President Bush will address the nation Thursday night.

WASHINGTON (CNN) – President Bush has requested time from the networks Thursday evening to deliver a roughly 15-minute farewell address from the East Room of the White House.

Anyone who sticks up for bush after all the bad he's done, you guys are all IDIOTS! He needs to shut up and just sail off into the sunset! And give Obama a chane he can't fix all that bush messed up over night.

Has anyone seen Paulson?   January 12th, 2009 10:32 pm ET

Lets have and old shoe party next week, everyone bring your old shoes and we can burn them in the villiage square and sing songs of joy for his departure.

Independent Female Voter   January 12th, 2009 10:28 pm ET

This is why I and other independents will never vote Republican again. How can you republicans call liberals idiots when you voted for him twice? I could respect you all much better if you could acknowledge that this man messed up the country and the world big time. Instead you choose to be stuck on a stupid ideology. I hope he has a lot of time to reflect on what he did. Instead he has this bogus attitude like so what, and you republicans are willing to accept that.

Stop hating on Obama. I think you are all more scared that he will do a good job of getting us out of this mess that the republicans created, and you won't be able to rag on him.

Bush and Cheney both deserve a third term...in Prison!

Enema   January 12th, 2009 10:26 pm ET

Sure he should get network time, why not? As long as Dennis Kucinich gets equal time for rebuttal.

Irritated in Fl   January 12th, 2009 10:24 pm ET

And he should get it. Oh, I forgot, better let Osama know so that he can purchase some airtime and grandstand over the Presidents time.

AFTER ONE YEAR OF OBAMA, WE WISH WE CAN HAVE YOU BACK, TRUST ME. THANKS FOR ALL YOU HAVE DONE. GOD BLESS.

Proove it Mark

Patrick   January 12th, 2009 10:22 pm ET

I'll miss him for nothing else than how angry he got the left; it brought me joy everytime I read a message board like this one. Guess you'll all have to start thinking for yourself now...

RAAGOS   January 12th, 2009 10:19 pm ET

OH YEAH IF ITS LAST TIME HE SPEAKS NEX 10YEARS JUST NEED TO GO SOMEWHERE ASK GOD FORGIVENESS ALL SINS HE HAD MAKES US PAY

KATHY   January 12th, 2009 10:17 pm ET

I am amazed that we are not hanging our heads after the end of these 8 years. I listened today with much sadness. We need to get away from the time of not being accountable for our actions and President Bush is the inventor of not being accoutable. I keep going back to being sad....may Jan. 20, 2009 be our proud return. I just keep shaking my head after todays press converence by Bush!

Franky   January 12th, 2009 10:16 pm ET

Ohh boy, this is it. There goes my boy were we go way back...were tight, you know? Were tight like that...

Believe it or not, I am gonna miss him. Is just sometimes that's how it is. Plus, if the Prez is worried about getting attacked, TRUST ME, we are already looking ahead and as a matter of fact, we are already having debates to what can happen later. I will say we had an interesting one that i think is fascinating in many aspects and while everybody is breaking down "analysis" to what people expect and want, let's go back in time.

For example, I could break down the "play-by-play" video on Hillary's 3:a.m ad. Or the most infamous "Shame on you." Give me the video, and I'll break that analysis better than breaking X's and O's! I'm telling you, got my "analysis" but since I am a Conservative, it is controversial, LOL!!

Annie, Atlanta   January 12th, 2009 10:16 pm ET

Is this the longest farewell tour in our history, or what? Hey Bush, we got it, you're trying to convince us "you done good." Problem is, we have you on miles of tape, so save it.

@Barack Obama still just B.O.: What are you talking about – he hasn't been sworn in yet. You must be one of those folks we can all thank for voting for Bush not once, but TWICE! You definitely "done good."

Bill Charlotte, NC   January 12th, 2009 10:13 pm ET

Give him the time. There are at least 13 people, other than his mom and dad, that will be interested.

I hope he apologizes to the city of New Orleans for his neglect......I hope he apologizes for his mother who publicly stated, "Those people will be better off".

I hope he apologizes to the widows and the fatherless children in this country and those wounded in Iraq. May we never have a President who is so out of touch. Let's hope he can be as gracious as McCain.

Meh   January 12th, 2009 10:01 pm ET

Rick> 9/11 happened on Bush's watch. He did NOT keep the country safe.

terry brannon   January 12th, 2009 10:00 pm ET

i did not vote for bush, and i did not agree with his decisions. he deserves respect, however. most of these responses are on an elementary level and reflect your own shortcomings. where's the love and respect for our country?

Harry   January 12th, 2009 10:00 pm ET

First off, I'm not saying that I supported Pres. Bush and his decisions, but I think that we should all give him the right to make this address. Lets face it, he had a huge impact on our lives, and while many don't like him and can't wait for Obama to take office, he should get his time. I do feel bad for him at times. He had one of (if not the) most important positions in the world, and he will have people that like him and people that don't.

