Sign of the times, first Presidential portrait taken with a digital camera. I think we'll be seeing alot of technological first with this president, he's already mentioned he'll be the first with a laptop in the oval office.

someone   January 14th, 2009 5:32 pm ET

crazielikafox   January 14th, 2009 5:13 pm ET

Yes he is handsome. And he will do what God and the people have chosen him to do, but he needs our willing hearts and helping hands to continue to make change and a difference right in our own communities. Let us not just stare and awe over his chrisma and good looks. There's work to be done!

LIBERAL FOR LIFE   January 14th, 2009 5:11 pm ET

m4rk   January 14th, 2009 4:58 pm ET

Same old dumb looking face we saw during the races.

bernie   January 14th, 2009 4:57 pm ET

People in our country are in trouble, people in the world have it so much harder. Why are we dissing one another? It's a known fact that George W. Bush failed us as a president and not matter how much some would like to not believe it – it's there. Let's give this new leader support so we can all have better jobs, pay, and our standing as a world leader is renewed. And let's all give thanks we live in a country with freedom of speech – otherwise some of you would be in prison.

Luna - Los Angeles   January 14th, 2009 4:55 pm ET

Yes, it is President Barack Obama.
God Bless You.

Edward – you are the truest definition of 'Country First'.
Is there anything more pathetic than you?

Eddie, Please enter 'uneducated coward' into wikipedia, and low and behold, there is a picture of you!

TPotts   January 14th, 2009 4:36 pm ET

Great photo. As for whether or not he'll succeed: GOD led him to it, so he will definitely bring him through it. This battle is not Obama's, it's the Lord's!

The Patriot   January 14th, 2009 4:35 pm ET

We love you Mr. President! See you at inauguration!

Isnt it nice to feel good about our future again?

Jester   January 14th, 2009 4:31 pm ET

Just like JFK, all looks, no substance.

phen   January 14th, 2009 4:26 pm ET

I think for the president this is not the best photograph. He is usually much more relaxed and has a lot more emotion in his eye. This looks very stiff and posed. The photographer could have done a better job in lighting and posing for sure. Try and make the Big Guy feel comfortable. Seriously. Then again I think it would be great if all the president portraits were painted instead, but that's me. In any case it's good to see a change I suppose.

Whew… as long as he has a lapel pin on… We can all breathe now.

mary, colorado   January 14th, 2009 4:00 pm ET

Beautiful well-done portrait that portrays the face of a man who will contribute much to this country he loves/

The minute I heard him speak, I knew this man was destined for greater things, and he is well on his way.

History books will be full of his accomplishments.

Thank God for President Obama

donna   January 14th, 2009 4:00 pm ET

@MRTREE…if no one is bothered by your ignorance, why would they be bothered by his ears?? fair is fair….

@Centrist…no one is dumb or starry-eyed..everyone is FULLY AWARE of what he is about to take on…I'm sure he KNEW full well during the primary season and he still wanted the job…AND GOT IT!!!!

Jorgor Barrie   January 14th, 2009 3:51 pm ET

What a HANDSOME Guy? What an ELEGANT Shot?

I am deeply POSITIVELY Jealous and Admiring of the Humility, Intellect, Intelligence, Character, Charisma, Candour, Competence, Coolness, Colour and Comfort that Exuberate from that Face.

May God continue to Bless and Guide Him in the Challenges He Faces in Bringing Us All Together as a Human Family! AMEN!

Patriot from ATL GA   January 14th, 2009 3:45 pm ET

You gotta love our President, a super intelligent guy. I'm so proud you would have thought I personally gave birth to him. He needs all of our support to help get us out of this mess.

Patricia in Las Vegas   January 14th, 2009 3:44 pm ET

Lori ~~
Because Ed is an idiot. He thinks his sarcasm is clever, but it only shows his intolerance and absolute obliviousness to the fact that we finally will have an honest, intelligent President that truly wants to serve our country.

I will be in DC on the 20th and am excited and proud to be witnessing history in the making.

Oh, and yup, it is a GREAT picture!!

tonya   January 14th, 2009 3:43 pm ET

LOOK AT OUR PRESIDENT!!!!!!!!!!!! DOESN'T HE LOOK MMMMH PRESIDENTIAL?

Jacqueline in FL   January 14th, 2009 3:42 pm ET

Very strong picture. God Bless you President Obama!

