Crowley: Obama faces daunting challenges on two fronts.
Crowley: Obama faces daunting challenges on two fronts.

The economy and national security are two of Obama's biggest worries heading into office, CNN's Candy Crowley reports.

Obama knows nothing about either one. He can't make a decision and has never run anything. How can the american people be so dumb?
~~~~~~~
You're absolutely right. The economy and the nation's security would be in much better hands; those belonging to Palin. The enemies of the United States would surely fear and respect her. And you could feel better about turning on your T.V. and not seeing an accomplished African American man.
belief   January 10th, 2009 6:39 pm ET
i think u people need to stop judging obama and allow god to work thru him, after all it was god who put hiim there anyway.i think when he get in the chair the change will begin to be manifested . so to all of yall haters just try the spirit by the word.
Obama is going to be the President for all Americans and you to BK....
Gary,
Thank you for your post ,you are dead nuts right on the target,unfortunately the average voter for whatever reason,has not figured it out yet,but in ten days they will start too,and I don't think in two or three years anybody is going to be happy.This could have been avoided if everyone could,or would understand just one thing,the government is the problem,not the solution.
rhodesia   January 10th, 2009 6:29 pm ET
Hey Ivy.... just what exactly are "somethings"? ha ha I don't call voting "present" running ANYTHING.
No Hillary = No Obama   January 10th, 2009 6:26 pm ET
It couldn't have happened to a nicer guy.
Debby   January 10th, 2009 6:25 pm ET
Well lets see if he can do something for this country vs. just being the status quo rock star.
floridian loves Obama   January 10th, 2009 6:24 pm ET
The people who judge him should run for office. You Bush voters gave Bush a chance, TWICE, so give Obama a chance too. Look, not one person commenting on this board has any clue how to handle this country any better than Obama. At least he has the IQ, pragmatism, education, political experience and good team to give it a shot. No one is perfect, if you are perfect, however, run for office in 2012. He has major issues to confront as a leader, but remember, a country is a POPULOUS, not just one man. It takes efforts in all different levels to make the country thrive from the individual, city, county, state, federal, legislative, judiciary and executive to make this work. Shut up unless you have real ideas and solutions. I am an educated woman and I still don't have any idea for Obama, this problem is larger than any one individual so the know-it-all people, seriously...run for office or support the President and do your individual part.
Has anyone seen Paulson?   January 10th, 2009 6:24 pm ET
I hope Obama can find Paulson before he makes a clean getaway. someone go see if Paulson is hiding in Chile yet with all our money.
Wrong. 54% of the people voted him in and just like Bush and Clinton before him he takes office with 1/2 the country not liking him very much and waiting for him to deliver the sun, the moon and the stars...just like he promised.
Promises made knowing full well what issues and problems existed. There are no surprises.
He best deliver quick.
Joyce in Indiana   January 10th, 2009 5:58 pm ET
No one has presidential experience until he has been president.
I feel very comfortable having voted for Obama because he is educated and extremely intelligent, and I believe his learning curve will be very short, as opposed to the outgoing president who, after eight years, is still making foolish statements and wrong decisions.
gabe   January 10th, 2009 5:47 pm ET
i think barack has no choice but to allow the 2nd part of this bailout money to go through. this is the reason that i have turned my back on this gov't and have no faith in it . its just for the greedy few. bushes PARTING GIFT for him and the good ol boys. and now they got their attack dog boehener and pellosi to secure it w/ whinning for tax breaks and tax cuts. ain't that right boehener
Judy   January 10th, 2009 5:46 pm ET
He'll be just fine. He's smart, he's practical, he's surrounded himself with an excellent cabinet, and he has his faith. He also has the backing of a majority of the America people. I'm proud to call him my President.
I bet you thought Sarah Palin was comptent enough to be VP.