I do have to give it to him. He never wavered in his convictions and always felt as though he was doing the right thing, and did things with the best of intentions. And lets face it, he was elected into office for a reason. Shame on all of us for saying that we all elected him into office, and then to do things that many of us did not like and then for us to turn our backs on him and say that we don't like you any more? thats BS. While I can't wait for Obama to take office, Pres. Bush should be able to get his 15 minutes...

Peter (CA)   January 12th, 2009 9:57 pm ET

Looks like that last 27% are on here today.

You will never cease to amaze me. Bush has failed over and over and not only do you praise him but you also criticize Obama before he even comes into office.
Even though he is already showing so much more ability to think and plan than Bush ever did.

legal in nc   January 12th, 2009 9:57 pm ET

Can't wait to pay the same respect to Hussein Obama that you liberal koolaid drinkers have paid to President Bush!!!

Gonna be so easy to pay that SAME respect!

EJS   January 12th, 2009 9:52 pm ET

I thought this guy didn't listen to the Polls, so why a farewll address, he's certainly no George Washington, I don't recall other Presidents having farewell addresses, It seems a little untimely and poorly planned (as usual), no I don't want hear him cry on TV, Hes Whole Political career was a huge SHAM, he failed miserably at absolutely everything and is still getting Kudos from the press because he's considered American royalty....

Gerry in Va. for Obama.   January 12th, 2009 9:51 pm ET

Still in there trying to change how the American public thinks about him. There he was on ALL the news this morning telling lies about the economy and the war just like he always has. Why should we allow him 15 more minutes of our time to try and B.S. us as he walks out the door. He needs to just go away. Preferably to jail for the rest of his thieving life. HEY W... NO MATTER HOW YOU TRY TO SPIN IT, YOU COULDN'T CHANGE OUR MINDS ABOUT YOU IN 15 ZILLION YEARS MUCH LESS 15 MINUTES.. JUST GO TO TEXAS AND SHUT UP... WE'VE HEARD ENOUGH OF YOUR LIES...

No Incumbents 2010   January 12th, 2009 9:44 pm ET

@ Rick
The "Civil War" was not a Cival War. The Southern states were not trying to take over the government, they were trying to get the federal government out of state's business or state's rights. Slavery would have ended in the South without the war. Slavery is horrible and was just an issue the feds used to start what they have been doing ever since. Sticking there noses into everyone elses business and taking yours and my rights! Yes this country is divided – those who want the government to leave hardworking adults to make there own decisions as to what is good and not good for them. Those who wish the government would get out of private industry and private matters and just govern. And those who don't want to work as hard and want the government to take care of them cradle to grave. Those who want the government to protect them from themselves – A nanny state.

Sue   January 12th, 2009 9:44 pm ET

Americans may not like indecisiveness, Rick, but they like liars a lot less. Bush this morning called No Child Left Behind a success! I don't know a teacher in the country who would agree. Underfunded, too many strings, and not working! But that and the helicopters that rescued people from roofs in NO are his big successes. And when he smirks and says that he knew and approved of torture, he is setting himself up for a criminal investigation, either from us or another country. Can't happen too fast!

MLH   January 12th, 2009 9:41 pm ET

as long as President Bush's 15 minutes don't get abused like the ones that were given to Sarah Palin and "Joe the writer/reporter/countrysinger/Plumber" I'm all for it.

CMG   January 12th, 2009 9:38 pm ET

My gosh, George, what is there left to say? Do you have any clue as to what you have really done to this country? Please just walk away and don't look back. I can't imagine how I will describe both you and Mr. Cheney to my grandsons. The only chance you have of looking good in the history books is if Sarah Palin becomes President. No doubt, she will out do you.....I'm sure those folks in Dallas are thrilled at your establishing new residency.

It seems like the mature and intelligent thing to do.

chris@stl   January 12th, 2009 9:23 pm ET

I listened to his pathetic speech this morning .... If he needs another 15 minutes for another pathetic delusional speech, no problem ... go ahead.

rick   January 12th, 2009 9:21 pm ET

Bush never shied away from a tough decision, and he kept the country safe. I also doubt there will be very many changes under Obama, yet Obama's supporters are expecting so much from him. Obama is a play-it-safe, risk avoidance manager – he'll tread water rather than make a move. Americans don't like indecisiveness.

Rick Sutter   January 12th, 2009 9:20 pm ET

Comments here are proof positive that we will NEVER be united in this country. Maybe that's for the best. It's better to vent here than to have another civil war, I suppose.

john   January 12th, 2009 9:20 pm ET

Wonder who is writing his speech. Watching him spin the BS is like watching Sarah: it hurts so much to watch, but ya can't look away.

So eerily surreal, will he implode on TV like he did in part of this morning's media meeting....Nah, he'll just dig in his heels and say sompin like, When you're right, you're right."

(Even when he's been SO wrong.....)

The dude still thinks the world sees us as a moral leader....the guy wears horse-blinders and packs cotton in his ears, unless Darth Vader signals, "Listen to me for a moment!"

