HAPPENING NOW: Bush holds last press conference

President Bush is holding his last press conference.
President Bush is holding his last press conference.

WASHINGTON (CNN) – President Bush said Monday that a "sustainable cease-fire" in Gaza could only be accomplished when "Hamas stops firing rockets into Israel."

Bush said that the "choice is Hamas's to make." He also stated that the best way to get a sustainable cease-fire is to "work with Egypt to stop the smuggling of arms into... Gaza.

"Countries that supply weapons to Hamas have got to stop," Bush said.

Quite a news conference it was! Bush confessed some of his errors, and defended others.

May God have mercy on his soul!

Well, that is essentially correct - did you finally decide to start listening to your military advisors? It doesn't help that Hamas has decided to install their command bunker under a UN hospital, either, or storing weapons in schools and shooting rockets from them!

The final Shock and Awe!!! One last attempt at rewriting history and telling America we didn't hear what we thought we heard. Just like the famous man's greed, Deny, Deny, Deny and if caught in the act say you didn't see what you thought you saw!!! Pathetic for a President to act as low as a cheating husband!!!

these countries will never stop, it's all they know and it's what they want, we need to take care of the U.S, and leave these countries to their own way of life.

Go away please Mr. President. How about those that supply weapons to Israel so they can continue to murder innocent people over and over and over again. Hopefully Obama will be able to see both sides and come up with a real solution.

I still do not understand why people are blaming all of this on Hamas. Just think about of folks, if you lived in a society where your movements were restricted, you were impoverished, your land that was once yours was riped away from you due to some idiocy mandate created after WWII, you'd be pissed too. Now, what the Palestinen people need to do is start policing thier own and demand that thier leaders stop firing rockects into Isreal and the US needs to stop aiding this reckless behavior of Isreal and demand a cease fire. This whole notion of Hamas being some "rouge" party is crap. Hamas was democratically elected, under UN watch. We supply weapons to Isreal which is used on the Palestinens daily, why should they not have the right also to protect themselves. That is insane. It's just like the British were pissed at France for supply weapons to the Revolutionaries here. Why? Because at the time we did not have the capability to make them.

THE ONLY SUBJECT THAT THIS IDIOT, NAMED GEORGE BUSH, MUST TALK IS THE ACCEPTANCE OF HIS GREATEST THAT CAUSED THE DEATH OF OVER 4220 OF AMERICA'S BEST YOUNG HEROES WHOW WERE SACRIFICED IN IRAQ FOR THE MISGUIDED DECISION OF DISASTER GEORGE BUSH.
AS THIS IDIOT CALLED IT DURING THE BEGINNING OF THE IRAQI WAR "THE NOBLE CAUSE", HAS BEEN DELETED FROM ALL SPEACHES OF GEORGE BUSH. HOWEVER THE PARENTS OF ALL THOSE YOUNG AMERICAN HEROES WILL NEVER FORGET AND FORGIVE THIS IDIOT NAMED GEORGE BUSH FOR WHAT HE CONTRIBUTED TO THE MISERY TO ALL THOSE PARENTS, MOTHERS AND FATHERS, WIFES AND HUSBANDS, DAUGHTERS AND SONS AND TO ALL THOSE BELOVED ONES WHO LOST A DEAR MEMBER OF THEIR FAMILY. THERE IS NOTHING THAT CAN REPLACE EVERY LOVED ONES WHO DIED BECAUSE OF THE MISGUIDED DECISION OF GEORGE BUSH, DICK CHENEY AND THE REST OF THIS PRESIDENT WHO STILL IS TALKING WITHOUT ACCEPTING HIS GREATES MISTAKE. A MISTAKE THAT IS INDEED RECORDED IN AMERICA'S MODERN HISTORY AS "THE DARKEST DAYS" OF OUR BELOVED COUNTRY.
SHAME ON YOU AND ON ALL THOSE WHO STILL DO NOT ACCEPT THE LOSS OF OUR HEROES AS THE ONLY AND THE GREATES MISTAKE OF THIS IDIOT NAMED GEORGE BUSH.

I think it is sad how so many people come on these blogs and comment as if they have any idea what they are talking about. We civilians have no idea what goes on fully, I am sure history will paint the truth. Be is a positive or negative one, however making such hateful comments while having little information just goes to show how ignorant people are. You believe 1 person made everything bad happen? Really? Talk about a scape goat.

I am very concerned for PE Obama. He is human, he is just a man and he has to work within the same system. He can not possibly change as much as people are thinking he will, it is not possible. I pray that the warm fuzzy feelings do continue so he can get things done, I just see that people in that system are already turning on him and he has not even moved in yet.

  16. The other guys

While I agree that Bush made lots of mistakes and I'm glad to see him go, we can't lose sight of all the others that need to go. Both Democrats and Republicans. The problem with blaming Bush for everything is that the others that are responsible get away with it. I'm talking about both parties at local, state and federal levels. Don't be a stooge for either party and believe them when they say it was all the other guys fault.

I don't know if Bush is the worst president ever. Carter was pretty bad, as was Nixon. It depends on which criteria you use.

For instance, if you measure by honesty, then Carter would be one of the best, and Nixon would be the worst. Clinton and Bush would both make the bottom five.

If you measure by economic issues, then Bush would be by far the worst, with Carter as second worst.

If you measure by war/peace, then Bush would be among the worst, but so would LBJ. Both advocated wars based on misinformation.

I am confused by this whole Bush kept us safe thing. During the Clinton years there was 1 attack on american soil and a couple abroad. During the Bush years there was a worse attack at here, a dozen abroad, and 2 full scale conflicts that lost more more people than 9/11. The only thing protected during the Bush years was Iraq oil and what did we get for help and security, oil prices sky rocketed. I am confused. What did Bush protect us from?

I have a visual picture that reflects Bush and Cheney's legacy. They are standing on an aircraft carrier which is setting on the water/houses of New Orleans (Katrina), Behind them is the sign Mission Accomplished with sailors being tortured and behind that are towering flames from 3 wars raging in the mideast and in the background a hugh mountain with a small sign at the boyyom (debt).

The cnn quick vote question for today:

"Which dog would be right for the obamas?" a Portuguese Water dog or a Labradoodle.

I would suggest the perfect pick would be a combination of White poodle and Black Labrador would fit nicely.