Look where so called experience has gotten us. Its time to see through all of the smoke and mirrors and let someone with some intelligence and intergrity run this country. Stop believing the HYPE about the so called experienced.
tess   January 10th, 2009 5:21 pm ET
without a doubt obama's biggest trouble brewing is having the clintons working behind his back to destroy him – it amazes me that he and michelle allowed them to bully him into putting her in his administration. he will be so sorry one day but it will be too late – they will have done their damage and she will run against him in 4 years. hopefully the media will at least be truthful in reporting hillary's back-stabbing and under-cutting of her president – o well, i can dream can't i?
Amber   January 10th, 2009 5:20 pm ET
I wouldn't wish his job on my worst enemy.
Godspeed, sir.
Mac   January 10th, 2009 5:19 pm ET
People keep saying how smart he is but all I see is the same old Democratic policies being played out. Today he announced that he won't be able to put into place all the things that he campaigned on near as fast as he said he would.
The Democratic leadership is also calling for changes in his plans. Less tax breaks. There is also talk of a $1.00 tax per gallon on gas to pay for his "green" programs.
Some change – bigger government – bigger spending – and we the tax payer get to foot the bill.
bk, I think President-elect Obama has done a pretty good job of making decisions so far, and apparently the majority of americans think so too. They voted him in, and have given him high marks for performance during transitions...even die-hard republicans. Even those of us who ddn't vote for Bush...either time...at least gave him a chance to prove himself. He failed pretty soundly. I don't think Obama can do any worse, and he just might do a whole lot better.
TCM   January 10th, 2009 5:02 pm ET
In an interview on ABC's "This Week," President-elect Obama is warning that his campaign promises will take longer than he expected to carry out, and that Americans will face more of a burden than many have realized. REALLY? Gee, the next thing he'll "Breal to us gently," will be that it will cost much more than predicted....See libs, it was all a fancy, high-tech game of 3-card monty to get votes...he's clueless about how to ACTUALLY fix any problem dealing with this country....what he is good at is repetitively stating the obvious with convincing conviction...."...Uhh...what we...I mean, What what all need to do is, uhh....address this problem...and uh....fix it.."
ALRIGHT! Way to go! That's the resolution! Conservatives despise him, but you libs are going to hate in him in a year or less!
v   January 10th, 2009 4:59 pm ET
But there's always Canada if you'd rather live in another country. However, I think the people there are positive and prosperous. Your temperament couldn't handle that, and they wouldn't tolerate you the way we do. Oh well, c'est la vie!
Pelosi and her sidekick, Reid are in for a good *** whipping. They will find out soon that the real man of steel is in the "House." Those two are roaring lions with no teeth. The real Lion of the Tribe of Judah is with President-Elect Obama, and he will not cower nor fail!
Jan Illinois   January 10th, 2009 4:49 pm ET
What's to worry about ? Stop all the waste from the two wars, the pork barrel spending, reform all government offices including welfare reform and disability giveaways, do something about illegal immigration. Then start to rebuild America, roads, bridges, schools, etc. Build America back, to where we produce our own products, you can't by a coffee cup or a pair of socks made by USA workers it's ridiculous. Last get back all the money that the Bush administration has stole from us and has hidden in overseas accounts.
KLS   January 10th, 2009 4:48 pm ET
From 1994 to 2006 the Republican have had control of congress so please explain to me how can you blame our current situation on Reid and Pelosi?
Ivy   January 10th, 2009 4:45 pm ET
BK, get over it. He is a smart man, and very intelligent. He has run somethings in his life. Stop being so insulting of President Elect Obama.