No, no ! Do we have to be subjected to this nonsense? He wants to have a bunch of people come out and tell the world what a good job he has done. Well…we all know better. He did not do a good job. He has left the nation in one hell of a mess and to all of you idiots out there that think he kept our country safe, think again. I can only hope in my lifetime the truth comes out about how much he was really responsible for 9-11.
I sure hope all of the networks don't give him air time. We should have a choice as to whether we want to watch him or something else. I want something else.

that might be the only thing he has done in office that I agree with

I can't believe he was in 8 years and we can't point to one thing he accomplished

I'll be watching and hoping he tells us to "suck it" and outlines what he accomplished because I have given this a lot of thought and have been challenged by co-workers to find one thing, just one thing he accomplished and I can't do it

So Bush, or Bush helpers, please request that as a parting gift, it will make me feel better than I do now, now I think Bush was a complete nightmare and disaster

Ken in NC   January 12th, 2009 8:26 pm ET

Why can't he do the farewell thing just before he gets on the GrayHound Bus to go back to Texas? It would not take 15 minutes of his time for him to say "Good-bye". It's only two words.

This will be a double celebration. We will be celebrating the departure of Bush and the arrival of Obama. Two reasons to be happy. WOW

bush said he wants to return to private life. we want him to also. it can't happen soon enough. hopefully we won't have to look at his stupid face again, until his stupid brother jeb desides to run for president. that should end rather quickly. because I'm sure people will NOT forget the years 2000-2008. And if people are soooooooooooooo stupid or forgetful as to elect another stupid bush then America deserves what we get. Each time a bush is elected to the White House it gets worse and worse. Just looking at that idiot on tv today made me laugh, he sounds just as stupid as he looks. his presidency was a complete and utter desaster. he has nothing to be proud of. BIG DUMB BELL.

"As soon as men decide that all means are permitted to fight an evil, then their good becomes indistinguishable from the evil they set out to destroy."
from THE JUDGMENT OF THE NATIONS by Christopher Dawson.

This sums up Bush's legacy, and from what I read from his supporters, they have bought into the evil as well.

Neutral   January 12th, 2009 8:11 pm ET

Only history will tell whether or not he is the worst President. So far he is far from it.

Popcicle   January 12th, 2009 8:10 pm ET

A little less vitriol folks. The end of this Administration is near. Let the formalities play themselves out and make room for what will hopefully be a transformational change in American governance and reputation around the world. Gitmo will soon be gone and the healing process will begin. Hope for the future and work toward healing the past. There is too much to be done to perpetuate the pettiness and hostility. This is the time for progressives to show how to lead and accomplish. So please, stop using the Rove play book. It did not work for the current party and it will undermine the future. In short....give it a rest and be prepared to stop yammering and work toward accomplishing.

Let me be clear and unequivocal; I don't like George Bush and never voted for him. That being said, he is not Satan personified as some of the comments I'm seeing hear would imply. He made more than his fair share of mistakes, but he also did some good as well. And he also survived 8 years of what is arguably one of the hardest positions in the world. I will not miss him, I am extremely happy to see him go, and I am estatic to see Barack Obama become our next president. But I would ask all of my fellow Obama supporters to at least grant the man basic respect.

Poor President Bush   January 12th, 2009 7:30 pm ET

You guy's can't be more stupid. This man went into office within 7 months he had barely had time to learn the name of his staff and then we get hit the biggest terrorist attack. So all of you so called americans decide he wasn't a great president. To me he was one of the best. What would you have done!! Most of you so called americans would have resigned!! HAHAHAHA because your all cowards!! This man did what he thought was best and come to find out it was a good move. So unless you've been a president to face these issues!! SHUT YOUR MOUTHS!! HMM!! as an 79 yr old military retiree[22yrs cold war] to prevent an attack. We were pretty successful until 911. It seems that the attack was provoked by an inexperienced ,incompetent ,administration.A few miiion [ME"S] ruined the soviet union and were ashamed when REAGAN took credit for his TAKE DOWN THIS WALL note someone probably wrote for him.44 years [ of Me'S] kept this country safe until incompetency almost ruined it. Now millions of other [ME"S] will eventually get back the honor and respect this great country once had.

Brenda C   January 12th, 2009 7:21 pm ET

You bunch of liberal nuts are going to watch it and we all know it. You wouldn't miss the chance to have something to whine about on the comment board tomorrow. Don't worry you'll have plenty of time to whine as you try to defend your new master.
We love you President & Mrs. Bush and please keep us in your prayers as you well know we will need it. You realized your were commander in cheif not an actor going for actor of the year or a grammy. Thank you President Bush for standing your ground instead of caving into everyone just to be popular. You did have enough sense to know that's impossible to be a true leader.

Dustin, surprise. You need to use spell check. My response to you is that President elect Obama voters are the intelligent ones. Remember? He did not receive the low information votes. You'll are too busy being bitter.

Judy from PA   January 12th, 2009 7:12 pm ET

Nice people on this blog. President Bush wasn't my favorite President, but he was still OUR President. A number of bloggers say how Obama is OUR President and we all need to get behind him even if we didn't vote for him, why is the same not true for Bush? I would like you to explain to me how Bush was responible for the subprime mortage mess. Probably the same way Clinton was responible and took credit for the internet boom.

