Obama makes Marvel comics debut

President-elect Barack Obama is a fan of the comic book superhero Spiderman.
President-elect Barack Obama is a fan of the comic book superhero Spiderman.

(CNN) – Barack Obama’s appeared in hundreds of publications over the past year - but his latest cover shots may be his most animated yet.

The president-elect is featured on an upcoming issue of Spiderman, which will be released January 14. While it’s not the first time a President has been featured in a Marvel comic, it’s the first time a president-elect has graced the cover. Marvel Comics is giving a tribute to the future commander-in-chief, an admitted Spidey fan.

In the issue, character and newspaper photographer Peter Parker is on an assignment to cover the presidential inauguration, where Obama’s character appears. Parker’s alter-ego, who once famously said, “with great power comes great responsibility,” later joins the president-elect in a fist-bump, a reference to Michelle and Barack Obama’s well-known show of affection before his on-stage acceptance of the Democratic presidential nomination.

I hope the President and First Lady do the fist bump on inauguration day, in front of the nation. It is a sign of their personal unity a vital first step to unifying our entire nation!!!

This is a riot. Never in the history of the world has an individual received such celebrity, such a free pass....for not accomplishing anything...Jesus Christ had more difficulty convincing people, after he performed miracles in front of them.....This guy and his band of Chicago thugs have fooled so many; we're in trouble because the minority of the country; the ignorant libs, managed to ride the wave of corruption perpetrated by ACORN and seat the most inexperienced, controversial individual in our white house...Conservatives...let this be a lesson; in 4 yrs or less (I imagine he'll show such an incompetency that even the media can't cover it up, and he'll resign or get impeached)....but, in 4 yrs, we have to move, and move hard to remove the liberals. Because they're supported by the media, they appear to be the majority..however, they're not if you research polls not executed by CNN's research group....so, let this be our lesson and we'll eat humble pie...and in 4 yrs we'll have to repair the damage obama's done...after all, he's truly a comic book figure.

Because other presidents have NEVER been in a super hero comic. Surely Kennedy never was in Superman, and Roosevelt never cheered on superheroes as they fought the Nazis....

You can clear up most of your misconceptions by doing fact checks. You see, Hannity and Rush are entertainers, and are really not a good source of truth.

The problems the republicans face have not been created by the media, but by 8 years of giving a not too bright president free rein with no checks and balances.

Though I don't agree with everything TCM said, there's nothing in his/her comments that smacks of racism. But Proud American and others pull the race card every time their "hero" (for lack of a better word) is attacked. This is the same sort of mislogic that several use to support the seating of Burris – even though that also had nothing to do with race.

This could be a dangerous trend. I will agree or disagree with Obama based on his views and policies. The fact that he is black has nothing to do with it.

Mostly I'm furious at what has happened to my America. We as citzens are responsible for allowing this to happen, and now it's time to wake up and owe up to our failure. Obama happened along at the right time as someone who appears to be keenly interested in re-building the wrecked nation that Reagan, Bush 1, Clinton, and especially Bush 2 has created.

If he fails, he fails. It would be very hard to exceed the faiure of Bush, and I spit on all those who try to defend Bush and the Republican and Democratice enablers who let this disaster happen (are you listening Dianne Feinstein??).

I know this sounds crazy, but I just got a call from a friend of mine, and they are taking their 2 kids, and have already booked a flight going to D.C. for the Inauguration day ceremony......not only that, but they ended up "renting" a 6' X 6' spot on a Lawn for an overnight thing.....in someone's YARD ! I was practically speechless when they told me that they spent $3500.00 (thirty five hundred dollars) for the spot......NOW, that's crazy !!
They are taking Sleeping Bags, for the overnite thing !
    WoW !

If you liberals want to see real hate that you are accusing repubs of, go to any CNN Palin site–by the way, they only post one or two pro-Palin–they do not want to lose you kids as posters.

And here we go again! The liberals fawning over their candidate: remember, the "yes we can" candidate can barely get his own democrats to agree on his economic plan! I think he is better off as a comic book hero – that way he can lave a legacy behind. Will Obama get his "pipe" serviced at the White House as well! ;-)

Do you actually research the crap you are saying or is it just a bunc of hoohoo you recite from Hannity, Limbaugh, and O'Reilly.