Gary   January 10th, 2009 4:42 pm ET
Obama is a good guy but without experience it will be difficult for him to protect us and restart the economy. Maybe it'll take him 2 year to really get settled in as president. Most of the problems are inherited and not his fault but now will be his responsibility. Somehow he, like Bush before him, missunderstands economics and thinks that if the governent just borrows more money and spends it that we can fix a economic depression which at is root is based on too much borrowing at the federal, state, local, corporate and person (housing, credit card, car loan and student loan level) levels. Just once I'd like a president who understands sound financial prinicples, one that doesn't make promises we can't afford, doesn't give money to special interests or to people who won't work. This situation is sad.
pat C.   January 10th, 2009 4:40 pm ET
why can't some of you dumb folks give this man a chance? we the people voted barack obama into office because we need his intelligence and knowledge to get us back on the right track to save america. for those of you that did not vote for hin...get over it!!
we the people have chosen and HE will be the best president the united states has ever had.
LaTreetha E. Sharpley   January 10th, 2009 4:33 pm ET
Those people who write that President-elect Obama, has never run anything did not see how he ran his campaign. Get over it we finally have a very intelligent person running this nation who happens to be African American. He knows more about running this nation than the person now holding the office. The American people are not dumb, but have finally awaken to say we want our nation back.
mimi   January 10th, 2009 4:33 pm ET
bk......Obama is brighter than you think. He knows how to bring great minds together to solve the problems the U.S. faces.......without lying and bringing out the missiles.
PA   January 10th, 2009 4:30 pm ET
Well Candy there's just been one more worry to make three Biggest Worries heading into office! If Bush gets away with grabbling the $350 mil Obama & Biden I'm afraid will be eating lots of Crow while McCain smiles at the Din Din! The Dems can't let Bush get away with this one or they'll be begin their reign in under a huge cloud of Doom!
Mahalia   January 10th, 2009 4:28 pm ET
The truth will set us free.... Here are some of the truths: The root cause of this entire mess in America is the total collapse of the fundamental core that made America great, the morals, ethics and accountability for one's actions that ruled our society in the recent past; Obama's plan will never work for it does not target the root cause and the almighty money will only feed greed; The only one who can help us is the Eternal God if we humble ourselves and repent and ask Him for His loving providence...
democrat 4life   January 10th, 2009 4:28 pm ET
you all are haters
Anti-Palin   January 10th, 2009 4:27 pm ET
These are the 2 biggest worries of every President. If the economy goes down the tubes than you don't have money to do anything, and if your national security is at risk than you might not survive the rest of your term. Obama can handle both because he's intelligent and listens well. He doesn't need to know everything about everything. That's why a president has advisors. And a little news flash for many people who don't know this: Nobody knows everything about everything even if they are experienced.
larry   January 10th, 2009 4:25 pm ET
bk.....How about PEBO has run one of the of most financially successful political campaigns in modern history... which I'm sure required more than a decision or two. Maybe you are that dumb American about which you speak.
Do you honestly think John McCain knows what to do if he was the PRESIDENT? I don't think so.
Hey! bk, Two Bigher Problems, aware, and binnmer:
Our President-Elect Barack Obama has more brains in his head than the combined Bush Administration and you four clowns ever had.
Accept it and live with it. Obama may just become our greatest president one day.
Terry   January 10th, 2009 4:13 pm ET
The economy is the problem that drives all other problems. Without the ability to raise funds to deal with natural (like Katrina) and military disasters (like 9/11), the US cannot solve its problems.
We need to get real about terrorism. About 6000 Americans have been killed in the war on terror. Since 9/11, more than 30,000 Americans have died from aspirin use. 6,000 Americans will die today from alcohol and tobacco use. Since 9/11, no terrorist has so much as keyed a car in America. This is not world war II. This is a police problem.
Liberal administrations come in to repair the damage done to the nation by Conservatives. The Wilson, Roosevelt, Truman, and Johnson administrations got sucked in to a war (rightly or wrongly), and their domestic agendas were forgotten.
It is important that the Obama Administration not get sucked into international adventures. We need to solve our problems at home.
It is also important that Conservatism be wiped out, once and for all, before it destroys the nation.
To bk and bimmer and anyone else still angry over the election results:
Like it or not, in ten days we will see Barack Obama take the oath of office to become the 44th President of the United States.