Rick Roberts   January 12th, 2009 7:11 pm ET

I voted for Obama!!!!!! Let's be real here, I also voted for Bush the first time. Let us hope yhat I made a better choice than I did when I voted for Bush. YES he is an IDIOT but until the 20th of this month, he is OUR IDIOT.
Let us pray that Obama is as good as we believe he will be.
GO OBAMA/BIDEN

What are all you democrats going to complain about next? After a majority in both House & Senate, a democratic president, what will your excuse be in 4 yrs, in 8 yrs? Maybe one day you will learn the problem is with Congress not necessarily the President. I can't way for all of you guys to just go away and stop complaining.

The only thing Bush is going to say are a bunch of lies and excuses as to why his Administration was so poor.

M. Ann D.   January 12th, 2009 6:48 pm ET

Out of the respect of the office, I wish President Bush the best in Texas. I will not say anything negative about him, believe me it will be hard to do that. But the guy is leaving soon and that is good enough for me. I might even watch the 15 minutes.

Good riddance,   January 12th, 2009 6:46 pm ET

To all of you stating that we should respect Bush. Well, I cannot respect anyone who lied to get us in a war when lives were lost and destroyed. Can't speak his native language. Witnessed the death and destruction – Katrina and had the audacity to say "Brownie, you're doing a heck of a job, but did nothing to help and he saw like I did that people were crying for help. All the proud men and woman in my neighborhood who are now jobless or/and losing their homes due to Bush and his administrations mismanagment. You know I could go on, but I just want him to say I'm sorry, goodbye!

Charles Atlanta   January 12th, 2009 6:46 pm ET

His character has been set when you saw him landing on the aircraft carrier with "mission accomplished" banner on the background. It doesn't matter who put the banner there. It is a childish play. He wants to show his dad – "see, it is easy, I did it..". Kartina and doubling national debt are just additional disasters he added. Can you image if all the money and resources spent on War on Iraq have been used by growing our own economy and enhance our infrastructure? And remembered he had 80+ approval rating after 9/11 and he spent them all.

Goops   January 12th, 2009 6:32 pm ET

He deserves his 15 minutes to say goodbye to the american people. I agree that the hours of the inauguration coverage is going to be a yawnfest. Why do we have to be subjected to hours and hours of inaugration coverage. I think that considering the economy...they should have scaled the whole thing back. Obama ran on the platform man of the people...and now he is going to have big fancy parties spending all of the tax payers money. That is not being a man of the people in my book. So stop complaing about Bush's 15 minute goodbye speech. What you should be complaining about is how the "man of the people" is wasting our tax payers money in a time of great economic distress for this country. And for the people that say that he deserves it....give me a break....what did he do to deserve? Obama has done nothing yet.

PDX Gal   January 12th, 2009 6:31 pm ET

Why? Does he think he can still convince people to believe "he kept us safe" even though 9/11 happened on HIS watch??

Go away, Mr. Election Thief. We will call you if we ever get our nation's legal behinds in gear enough to press charges...

While you're all quick to part some unflattering shots at Bush, it was you that re-elected him to the White House. Those disasters were well underway in 2004 and yet Bush significantly widened his lead from 2000 to re-sit in the White House.

For all his shortcomings and general incompetence, one thing he wasn't and isn't is inconsistent. We knew what we were buying; the merchandise now sits in our living rooms.

Deal with it and be more prudent in your next shopping outing.

dyellon md   January 12th, 2009 6:19 pm ET

to Dan in NM. you should change your name to delusional. The only sane people that wish he had a third term are the late night comedians that get an easy laugh just by mentioning his name. Unless he is willing to admit Iraq was a colossal mistake, that Katrina was a huge crime against humanity, that outing Valerie Plame was morally wrong, that practically every word he said as president was a lie... well, I just ain't interested in hearing his so long, fare-the-well, goodbye y'all.

