Joe the Plumber: Ban media from war

ALT TEXT

(CNN) – ‘Joe the Plumber’ Wurzelbacher told a group of journalists covering the conflict in Israel and Gaza that he didn’t think the media should be allowed to report on war.

“I think media should be abolished from, you know, reporting,” Wurzelbacher said. “You know, war is hell. And if you’re gonna sit there and say, ‘well, look at this atrocity,’ well you don’t know the whole story behind it half the time, so I think the media should have no business in it.”

Wurzelbacher arrived in Israel on Sunday to start a 10-day assignment for pjtv.com, a Web site run by the conservative media outlet Pajamas Media. The plumber-turned-foreign correspondent said he wanted to cover Israel’s side of the conflict, because he thought the media was slanting the story to make it look like “Israel’s being bad.”

In his first day as a reporter, Wurzelbacher described the hardships of daily life in the southern Israeli town of Sderot.

“I’m sure they’re taking quick showers, I know I would,” Wurzelbacher said. “So you can’t plan your day, you can’t take a picnic.“

Wurzelbacher said he thought Israel should have attacked Gaza sooner. He told a group of reporters that he was a “peace-loving man,” but that "when someone hits me, I'm going to unload on the boy.”

He got a first-hand taste of reality in Sderot, when his group heard sirens warning of a rocket attack. With cameras rolling, Wurzelbacher and his group ran into a shelter.

“I’m in the bunker, I’m sitting there angry, outright furious, that I’m letting this terrorist dictate what I’m going to do because they’re firing missiles,” Wurzelbacher said. “It was fear at first, then outright anger, and then me wanting some kind of retribution. I’m not a person that runs from things, but when it’s a missile, you run.”

Hi there, reporting here from "Real America."

Joe, you're a complete idiot, and you and your moose-hunting folksy bimbo chummies can go sit in Gaza and side with whoever you feel is "right", just leave the rest of the world (including the rest of us in America who actually have our heads NOT in our rectums) out of it.

While you're there, might I recommend picking up a history book and learning about the region, rather than just throwing catchy one-liners at it that might work in your local bar, but not in the international scene.

Here's hoping he takes a mortar up the tailpipe.

For me, nothing is more outrageous than some uninformed coward westerners who live, sit and dine in the comfort of their peaceful countries who take to the streets branding Israel as the bad bully boy. I don't know where there were when the terrorist regime of Hamas in Gaza fired the first rocket. One Israeli life is as important as a million Palestinians and the vise versa.
The west is fast kowtowing to the radical Islamic threat and this is not good for the world today and posterity.

And the reason we care what Joe the Plumber thinks, considering he has no knowledge about anything nor can he express himself with any sense of intelligence?

Since this guy is now part of the "elite" media why is he reporting on war when he himself said media should not report on war. Who the heck cares or listens to this guy?!

I wonder how "good" old Joe the plumber would fair in Gaza. If he doesn't believe in the coverage of t he "news" of war, then why and in who's name is he over there in. I understand that the USA upports the State of Israel , however, when 40 percent of the rising last count of 740 people in Gaza that have died are women, children and civilians than when is what is happening truly "overkill".

Hey Joe take a walk on the wild side and see the atrocities there, then let give us your unbiased report, not that I belive you are capable of doing so.

When they look back at when it became apparent to all that the Republican Party was finished, they will look at articles like this one. What a complete and utter moron. What an intellectually bankrupt party.

What the media should be banned covering is idiots who aren't really named Joe, who aren't really plumbers, who don't pay their taxes, who don't make more than $250K and who don't have a clue as to what they're talking about. BTW Sammy boy, a real "peace-loving man" would take a lesson from Jesus Christ and turn the other cheek. But you're neither peace-loving or a man. You're a stupid idiot. May Hamas end your pathetic existence with a mortar round or rocket so that we never see you back in the US again! Better yet, maybe some IDF "friendly fire" will do the job.

It it wasn't for McCain and the "big bad mean media" Joe the fake plumber would still be lying about his plumbing credentials in Nowhere, USA.

Something tells me "Joe" is for the media, as long as it is covering the side of the story he wants to hear. Very un-American of you, "Joe".

Idiot. Moron. Reactionary. Ignorant. Hopped up on testasterone. Myopic. Unpatriotic. Imbecile. A joke. A boor. A bonehead. A fake. Immoral. Inhumane.

Hmmm... sounds like the last eight years.

This guy makes me laugh. He and Sarah Palin are perfect for each other. Bush doesn't make me laugh because he's been at the head of so much disaster and tragedy.

I vote for this Clown to be Chairman of RNC or perhaps a Spokesperson for the RNC. Judging the IQ of RNC figures they could not have asked for a better spokesperson then Joe

And BTW, Hamas is not a terrorist organization – they are the democratically elected government of Gaza. They are attacking Israel with rockets because Israel has imposed a seige on their territory... what do you expect them to do. Sit back and take it Joe, or if somebody is hitting them, shouldn't they unload.

    What a freaking moron.

tallking to Obama bought this guy into the limelight.....so he afterward states disdain for Obama and joins the campaign of John McCain...who does more than enough to keep him in the spotlight...then afterward he throws McCain down, STEPS on him, keeps going and becomes an unqualified reporter in a war zone although he professes to have a dislike for the media. All of this while not REALLY being a plumber and not paying his back taxes. Yet the GOP want him as a spokesman for their party. Am I the only one that sees the irony in all this or has this just become the American way of getting to the top?

Joe the what? Plumber...politico....average Joe....reporter? Jack of all trades and master of none?

The average Joes are trying to figure out how to pay their bills, keep their jobs and keep food on the table. I don't think the average American needs an Average Joe translating the problems in the Middle East. We don't need one more version of events. There's no good guys/bad guys, just Average Middle Easterners ducking and keeping out of the line of fire of extremists and terrorists. We didn't care what you he had to say in October and November and don't care what he has to say now! Please don't anyone think that "Joe the Plumber" is representative of Ohioans, either! I'm proud of my state and baffled by the interest in this idiot!!
