Palin takes digs at Fey, Couric

Palin had tough words for Fey and Couric.
Palin had tough words for Fey and Couric.

(CNN) - Sarah Palin is credited with making Tina Fey a world-wide star and boosting Katie Couric's ratings at CBS.

But in a recent interview with conservative John Ziegler, Palin said both "exploited" her twelve-week candidacy - a fact, she said, that "says a great deal about our society.”

Fey's widely-applauded portrayal of the Alaska governor boosted SNL's ratings, while Couric’s audience grew after a series of interviews during which Palin now-famously faltered.

“I did see that Tina Fey was named entertainer of the year and Katie Couric’s ratings have risen," Palin said in the interview. "I know that a lot of people are capitalizing on, oh I don’t know, perhaps some exploiting that was done via me, my family, my administration - that’s a little bit perplexing, but it also says a great deal about our society.”

The Alaska governor was particularly upset with an SNL skit during which Fey's version of Palin said, "I believe marriage is meant to be a sacred institution between two unwilling teenagers."

The line was a clear reference to Palin's 18-year-old daughter Bristol and her fiancé Levi Johnston. The two announced shortly before the GOP convention that they were expecting a baby and had plans to marry.

"The mama grizzly rises up in me, hearing things like that," she said of a skit. "Here again, cool, fine come attack me. But when you make a suggestion like that that attacks a kid, it kills me."

In the wide-ranging interview, Palin also faulted the McCain campaign for agreeing to a series of sit-downs with Couric after the first one appeared to go so poorly.

“I knew it didn’t go well the first day, and then we gave her a couple of other segments after that," she said. "And my question to the campaign was, after it didn’t go well the first day, why were we going to go back for more…going back for more was not a wise decision either.”

During one of those follow-up interviews, Palin took heat for appearing to be unable to name the newspapers or magazines she reads: "Um of them, any of them that have been in front of me all these years," was the Alaska governor's response.

In the interview with Ziegler, Palin called that answer "too flippant" and suggested the question itself offended her.

“To me the question was more along the lines of, ‘Do you read, what do you guys do up there, what is it that you read?’”

"...Katie, you’re not the center of everybody’s universe," Palin added off-handedly.

Palin, who has long criticized media coverage of her campaign performance, also said she is interested to see if reporters are equally tough on Caroline Kennedy as she pursues the appointment to the likely-vacant Senate seat in New York.

“I’ve been interested to see how Caroline Kennedy will be handled, and if she will be handled with kid gloves or if she will be under such a microscope,” she said.

“It’s going to be interesting to see how that plays out and I think that as we watch that we will perhaps be able to prove that there is a class issue here, also that was such a factor in the scrutiny of my candidacy versus, say, the scrutiny of what her candidacy may be," she also said.

Wah wah wah, Sarah's feelings were hurt. This is the same person who said Obama was a friend of terrorists.

Suck it up Nancy. If you can't stand the heat, stay out of the kitchen.

P.S. Your fifteen minutes is up. Go away. Go help Joe the Plumber find a job so he can pay his back taxes.

Does Palin realize that she is a laughingstock? Or, does she really believe her own BS? Whatever. Here are some ideas for her future political campaigns: Palin and Wurzelbacher in 2012: Dumb and Plumber. Or, Palin and Van Susteren in 2012: Beauty and the beast. I mean, if you are going to go out and look foolish, why not go all the way?

Hey, come on everybody. Give it a rest. I hear they finally have found a job for Ms. P. The porn industry has formally requested a bail-out from the Obama administration. If they grant the money, Ms. P. will be appointed PORN TZAR. Now THAT makes sense!

Lets fact it...the women (girls) on this are jealous of SP's accomplishments (i.e. running a state) and looks (i.e. beauty queen gorgeous). The men (boys) realize they could never "get" a girl like SP. Postings here are high school, nothing more.

BTW–the overwhelming negative postings is due to the high unemployment rate (and idle time) for idiots.

Sarah, dahling. Tina Fey used your exact words for most of her scripts. Katie only asked a question - it was the answer that was dumb! DoDo.

Sarah Palin just doesn't get it.......If she were better educated, better informed and better read, as she should have been in order to be a more credible candidate, then these "issues" would not have been made.

I'm guessing that she got through school with Cliff's Notes and "Hamburger Helper" phrases.....

Grow up, stop whining and admit to your failures, Governor.......you are a big fish from a tiny puddle. You were out of your league.

Why, oh why, does anyone keep reporting anything this airhead says?

If you keep talking to her, she won't go away.

And she is no Caroline Kennedy. A woman of grace and character. I

Yep, it says alot about our society alright. It says that we were wise enough to recognize that she was a completely unqualified buffoon who had no business running for VP. She gave Tina Fey plenty of material to work with. Honestly, Palin shouldn't open her mouth and dish it out if she can't take it.

Sarah Palin is right, the fact that Tina Fey was named entertainer of the year does say a lot about our country: It says that we are a free democracy that is allowed to criticize and ridicule our politicians. I, for one, am proud of that.

Ignorant and misguided are no way to go through life, Sarah.

Without a doubt, you are one of the most intriguing people in the spotlight today, but mostly in a "car wreck" kind of way.

Sarah should have done what Obama did and just hide his family from America. I have never seen them, have you? I know I've seen a woman and two girls on stage with him and in magazines and television interviews, but there is no way that they are his wife and daughters. Obama would never, ever allow anyone to see them, would he?

The press exploited her? And I suppose it was Katie Couric and Tina Fey's idea to have Palin bring her newborn son to crowded, noisy events for the Republican campaign? Make up your mind Sarah...are you a pit bull or a grizzly?

Palin is the Worlds largest side show attraction. Everytime she opens her mouth she shows the World that she was not and will not ever be ready for any higher political office. I am very happy most people of America were smart enough not to elect her as Vice-President and very scared of the people who did vote for her to be Vice-President. I do know that I can now never visit Alaska for fear the whole state is like her.

"I know that a lot of people are capitalizing on, oh I don’t know, perhaps some exploiting that was done via me, my family, my administration — that’s a little bit perplexing, but it also says a great deal about our society.”

Palin is a master of making what SHOULD be a simple sentence, into a longwinded, incoherent jumble of words far too large for her vocabulary. I'm tired of reading/hearing her speak. She should exploit some grammar books via the library.

They can ask as "tough" a series of questions to Caroline Kennedy. She will be fine. She isn't a moron. Furthermore, it does give us commentary on our society. That the people of Alaska can elect that total moron, and that a large segment of our population would actually try to elect her to VP!!!
