in line for the handouts!!!!!!
He's already finding out that Congress doesn't see the "messiah" qualities.........they must be haters too huh??