FOR THE LAST 8 LONG YEARS, THIS IDIOT DID LEARN NOTHING. EVEN HE DOESN'T KNOW HOW TO SPEAK OUR ENGLISH LANGUAGE. HE INDEED ACCOMPLISHED NOTHING. ZERO PLUS ZERO IS EQUAL ZERO.
DURING THE LAST 8 YEARS, WE WITNESSED NOTHING BUT THE GRADUAL DECLINE OF GEORGE BUSH'S ADMINISTRATION. ONE DISASTER FOLLOWED BY ANOTHER DISASTER UNTILL THE TOTAL MELTDOW OF THE HOUSING, FINANCIAL, INSURANCE, POLITICAL AND HIS FOREIGN POLICIES. BOTTOM LINE, THIS IDIOT STARTED HIS PREDISENCY WITH LIES AND IS ENDING HIS "REIGN" WITH TOTAL LIES. I JUST WONDER HOW HE WILL BE SLEEPING AT NIGHTS WHEN WE DID NOT HEAR HIM ACCEPTING THE KILLING OF OUR OVER 4220 YOUNG AMERICAN HEROES, THE BEST OF OUR MILITARY MEN AND WOMEN WHO WERE KILLED BECAUSE OF GEROGE BUSH'S MISGUIDED DECISIONS AND LIES.
YOU LOOK AT THE GACE OF THIS IDIOT AND YOU CAN EASILY CONCLUDE LIES WHICH WILL FOLLOW ANOTHER LIST OF LIES.
CANNOT WAIT TO SEE THIS IDIOT OUT OF OUR SACRED PLACE, THE WHITE HOUSE.
SHAME ON GEORGE BUSH AND ON ALL WHO HAVE THE SAME ATTITUDE TOWARDS OUR GOVERNMENT AND OUR BELOVED COUNTRY.
GEORGE BUSH THE ONLY REALITY AND THE BEST STATEMENT WE THE PEOPLE OF AMERICA AND THE PARENTS, FATHERS AND MOTHERS, HUSBANDS AND WIFES, SONS AND DAUGHTERS WOULD LIKE TO HEAR FROM YOU IS, """"" YOU AND YOUR DECISION OF INVADING IRAQ WAS THE DIRECT CAUSE OF ALL THOSE AMERICAN MILITARY HEROES WHO DIED BECAUSE OF YOUR GROSS LIES""""""".
SHAME ON YOU. MAY YOUR GUILT BE YOUR ONLY LEGACY FOR THE REST OF YOUR LIFE, IF THERE WILL BE A PLEASANT LIFE THAT YOUR WILL HAVE AFTER YOU DESSAPEAR FROM THE WHITE HOUSE.

dyellon md   January 12th, 2009 6:12 pm ET

This man is pathetic. He actually believes he did a good job and saved us from "TERRORISTS". He has done more damage to this country than any other leader in modern times. He is by far the worst President in the history of the United States of America. He dragged us into a war that wasn't necessary, ignored going after the real monsters who attacked us, ruined our reputation abroad, caused the death of thousands of American soldiers fighting a preemptive war that was ill concieved and did more to harm us than help in this world, ruined the economy by failing to regulate the greed and protect the average American, allowed New Orleans to sink and people to drown, allow torture to occur and spying on our own citizens to florish and subverting the Constitution of the USA. And he still has that same " What me Worry" look on his face. He should just go away so we can start to clean up the mess he created.

This is just another example of how Bush, and his equally oblivious supporters, do not have a clue as to the adverse impact that He and his Administration has had on our country, government, and international relations. A separate report claims that he defends the Katrina response. Words can not express the relief that I feel about his impending departure. Despite all of the Republican apologists, history will not be kind to this shallow, intellectually constipated man. A walking template of what to avoid in any future Presidential candidates.

You should have closed the borders 5 years ago and brought the troops home and invested our tax payers money in infrastructure and technology with an agenda of self-reliance.

We could be winning the battle with trade and sanctions, instead you took it personally and ruined all of us!

Take care and may God really Bless us now!!

Psychotic moron   January 12th, 2009 5:49 pm ET

the fool just doesn't get...he has bumbled and lied his way through the worst presidency in modern history....Left with a surplus, he leaves us with 2 wars, a trillion dollar deficit, fewer civil rights, My pet goat and a republican party left in shambles. Now he wants to go on all these silly talk shows and revise history. Hey Georgie, you are an idiot and a drunk..... figure it out...go sulk away to Texas and let us bring our country back to how it was before you cheated your way to the presidency.

bgriff   January 12th, 2009 5:48 pm ET

It's a shame that people in this country don't have more respect for our out going Commander-In-Chief. He hasn't done the worlds best job but he has done the best he can. I'd like to see some of these folks making these comments try to run the country better . . . . I want to see CSI too but I have enough respect to watch what he has to say. He's had to deal with allot and I think it will be interesting.

Alex Prasad   January 12th, 2009 5:48 pm ET

After he's done attempting to speak they should load him up and ship him off to the Federal Pen. And lose the key once he's safely locked away.

Dov Berkman   January 12th, 2009 5:47 pm ET

This is our President and whether you like him or not, you should have the decency to listen to what he has to say. I'm sure Barack Obama will.

Whatever your political views are, it would be nice to see some respect for the president. I hope that President Obama gets the increased respect that President Bush has been denied.

Shawn - GA   January 12th, 2009 5:41 pm ET

I think it is sad how so many people come on these blogs and comment as if they have any idea what they are talking about. We civilians have no idea what goes on fully, I am sure history will paint the truth. Be is a positive or negative one, however making such hateful comments while having little information just goes to show how ignorant people are. You believe 1 person made everything bad happen? Really? Talk about a scape goat.

I am very concerned for PE Obama. He is human, he is just a man and he has to work within the same system. He can not possibly change as much as people are thinking he will, it is not possible. I pray that the warm fuzzy feelings do continue so he can get things done, I just see that people in that system are already turning on him and he has not even moved in yet.

