Palin takes digs at Fey, Couric

Palin had tough words for Fey and Couric.
Palin had tough words for Fey and Couric.

(CNN) - Sarah Palin is credited with making Tina Fey a world-wide star and boosting Katie Couric's ratings at CBS.

But in a recent interview with conservative John Ziegler, Palin said both "exploited" her twelve-week candidacy - a fact, she said, that "says a great deal about our society.”

Fey's widely-applauded portrayal of the Alaska governor boosted SNL's ratings, while Couric’s audience grew after a series of interviews during which Palin now-famously faltered.

“I did see that Tina Fey was named entertainer of the year and Katie Couric’s ratings have risen," Palin said in the interview. "I know that a lot of people are capitalizing on, oh I don’t know, perhaps some exploiting that was done via me, my family, my administration - that’s a little bit perplexing, but it also says a great deal about our society.”

The Alaska governor was particularly upset with an SNL skit during which Fey's version of Palin said, "I believe marriage is meant to be a sacred institution between two unwilling teenagers."

The line was a clear reference to Palin's 18-year-old daughter Bristol and her fiancé Levi Johnston. The two announced shortly before the GOP convention that they were expecting a baby and had plans to marry.

"The mama grizzly rises up in me, hearing things like that," she said of a skit. "Here again, cool, fine come attack me. But when you make a suggestion like that that attacks a kid, it kills me."

In the wide-ranging interview, Palin also faulted the McCain campaign for agreeing to a series of sit-downs with Couric after the first one appeared to go so poorly.

“I knew it didn’t go well the first day, and then we gave her a couple of other segments after that," she said. "And my question to the campaign was, after it didn’t go well the first day, why were we going to go back for more…going back for more was not a wise decision either.”

During one of those follow-up interviews, Palin took heat for appearing to be unable to name the newspapers or magazines she reads: "Um of them, any of them that have been in front of me all these years," was the Alaska governor's response.

In the interview with Ziegler, Palin called that answer "too flippant" and suggested the question itself offended her.

“To me the question was more along the lines of, ‘Do you read, what do you guys do up there, what is it that you read?’”

"...Katie, you’re not the center of everybody’s universe," Palin added off-handedly.

Palin, who has long criticized media coverage of her campaign performance, also said she is interested to see if reporters are equally tough on Caroline Kennedy as she pursues the appointment to the likely-vacant Senate seat in New York.

“I’ve been interested to see how Caroline Kennedy will be handled, and if she will be handled with kid gloves or if she will be under such a microscope,” she said.

“It’s going to be interesting to see how that plays out and I think that as we watch that we will perhaps be able to prove that there is a class issue here, also that was such a factor in the scrutiny of my candidacy versus, say, the scrutiny of what her candidacy may be," she also said.

The Liberals on this board are a joke. Anyone with any objectivity clearly saw the media bias against Sarah Palin. Obama 58 states gaffee was never reported, but CNN can't stop talking about Palin's daughter's boyfriends mother?!?!? LOL.

The topper is the same people are NOW trying to defend Caroline Kennedy's interviews with every fighting word.

Sarah Palin is a smart, Sarah Palin is hard working person.

People like her, the elites hate that. She pollswell with many key demos, hell she was voted as the "most desirable neighbor" politicians can't BUY that type of middle American appeal.

Was Sarah Palin ready to be President in 2008? No. In 2012? 2016? We'll see.

Her fiscal record is strong. Her appeal is huge. Her enemies won't stop.

If she doesn't step off the national stage and do some great things for Alaska and America her political career is over. It's too much!! I think she is probably a good person, who has a lot to offer, just not now. She is very close to becoming a Tanya Harding type.

Many of you same Obamabots that idolize his every word or idea and hammer anyone that opposes him at all be it a Democrat or a Republican, good for you, your guy got "selected", not "elected", but he won, so congrats.

Sarah Palin sleeps well at night knowing that NOT ONE OF YOU LIBERAL geniuses in your entire LIFETIMES will ever accomplish:

Being asked to participate in a beauty paegent and coming in second place

Will never be a sports anchor

Will never run a successful business

    Will never be elected Mayor

    Will never be elected Governor

Will never be named the MOST POPULAR Governor in the country

Will never, ever, ever, be considered for the Vice Presidency

You never will have thousands and thousands of people at a rally screaming your name because they LOVE YOU.

