HAPPENING NOW: Bush holds last press conference

President Bush is holding his last press conference.
President Bush is holding his last press conference.

WASHINGTON (CNN) – President Bush said Monday that a "sustainable cease-fire" in Gaza could only be accomplished when "Hamas stops firing rockets into Israel."

Bush said that the "choice is Hamas's to make." He also stated that the best way to get a sustainable cease-fire is to "work with Egypt to stop the smuggling of arms into... Gaza.

"Countries that supply weapons to Hamas have got to stop," Bush said.

If you do not use your brain, evolution, a real dynamic process, can go backwards.

Let Israel pound away. It's about time our allies do some of the heavy lifting in the Middle East.

If Bush wants credit for preventing another attack SINCE 9/11, then he must accept that he failed to prevent the attack ON 9/11.
He was President before, during and after 9/11. His job was was to secure the country for that entire period – not just SINCE 9/11.

So much hate. Let's see how long it takes for Obama to actually be criticized. He hasn't been yet. I'm sorry, but Bush has made mistakes like EVERY president. Presidents aren't perfect. Bush has done nothing to make my life worse and he has kept this country safe for the past 7 years. I cannot ask for more than that. You cannot blame him for the economic crisis. Only fools sit back and name call. Let's see how critical these fools and media will be with Obama. I'm proud to be American. We are the most generous country in the world and that continued with Bush and his administration. Show me who helps as much as we do...I bet you cannot.

    to CONFUSED,

You are not confused , your ignorant-That terrorist attack on 9/11 KILLED 3000 plus people, injured 1000's more ,destroyed much of New York, killed people at the Pentagon, and killed everyone aboard three airline jets, wrecked our economy, and caused fear across the entire nation. You must not have had a family member lost or injured, there for you don't really care,as with many other, that were not directly involved.Anyway,President Bush did not allow that to happen again,so thank him and ALL the people involved in protecting us ,they HAVE done a GREAT JOB !!!!!!!!

President George W. Bush is a man of God........Be careful what you think of him.....He was sent to do a job and it is finished.......We will see the results when God is ready.........God works in his own time frame.......I believe Bush was sent here like Moses , John the Baptist, the 12 decipils, Mary, Joseph and all of the saints, we read about in the Bible.........."BE STILL AND KNOW I AM GOD"

How soon we forget. Pres. Bush inherited a failed and weak foreign policy from Clinton, and has kept the U.S. safe ever since. Sure, there have been mistakes in the Iraq war, and we lost some brave soldiers in the battle, but without bold and decisive moves to control world tyrants and terrorists we would probably have seen much more devistation and loss of life on our soil. He should be remembered for his valiant efforts in the fight.

    TO j. dean,

You do not appreciate what Bush and all of the civilian, military, and government people have done to protect you and your family from another 9/11,which in one day ,almost as many people died on our soil as have died in the last seven years protecting our civilians, like you.

We as a nation better hope and pray the Obama administration can do as well.(they cann't do better,Bush's administration on this issue was perfect)

The man has no conception as to what he has done. When his mistakes are pointed out to him, like Dick Cheney, his answer is "So What". He has no idea that he has competely destroyed the reputation of the U. S. of A. in all of the free world. It is going to take decades to repair the damage this man has left as his so called legacy. Lord help him if he decides to travel outside of the U. S. A. The Hague is not below having him kidnapped with his cronies to stand trial for crimes against humanity and it will be well deserved.

President Bush, your village called, their idiot is missing and needs to be back by January 20, 2009. Do not miss the plane. AND please stay there.

We bid you adios George. Go build your presidential library in Texas and then stay there. I've heard that we will be thanking you at some point for what you have accomplished, but I really do fail to see what you have accomplished. You didn't capture Mr. Bin Forgotten, you started the snow ball effect of a failing economy, you took away several of our rights as American citizens. Have fun in Texas with your longhorns

J-Dean – that's about the stupidest thing I've seen posted; Bush responsible for 4220 deaths...do your research, clown. About 1/3 of the deaths are none combat related...it's an all volunteer force...and there are a great number of training deaths each year...in summary...Bush is responsible for ZERO deaths, no one made any service member sign on the dotted line. They were over there protecting our way of life, over here....Had Bush not taken the battle to them, they'd have attacked us on our own soil again, which will happen under this incompetent you're sucking up to. No one likes a death to occur in the military, I know, I was there. However, what's worse is whining, sniveling people like you with a sense of deserving entitlement....In time you'll see how Bush kept us safe...unfortunately, it will be sooner than we think.