Tomo   January 12th, 2009 5:41 pm ET

Tom Nguyen   January 12th, 2009 5:40 pm ET

Folks:

Bush is still the US president. Show him some respect. It is kind and encourage for him to say good bye to his fellow citizens. He did lots of good things and he has made mistakes just like any one and any leaders. Obama will too. If you got twice $600 tax credit, had a job last 8 yrs and still feel safe then you need to give Bush some credit. I hope that stupid people who chewed Bush out think before they speak. How can you give Obama a thumb up of approval? He has done nothing yet. He is not even the president. Now you see how stupid you are.

At least NOW I know why CNN is failing to report the news...

Let me know exactly when, so I can plan to do anything else but watch that moron.

Voter   January 12th, 2009 5:37 pm ET

I don't recall any other exiting President having so many meetings and occasions and "lasts" in which he said, "goodbye."

Have other presidents made farewell addresses?

These appear to be manufactured opportunities for Mr. Bush to justify his actions over the last 8 years.

As far as I can see, the Americans who voted for him not once, but TWICE, then sat back and watched us fall apart have at least as much to answer for as Mr. Bush.

Michael   January 12th, 2009 5:37 pm ET

Maybe it will only be shown on the Fox News angry white southern males channel so the rest of us can watch something better.

I'm glad I don't have television.

Chris   January 12th, 2009 5:35 pm ET

Yes, he has ruined all of our lives. We can't even go to the store and purchase bread anymore. I make my living collecting mud for bricks.

Whiny crybabies. He sure wasn't the best ever but he wasn't the worst either and, until the last year when the country started finally paying the price for Clinton's mistakes with the easy money loans, this country prospered under Bush.

I hope Obama does well but Bush really did help us in many ways and he protected the country.

Ev   January 12th, 2009 5:35 pm ET

America Held Hostage T-8 Days   January 12th, 2009 5:35 pm ET

We have had wall to wall coverage for Obama by the media. Seems only fair to give President Bush 15 minutes.

I'll definitely be missing the inauguration. What a yawnfest that will be. I'll be breaking out DVD's for that since it wil last hours and not only 15 minutes.

Cashman   January 12th, 2009 5:34 pm ET

Why do we have to listen to this bozo one more time? Can't we just tell him, "Thanks for serving, good luck, and don't let the door hit you in the butt on the way out!"

Good bye and good luck.

Chicago GOP   January 12th, 2009 5:33 pm ET

Can't wait. I will miss him once Obama takes office. We will then be stuck listening to the second best orator of all time (ranked behind Hitler) giving promises he can never fill. Obama's presidency will be plagued by the same problems that Carter faced.

Such shallow, spoiled Americans the liberals, media, and democrats have made, to make such comments. A good and decent man! More than most of you actually deserved. You can't give him any credit for anything at all. No child left behind was co-authored by Ted Kennedy, no one is ratting on how bad Kennedy stunk it up! Just one example!
Mr President, Thank you and may God bless!

I like that CNN can track its detractors. Its not that I dislike Bush himself, but I do dislike his ideology. It is wack, and his fathers was wacked!!!. His brother Jeb was a little to stomach, and is smarter that George, but they are all the same.,and to think his Father wanted him to run for Senator of Florida. Are you crazy!!!!!!!!!

Change is coming. I can feel it in my veins. Think Chicago, think Illinois. None of the Texas Bush stuff. We have a real leader coming in now and everything will instantly be different. Bush has ruined everything. I can't even afford to put the marble walkway around my swimming pool this year. But next year, things will be different.

Good for him. He can set the record straight on a number of issues. It will also allow him to highlight how he won the war and Iraq and kept America in the seven and a half years after 911. Hopefully, the empty suit (i.e., Obama) will be watching and . . . listening.

No one cares.

Bye George

Rory L. Aronsky   January 12th, 2009 5:02 pm ET

Oh hell no! This had BETTER not interrupt William Petersen's final "CSI" episode. Bush has already caused enough trouble in this country. This had better not be his last parting "gift."

Kyle W.   January 12th, 2009 5:01 pm ET

You people want to complain about Bush? Just wait a few more days. Obama is going to run crying to his momma when he really has to take on the job and find out what happens when he really has to do something. You can't spend 4 years campaning for the next 4 years. Its no like being in the Senate.

American   January 12th, 2009 5:00 pm ET

He is your president, act a little more mature, we have all made mistakes, if you believe you never have, nobody has told you yet. Tune and and listen to him instead of ignoring him and insulting the man that kept you safe the past 8 years.

Florida Joe   January 12th, 2009 5:00 pm ET

WHO CARES...........Must want to get a few more dumb remarks on record before he leaves...........This guy has watched while the economy went into the tank, taking care of his buddies.........I have ZERO desire to hear him try to justify 8 years of being asleep at the wheel.............

Jackie in Dallas   January 12th, 2009 5:00 pm ET

Oh, come on, folks. Surely we can give him one last chance to come out with a choice Bushism? If you haven't noticed, there are some serious things going on in the world. You've been complaining that he hasn't been doing anything, and now that he is, you're still complaining. I'm counting the days, too, but he IS still the President. Respect the office, if not the man.