As someone once said, sometimes you can't control the situation - all you can control is your attitude toward it.
Even if you did not vote for Obama, and even if you wish anyone else but him were becoming president, we all need to unite as Americans to work our way out of the economic crisis we are in.
Anger and bitterness from those who opposed Obama - and smugness and arrogance from those who supported him - will only keep us mired in the misery we all want to get out of.
The people of this country should be pulling together and support the leaders. I appreciate living in a free country and feel God has well blessed this country. The people have created a terrible mess and only by working together will be survive. No one is perfect and the elected officials can only do what the people permit them to do. All of the people in this country need to be on their knees and praying for our future.
Jason   January 10th, 2009 3:54 pm ET
the economy: organize the world into no longer allowing the rich to get away with exploiting the poor. The economy is in crisis because less than 1% of the population has 90% of the world's money.
national security: establish a national media source that is free of commercials, commentary, and other opinions – just the facts. Most of our national security issues are present because our government lies to us about what it does with our money. We need to forever have a way to prevent them from doing it again.
tired of corporate politics   January 10th, 2009 3:51 pm ET
International diplomacy is a big problem. His campaign approach of just telling the current audience whatever they want to hear will just make everyone angry. Look at how he messed up the Cuba discussion during campaign. And he is scared to even come up with a soft opinion on Gaza after his pro-Israel charade.
I hope Hillary can save our image.
Meka   January 10th, 2009 3:51 pm ET
I STRONGLY DISAGREE:
1- THE ECONOMY WILL BE PRESIDENT OBAMA'S CHALLENGE.
2- NATIONAL SECURITY WILL TAKE CARE OF ITSELF . . . WHEN AMERICA STOPS UN-CONDITIONALLY SUPPORTING ISRAEL. AMERICA SHOULD NOT BE SUPPORTING A GOVERNMENT THAT HOLDS ANOTHER PEOPLE IN BONDAGE, NO HUMAN RIGHT (MEDICAL, FOOD). ISRAEL TOTALLY CONTROLS THE PALESTINE PEOPLE. THEY NOW HAVE REACHED OUT TO HAMAS FOR HELP!
YOU COULD SAY . . . AMERICA HELPED PUT HAMAS IN POWER!
After all, Dubya messed up the Texas baseball team he had. Dubya messed up everything he has touched.
Dubya did not read the memo warning of 9-11. Dubya definitely showed a lack of experience on his non-handling of Katrina.
Dubya had NO experience or brain!
It is going to take years before the U.S. economy is back on solid ground; no matter what the Obama administration does. The hole dug by Bush/Cheney is simply too deep to be fixed overnight. In the meantime Barack Obama can do some real good by restoring the U.S. to the international good guy status very quickly by seeking real and lasting peace in the Mid-East; by being an HONEST broker in the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. I truely believe the Arab world will now finally give Israel recognition; IF there is a just solution to the Palestinian homeland status. A return to the intense diplomacy of the Clinton-Carter years may finally bring peace to the tragedy and blood-shed of the last 60 years. GIVE PEACE A CHANCE!
IF obama had one care regarding National Security...........he would certainly not propose a train ride to D.C. that causes such a National Security problem. Nor does this man CARE about the Cost of this Security Problem and what the American people must pay for his security.
This man will be the MOST Egregious Spender of American Tax Dollars that this Nation has ever witnessed, both personally and for his personal presidential whims or needs, not to mention hard working Americans' Tax Dollars spent just to make him happy.
Congress should NOT allow obama to take the train to D.C. because of the cost of the event. This is money that does NOT have to be spent and will WASTE American Tax Dollars when they are needed for other necessary purpose.
This will also be the MOST EXPENSIVE inauguration in the history of America. We do NOT need 4 years of SATISFYING obama's personal expense that is not necessary and cost so much more money. There has never been a more egotistical or arrogant man who has entered the political arena. o needs some 'humble pie.'