And best of all, she isn't done yet....

She's just upset that when she had the opportunity to make herself a better candidate while being interviewed by Katie, she failed miserably. That is no one's fault but her own though obviously she can't own up to it.

ahhhhhhh the blame game continues. maybe you didn't win b/c your not-electable?! remember that you were the one that kept compairing yourself to a dog on the campaign trail. oh and by the way, last time I checked caroline kenndey isn't reaching for the 2nd highest office in the land. that woman could read or write you under the table and she just seems to have things that you don't, like...an education.

Ugly liberal women still spewing their venom over attractive, successful Sarah Palin.
Oh yes, let's see what the media has to say about the unqualified, born with a silver spoon, never done a darn thing Caroline Kennedy. A US senator? I think not. Ya know? Ya know??

Sarah Palin gave the media the ammunition. Katie Couric could not help that Palin could not answer questions, especially one so simple as, "What do you read?"

Sarah Palin should quit blaming everyone else for her failures and move on.

Hello my liberal/progressive friends. Like it or not, Sarah will be back much stronger. She may even be your next president. I suspect you hate her so much because you are afraid of her.

I have to admit – Palin has made politics so entertaining. I could almost sympathesize with her re. the Couric interviews – she was a bit condenscending and maybe that caught her off-guard – but the Tina Fey thing is ridiculous. SNL has been lampooning political candidates since they started – and she freakin' willingly appeared on the show right next to Tina!!! Come on though, you know we all love reading about her. I'm just waiting for the moment when she shaves her head and attacks a car with an umbrella.

It' truly amazing that this trailer park trash keeps in the news constantly.....I guess she must like it, especially when her knocked up daughter who had that baby out of wed-lock, and Palin thinks that good 'ol "levi" is going to be an apprentice electrician.....who is she kidding ??
I don't HIRE electricians (apprentice) who cannot get their G.E.D.
OR get a High School Diploma..... Levi cannot get his GED, because he's got his you know what up her skirt !!

and cannot get his GED because he wouldn't get a Tutor....and still could not get a GED because he could NOT understand the Tutor...

Palin, put your big girl panties and quit complaining! You were running for VP for crying out loud. If you can’t handle a little scrutiny under a microscope, maybe you should reconsider your future political aspirations, why don’cha?

This woman has no one to blame but herself. It was she who was answering the questions, or not answering the questions. It she who brought her pregnant daughter into the picture.

What's really illuminating here is Palin's reaction to Couric's question about what newspapers and magazines she reads. She says, “To me the question was more along the lines of, ‘Do you read, what do you guys do up there, what is it that you read?’”

No, you idiot, the point of that question was to find out how you keep informed on current events, national and world affairs. Are you really that dumb? Based on your response and reaction, I guess so. And if the Republican Party feels Palin is their "future," they are simply contributing to the dumbing-down of America. I'm glad I left the Republican Party.

The Republicans should tell this lady to shutup. She is really hurting her party. If this lady is the future of her party, the Dems will be in office for a long time....

I agree with Sarah in one point, they shouldn't involve her children in any skit . Now pointing out that she is under qualified to hold the position of VP ( 1 heart beat away from the position of president) is another story. She is to blame for putting herself in this position to begin with. She was the talk of the town when she couldn't even complete a sentence, Africa a country, Bridge to nowhere, Racial attacks, Seeing Russia from parts of Alaska and Her winks. Another lame excuse to point fingers when there is 3 pointing right back at you. GET OVER IT : [ NEVER TO BE PRESIDENT SARAH ] !!!

Geez.. will she ever give up? She was the one bad mouthing Obama and Biden, saying some truly hideous lies and distortions. Now she wants to whine about how she is protrayed? Get real Moose Lips. You complain about Tina Fey, and yet the idiot you are, you appear on SNL? She did more for you, than you did for her. She is still loved as a celebrity with brains.

Why doesn't she go over and see the plumber, we all came to realize was a fellow idiot. He was another person who looked like, and acted like, a total dunce.

I'm glad they are both off the charts now. If only they would both shut up and go away.

i agree that america has become a melting pot of smear. Nobody looks at the real qualifications only the fact of how badly they have been mocked, socked, and smacked. I am still trying to figure out how a person becomes president of the US by having carisma. The very things they did smack on Palin about, Abama has the same shortcomings. Go figure.