Shari, NY   January 12th, 2009 4:59 pm ET

Gary of El Centro, Ca   January 12th, 2009 4:59 pm ET

One last attempt to convince us the last 8 years weren't really all that bad? Memories are short, but not that short Bucko. Best thing you could do is slip out of town quietly, never to be heard from again.

Uhhh Mr Bush – NO! "Ugly Betty" will be on at that time, and I'm sure it will be a new episode. Maybe you could do it at 2am instead – Americans would still tune in – sure we will.........

ABOUT WHAT??? No disrespect to the "outgoing" prez but I've heard enough and have seen NOTHING over the past eight years. What could he possilbly have to say? Let me guess: "I'd like to apologize to the citizens of this great country for my ignorance and allowing my own ego to guide us into a path of destruction. As Barack Obama inherits my job, please pray that he can put a dint into the mess I've created. God Bless you and God Bless the United States of America".

shucks   January 12th, 2009 4:53 pm ET

The networks need to tell him no. We have heard enough over the past 8 years. I'm sure he is going to tell us how wonderful he is and how great a job he did. Those of you who think he is so great need to realize that we "are" in worst shape now than any other time in history except the great depression. So you just keep right on blindly following the village idiot.

Who gives a sh...t what he has to say

sandee in Portland   January 12th, 2009 4:51 pm ET

I'm one person that won't watch and listen to more of his blatant lies.

Polar Bears Against Palen   January 12th, 2009 4:51 pm ET

I'd rather watch ALF reruns.

Justin from New Haven, CT   January 12th, 2009 4:50 pm ET

He will declare a state of emergency and refuse to leave office.

Jean   January 12th, 2009 4:50 pm ET

At last! His FINAL speech !!! I'm lucky, I won't have to watch him because I will be at work!

Mike   January 12th, 2009 4:50 pm ET

Whether you hate him or love him.. here is a fact. After 9/11 we havent has a attack on our nation. I hope obama can atleast do that for the next 4years.

s   January 12th, 2009 4:49 pm ET

thanks, but no thanks!

a friend   January 12th, 2009 4:48 pm ET

We'll miss ya Mr. President

ConsiderThis, FL   January 12th, 2009 4:47 pm ET

The only thing that Bush should say to the country is "I'm sorry I made such a mess of everyone's life; not withstanding my richer friends, of course."

TomD   January 12th, 2009 4:47 pm ET

Maybe he should just skip the middle-man (pretending to talk to Americans) and give his Quarterly Report to the Board Of Directors at Haliburton. You bet Cheney will seated at the head of that table in 9 days from now.

zzzzz   January 12th, 2009 4:46 pm ET

What's on HBO Thursday night?

Collin   January 12th, 2009 4:46 pm ET

You people need to shut your mouth. Look at what Bush has been through during his presidency compared to his father or Clinton. 9-11, two recessions, etc. The biggest headline during Clinton's term was his inability to stay full clothed in the office.

Kim, Charlotte, NC   January 12th, 2009 4:45 pm ET

No thanks, I will be watching American Idol.....

HomerJay   January 12th, 2009 4:44 pm ET

Is he still around?

Sheesh....turn out the lights behind you on the way out, George. No one cares anymore.

California Gold   January 12th, 2009 4:43 pm ET

After his press conference this morning, he may just feel like he is warming up on re-writing the last 8 years. I haven't heard this much blather since his last press conference.

True Blue   January 12th, 2009 4:43 pm ET

As long as he doesn't interrupt Ugly Betty or Grey's Anatomy, I couldn't care less.

Steve   January 12th, 2009 4:41 pm ET

I will watch only if he plans to apologize for destroying the Constitution, ignoring terrorist warnings before 9/11, wrecking our economy, and getting us involved in a war in Iraq that should never have been fought.

There's a better chance of my dog building a rocket to the moon.

Uncle S.A.M.   January 12th, 2009 4:41 pm ET

I'll be watching Patrick Swayze's new show on A&E, The Beast. That's on cable and I don't have to worry about Dubya tooting his own horn.

Jane   January 12th, 2009 4:41 pm ET

Sky, you took the words right out of my mouth. This better not effect CSI in any way.

Michael   January 12th, 2009 4:40 pm ET

Maybe bush will finally be able to point out all of the GOOD things he has done in his presidency like all of the economic growth his administration sought over, not the recession that was the people's fault, and the fact that since 9/11 there has not been a single successful foreign terrorist attack on US soil.

Obama is no messiah. Why do you treat him like a god? Do you realize that you just elected a man with little political experience and a white house that will be ran by Billary?

Idiots.

