Mari - as much as I might agree with Obama's plan to use the money, you argument is downright SCARY. Just because Obama was elected, this does not mean that he should get everything he wants. The constitution does not establish a Monarchy!

I am getting very frustrated with the Democrats pushback on OBAMA...while I do agree that their should be accountability..I think they need to make more of an effort to work in a bi-partisan way to help this ailing economy. I am happy to see that he is taking a stand and not being pushed around by their partisan agenda!

I dont think we should release any of the funds until they tell us what they did with the first 350 billion we gave them. How arrogant can you be when asked what you did with the money by saying, we dont want to tell you.

I was never for giving them money, if you make bad investments, you go bankrupt and someone else takes your place. If sub-prime loans were so bad, why are we still offereing them, as well as ARMS. Lets fix the problem now, not wait until it explodes again.

I did not vote for him, but Obama is the president. He needs to look at what the people of the US is saying and try to at least appease them some. Otherwise it will just be another year of sending good money after bad.

The big 3 did not deserve a bailout, we have many other small car companies that would fill the void of the big 3, as well as other foreign car makers. Looking at where they build and get their parts from, they are less american built then Toyota or other foreigns cars.

With that being said, I hope our new president helps bring us out of this mess.

Why is there a problem? His party is behind him and he has both the Congress and Senate, right? Everything he promised should fly right through. If not, they don't have any Republicans to blame. UHOH!! Maybe they realize the citizens are mad about this bail out and plan to "change" the government in 2010. New Congressmen and Senators would be great. The ones that are in now are pretty much useless, based on the record from the past 2 years.

I understand that the congress "DOESN'T WORK FOR PRESIDENT OBAMA" but they darm sure better work with him. Especially the Democrates who have been complaining for the past two years about not having enough votes.

If they can't get somethings done, and I mean right now, we will make sure they are gone in 2010.

We've been holding on long enough. 8 years of destruction was enough. How dare they even hint at making it 9 or 10. Either they are a part of the solution or they are a part of the problem.

I went to the mall Saturday and couldn't find a place to park, so I went get something to eat and had to wait 10 minutes for a table. I used my credit card to pay for everything and was not refused. My bank is still open, it takes only $30.00 to fill my tank now. But I'm being told if we don't do something drastic and soon we are all doomed. I'm also told this is the worst it has been since the great depression- refer to my first sentence. I guess it is true if you say something enough times people begin to believe it. We've got to wire tap for the safety of the country. We've got to have a Patriot Act. We've got to spend spend spend or the economy is doomed. It is amazing how gullible we are. We keep thinking the government will save us. The New Deal. The Great Society and yet we still have poverty and the impoverished still look to the government for salvation. I'm sorry you will not be able to read this due to it being moderated for 3 or 4 hours.

Too bad Mr. Dodd doesn't consider that the first $350 BILLION to vanish into thin air is also a bad political situation. The second half to disappear is an even worse political situation. Especially since I don't see how it is helping at all. They, (idioits in Congress), don't know where the money went. They can't tell us if it had any impact because they don't know what the banks did with OUR money. they wanted a plan and all that from the big 3 for only $34 BILLION, (of which I think that all they have ended up loaning is $14 BILLION). But for $700 BILLION we get no over-sight, no accountability. Paulson tried to get the money and tried to make it a law that there would be no over-seeing or second-guessing him with regards to how he pissed the money away. he didn't get that, but I guess that was the mis-direction required to ensure that no actual over-sight measures would be written into the law. They know who it went to but not what those folks did with it. The banks are REFUSING to say what happened to the money. Really, they REFUSE!!! As far as anybody knows they haven't done anything with it. At least not anything having to do with helping this country and her people. Has anyone not been foreclosed on because of the "bailout"? Does Mr. Obama really represent the people of this nation? Does anybody still represent the PEOPLE of this nation? This is horrifying.

Obama knows what he's doing and it is sad that he isn't being given a chance by folks....well, I guess they are so used to a badly run country the thought of someone who may actually know what he's doing is too much. What a shame these same folks weren't screaming at their man Bush as he ran the country into the ground, well, it's a new dawn and a new President and a new outlook for this country and I for one can't wait to see him as President.

Good going, Democrats. With all the blunders of your party, you should be thanking your lucky stars that you got into office. I love Barack Obama but I believe his win would have been a real squeaker (or may not have even happened) were it not for the economic crisis. So actually, you can thank your lucky stars and the crappy economy.

However, now that he's in office, many of you have decided to act against his first order of business and make a real shady display right out of the gate.