You do realize those three DON'T research anything other than biased sources to get a pre-determined point across? Right? You do realize they don't actually attempt to show what liberals do well? It called an agenda.

And as for Jesus performing miracles... in a hundred years when us humans start telling the tall tails of what Obama did to fix this Republican mess that was created by the Bush idealogue then you'll start hearing about all Obama's miracles. That's how Jesus got his miracles into print... us humans.

    TCM – Newsflash

The GOP is a thing of the past. You can hide behind conservative; however, everyone knows that is just a politically correct term for “divisiveness”. Make no mistake President Obama is going all the way! Four years from now “conservatives” will be like dinosaurs . . . extinct. The world has changed. The American people expect and deserve REAL change in a nation that recognizes that ALL people are created EQUAL. I’m sorry to have to tell you this TCM . . . you are not SUPERIOR. You and people who think like you are the reason the Republican Party lost! The American people have evolved . . . unfortunately for you and the GOP, you all have not. Too Bad . . . so Sad; now you are LEFT BEHIND!

Perhaps we will see you in 2024; the next stop is Hillary USA.

    @ Proud American

    Much agreed.

TCM, you are entitled to your opinion and I respect you for voicing it, but why don't you wait until P.E. Obama takes office? Blasting out claims about a man that has done nothing but INSPIRED people around the nation and offered nothing but postivitiy is rather harsh. Conversely, why aren't you making comments on how the conservative party turned itself into a circus for a period of time, thus causing them to lose the election in the first place?

If anything, why not stand behind the newly elected President... YOUR President? You may not have voted for him, but don't you think it's about time we all started to rally behind and guide him so that we ALL prosper?

    Just sayin', man.

PS...should have known the pathetic, typical nay-sayers would rear thier heads...First off the comic doesn't make Obama out to bea super hero just fetures him in it. Obama has been humble in all of this and has even asked for the help and support of everyone. Matter of fact he has been quite open in saying that our current challenges will be very difficult to fix and will take sometime; not something someone with a huge ego would do like McDidn't and Bushie. If you nay-sayers wern't so caught up in your blind hate you would realize that. The only ones trying to exhult Obama to some thrown or make him something he isn't is the right wing nut jobs. If as you guys claim, isn't walking on water you all blasfeam by calling him a messiah among other pathetic sour grapes nick-names.
I take great comfert knowing that you all will be soon consumed by your own hate, baseless attacks and negativity.... good luck with that...RIP

from comments: "Spider Man, I hope your watching over this guy. "

Now I have to assume the poster of this was joking but after hearing some Obama supporters speak, I always wonder about their grasp of reality.

This is not a small thing. Many times during the campaign Obama asked us to suspend our reality. Take for small example when he was campaigning in the capitol with press and cameras. When asked about whether that was ethical (it is not permitted on federal property) he just said "I am not campaigning". We could all see he was but he expected we would just ignore reality that we could all see.

We are being asked, not just by Obama but by all of the DNC and RNC to not be aware of what is real and what is not. Bush did this ALL the time getting us to buy into his Iraq invasion.

Now we see Obama supporters making up videos, hacking email, threatening non-believers and they don't see any thing wrong with it.

Always Question Authority. Although I might get sent to re-training camp for such a statement.

    TCM,

More and more republicans are supporting Obama. Also, 60% of Obama's votes came from our white brothers and sisters. In 4 years you will be eating crow, and Obama will be reelected by an even bigger landslide. Nothing will stop this movement. Woohoo!!!

TCM you need to take your anger out on those who failed you this past 8 years. Obama won the election fair and square for several reasons. He's intelligent, articulate and personable and he is a change from Bush and the republicans who have destroyed our economy, good standing in the world and, worse still, caused the death of countless thousands of human beings. Republicans lost in spite of and because of all their dishonest and unethical behavior.

When you stop sniffing what ever you are sniffing and act like a decent human being you can take your dunce cap off.

A "fist-bump" is not a show of affection, Sarah Parker (if that's your real name). It's a show of respect, usually between college drinking buddies.

It's now also known to be staged during a presidential campaign to attract media attention like your's.
