(CNN) - Sarah Palin is credited with making Tina Fey a world-wide star and boosting Katie Couric's ratings at CBS.
But in a recent interview with conservative John Ziegler, Palin said both "exploited" her twelve-week candidacy - a fact, she said, that "says a great deal about our society.”
Fey's widely-applauded portrayal of the Alaska governor boosted SNL's ratings, while Couric’s audience grew after a series of interviews during which Palin now-famously faltered.
“I did see that Tina Fey was named entertainer of the year and Katie Couric’s ratings have risen," Palin said in the interview. "I know that a lot of people are capitalizing on, oh I don’t know, perhaps some exploiting that was done via me, my family, my administration - that’s a little bit perplexing, but it also says a great deal about our society.”
The Alaska governor was particularly upset with an SNL skit during which Fey's version of Palin said, "I believe marriage is meant to be a sacred institution between two unwilling teenagers."
The line was a clear reference to Palin's 18-year-old daughter Bristol and her fiancé Levi Johnston. The two announced shortly before the GOP convention that they were expecting a baby and had plans to marry.
"The mama grizzly rises up in me, hearing things like that," she said of a skit. "Here again, cool, fine come attack me. But when you make a suggestion like that that attacks a kid, it kills me."
In the wide-ranging interview, Palin also faulted the McCain campaign for agreeing to a series of sit-downs with Couric after the first one appeared to go so poorly.
“I knew it didn’t go well the first day, and then we gave her a couple of other segments after that," she said. "And my question to the campaign was, after it didn’t go well the first day, why were we going to go back for more…going back for more was not a wise decision either.”
During one of those follow-up interviews, Palin took heat for appearing to be unable to name the newspapers or magazines she reads: "Um of them, any of them that have been in front of me all these years," was the Alaska governor's response.
In the interview with Ziegler, Palin called that answer "too flippant" and suggested the question itself offended her.
“To me the question was more along the lines of, ‘Do you read, what do you guys do up there, what is it that you read?’”
"...Katie, you’re not the center of everybody’s universe," Palin added off-handedly.
Palin, who has long criticized media coverage of her campaign performance, also said she is interested to see if reporters are equally tough on Caroline Kennedy as she pursues the appointment to the likely-vacant Senate seat in New York.
“I’ve been interested to see how Caroline Kennedy will be handled, and if she will be handled with kid gloves or if she will be under such a microscope,” she said.
“It’s going to be interesting to see how that plays out and I think that as we watch that we will perhaps be able to prove that there is a class issue here, also that was such a factor in the scrutiny of my candidacy versus, say, the scrutiny of what her candidacy may be," she also said.

Make a belated New Year's resolution and resolve to focus on the job people elected you to do. You're getting a hefty salary for that.....not to mention a stipend for living in the Governor's Mansion when you still live in your own house. (Not too squeaky clean on that little issue, are you?)
Anyone deserves continued scrutiny when they're seeking a crucial office, yet demonstrate with every statement and action that they're clueless. Apparently Palin can't even grasp the point of the "unwilling teenagers" joke: It's not an attack on your kid, lady. It's an attack on your own "family values/personal responsibility" hypocrisy.
As for why she's still news – I'm sick of her too, but so long as the wingnuts keep waving her around as the Great White Republican Hope, her serial idiocy needs to stay on public view. We can't afford to forget why we rejected her in 2008.
"Oh how I love using liberal standards in responding to these issues."
Then you ought to try it sometime, instead of the standard Republican cheap smear thru innuendo.
Palin should not even compare herself to any of these women. She is barely educated and can hardly string a cohesive thought or a sentence together. What good has she ever done for this country that she didn't receive a dime for? She only took the nomination to make a name for herself and she still can't get out of the media 3-4 months later. Fey, Couric, Clinton and Kennedy are intelligent, funny, prepared, and do not sell their souls for the media spot light. Each one of them has contributed something to this nation freely... Palin kills animals from Planes, makes fun of the average person not from Alaska, thinks we should pay for her entire families wardrobe, thinks ethics do not apply to her, only to her opponents. She is the train wreck in her own career. Her daughters boyfriend was given a job by her husband's company when he knocked up her daughter so she would look good on national tv... Come on...talk about selling snake skin oil.....
Sounds like a huge, steaming pile of polar bear poop to me.

If you can't say something nice about someone don't say anything. Sarah Palin or anyone in that position doesn't deserve all the trash the public seems to enjoy dishing out. as a christian I am offended by Sarah Palin. Instead of focusing on the media, I would rather she focus on her family and her job. It is obvious that her daughter and future son-in-law is going to need a lot of guidance and support since they do not have high school diplomas and are teenage parents. Furthermore, her son in iraq, her son with learning disabilities and her other two daughters will also need her love, support, guidance, and utmost attention. Add to that a husband and the whole state of Alaska, and well, the media is the least of her worries. This isn't about liberal or conservative this is about a mother/wife/governor who is failing her family and her state chasing national political fame.

Fey's job was to lampoon you! Couric's was to interview you. You provided a royal flush of comedic material and were lucky you didn't have to speak directly to other journalists once the world knew how unprepared and silly you looked.

There is really no need for further coverage of this person. She exploited McCain and the news media, and now she complains of being exploited.
If I understood Couric, Palin asked for another interview. And it was Palin who responded to simple direct questions by Couric by making an a_s out of herself. With Fey, she loved the attention from SNL and kept coming back to be on SNL It's time for this person to stop playing victim. And its time for the media to drop coverage of her. Our country has far more important matters to deal with then to hear anything further about this great family values family.
For the next release, Palin 2.0, I'd like to see a politician who is versed in rhetoric and able to deliver a cogent sound bite:

Palin also needs to take the off season and seriously wonk up. As a random governor snatched out of Alaska, she performed as well as could be expected. However, if she wants to stay on the scene, she needs to become well versed, and be ready to rumble with anyone about issues.

As far as Tina Fey goes, she is a talented comedian. If you paid any attention you would have realized all political candidates from the recent election were parodied. Didn't YOU make the decision to appear on SNL?
Katie Couric is a journalist who handled you with kid gloves; YOU were the one who could not provide answers for some very easy questions. YOU were the one who was unprepared for the interviews. Sorry, I just don't understand the continued expression of hatred for this woman. So, you didn't like her and you didn't vote for her. Why continue to berate her? Put your energy into praising the duo that you elected. Lord knows, they've got a lot to accomplish once in office.