MP -New Republican   January 12th, 2009 4:40 pm ET

Please grasp the reality that none of us will ever be President; so none of us will ever know what it's like to be in that position and have make the decisions they do. Maybe you might be able to relate to being the coach of the little league, softball or a volleyball team, or maybe even just watched a coach make the wrong call on the sidelines. It's easy to say from the stands, "what an idiot!, I would have not made that call, and the team would have won". But really, what good did your comment or even the thought of blaming the coach really do to the outcome of the game. As mentioned in earlier comments, we as people are not perfect, and we ALL will make mistakes. The difference in "changing" the outcome derives from coming down from the stands joining the team in whatever facet possible and support the coach with brains or brawn. The winning team is the "United" states of America. Unfortunately, we are slowly becoming just America. ....Come down from the stands, and help out where you can.

fred   January 12th, 2009 4:40 pm ET

True Americans would SUPPORT their CURRENT PRESIDENT. I STILL SUPPORT YOU BUSH!! And I will support Obama as well.

P. Y.   January 12th, 2009 4:39 pm ET

No, no ! Do we have to be subjected to this nonsense? He wants to have a bunch of people come out and tell the world what a good job he has done. Well...we all know better.

MikeH   January 12th, 2009 4:39 pm ET

Arrest that man for War Crimes, Theft, and Treason!!!

STOPWAR   January 12th, 2009 4:38 pm ET

The Butcher of Crawford is going to speak on Thursday, Why.?

MikeH   January 12th, 2009 4:38 pm ET

Last broadcast of his presidency and hopefully not the first as dictator.

Surly Scholar   January 12th, 2009 4:37 pm ET

Maybe he'll finally apologize for being one of the least capable presidents in modern memory (if not THE least capable). Fat chance, though.

Jimi NY   January 12th, 2009 4:37 pm ET

Please don't talk to us anymore. All we want to hear is, "good-bye."

boered1   January 12th, 2009 4:36 pm ET

why? he can send me a letter to say good bye I do not need any more of his lies about how he has done the "right" thing and a wonderful job. shut up and go away quietly have some dignity for a change

idiot

Minnesotan   January 12th, 2009 4:36 pm ET

I wonder if he'll apologize for the illegal war, rampant corruption, Trillion dollar debt, torture, erosion of civil rights, Trickle Down Economics, lies, screw ups, growth of government, Pork Barrel spending, Bridge to Nowhere, destruction of our economy, outsourcing and total failure of nearly every issue on his watch? Probably not, as he's too oblivious to his innumberable failures, as well has his status as the WORST PRESIDENT EVER!

Scott the Independent   January 12th, 2009 4:35 pm ET

MUST HE – I MEAN REALLY WE'VE HEARD ENOUGH bs OVER THE LAST 8 YEARS

ah   January 12th, 2009 4:35 pm ET

he is still our president and has right to say goodbye. Can people be civil in their comments?

Dave, Central Illinois   January 12th, 2009 4:35 pm ET

Ah, yes, the usual hateful remarks from the Libs. So insightful, so revealing.

Scott the Independent   January 12th, 2009 4:34 pm ET

DOES HE HAVE TOO

Scott the Independent   January 12th, 2009 4:34 pm ET

SOES HE HAVE TOO

the idiot   January 12th, 2009 4:33 pm ET

Ed@why do dumocrats still indulge in name calling and degradation of the presidency. It will soon be their man making the stupid decisions. Bush's biggest problem was trying to go bipartisan in the beginnning, not realizing at the time that Teddy Kennedy and the vacuous lefties would respond to trying to bring them in as partners in the only way their shallow minds will let them.

Charles L. Shaw, Liverpool, NY   January 12th, 2009 4:33 pm ET

Does the new HDTV allow my shoes to go through?

MarkP   January 12th, 2009 4:33 pm ET

only this guy would interrupt a new Office episode

Maggie from Virginia   January 12th, 2009 4:32 pm ET

Enough bashing already... Let the man have his last words as President, please!

McCrazy   January 12th, 2009 4:32 pm ET

Does this mean 'The Office' will be pre-empted? F

wes   January 12th, 2009 4:31 pm ET

But The Office is on Thursday night.

But then again, any Bush speech is full of laughs too.

BUSH BEGONE AND NOW 75% OF AMERICA AGREES, FINALLY!   January 12th, 2009 4:30 pm ET

Couldn't he just send an email to the 22% that care about what he has to say?

johnny   January 12th, 2009 4:29 pm ET

Why????!!!! Why spoil good TV?

sky   January 12th, 2009 4:27 pm ET

I hope he doesnt wreck my CSI...I want to see Grisoms last night.....and I could really give a rats pattottie about what Bush has to say.

Gant30   January 12th, 2009 4:26 pm ET

I look forward to watching it.

ran   January 12th, 2009 4:26 pm ET

I am happy I have DVD's. Why can't this guy just go away.

alvino   January 12th, 2009 4:25 pm ET

Right in the middle of CSI. He just keeps messing up.

Ken Pittsburgh   January 12th, 2009 4:25 pm ET

It is time to say Good Night Gracie

BB   January 12th, 2009 4:24 pm ET

I already have plans. Can't make it.

(When is it?)

Ed, Santa Fe, NM   January 12th, 2009 4:23 pm ET