Tina   January 14th, 2009 3:40 pm ET

It's a great firtst picture of the finest president this country will ever have. People kindly keep your racial comments to yourself because its scum like you that ruin this beautiful country. If you don't like this country please leave and move to Canada.

tfrmaz   January 14th, 2009 3:38 pm ET

Every time, I see a picture or hear about President Obama. I always get this really warm feeling of hope. I'm not much of a romantic. But, its just the simple fact., that my vote really did count this time. And "WE" the people made this happen. This picture is my new desktop background!!

John G   January 14th, 2009 3:38 pm ET

Angel please tell me you're joking

Carla Martin-Wood   January 14th, 2009 3:37 pm ET

I'm putting it up in my office at work and on my fridge at home. I may make it into jewelry. This man is Moses — he is taking us out of the oppression of Bush and the Redneck Reich and into the Promised Land where we may regain the respect of the world and leave the shackles of fear and prejudice and war behind. He's got a tough climb ahead of him — considering little Bush has left of the economy and of this country in general — but yes, HE can. By golly, we DID!

Thai from Louisiana   January 14th, 2009 3:36 pm ET

Just look at my handsome President! God bless our new first family!

rena   January 14th, 2009 3:34 pm ET

Great picture!

To Centrist- It doesn't matter who takes over the Oval office; the mess that is left behind would be difficult for any person to deal with. I just pray that Mr. Obama will take it one day at a time and give it his best. My prayers are with him, his family, and staff. I know he will give it his best.

Lori   January 14th, 2009 3:33 pm ET

Ed,

Why do you keep poster-sized pictures of Osama Bin Laden and Saddam Hussein? That's kind of creepy…

Moe in VA.   January 14th, 2009 3:32 pm ET

Excellent pic. God Speed Mr. President. We need you to succeed!!

christabel jeffers   January 14th, 2009 3:31 pm ET

mark my words! Obama will go down in history as the most beloved and successful president ever. I just don't care who doesnot share the same view, eat your heart out

Lori   January 14th, 2009 3:29 pm ET

Obama is, by most accounts, considered to be an attractive man. That being said, I don't think that they were trying to make him look attractive in this picture (because they could have done a better job). They were probably trying to make him look presidential (confident, wise, etc.), and it seems to me that they did a fine job.

I'm an Obama supporter and have been since 2007, but I think he's got far more important things to worry about than being pretty for a picture. He's got a huge job ahead of him, and although I do think he'll enjoy success, he will not transform water into wine and create rainbows for us Americans to look at every day. He's going to fight the good fight, and expects the same from us.

Zach K   January 14th, 2009 3:19 pm ET

To make a long comment short.

Good Portrait.
AWESOME PRESIDENT.

Ed   January 14th, 2009 3:16 pm ET

Look at the size of those ears!! Looks like George Bush to me.

Ed   January 14th, 2009 3:14 pm ET

Thanks. I'm gonna print that poster size and put it right next to my posters of Osama Bin Laden and Sadam Hussein.

Penny   January 14th, 2009 1:38 pm ET

As I pull out my tissue – All I can think is – THANK GOD! I am so happy for all of us Americans. All who believe in pray. Say one for the safety of our 44th President.

Luke Brown   January 14th, 2009 1:35 pm ET

Selena   January 14th, 2009 1:35 pm ET

tired of corporate politics   January 14th, 2009 1:34 pm ET

"this picture should be presented on everybody's fridge"

Really – are you TRYING to make this seem like 1984? What if I don't put him on my fridge? Will you tell on me? Will the Thought Police come visiting?

Why don't we all just admit he is a man who we agree or not with and wish him the best.

Stacy from Leesburg VA   January 14th, 2009 1:34 pm ET

Excellent, this will be the picture that hangs beside FDR and Kennedy in my house. God bless our new president and the first family.

Josephine   January 14th, 2009 1:32 pm ET

Hey Republicans, isn't the christrian thing not to judge someone by their color, not to judge someone for anything………the one and only judge is God and God alone, so give Obama a chance before you crucifiy him…….and let God judge him…….if you want to be called a christrian then act like one……..

To all you haters out there, consider this:
The things you hate and vehemently criticize in others are usually traits that you abundantly have yourself – but do not have the courage to see, let alone admit or address.
Everything you say about Obama says a lot more about you than about him.

Dylan from MN   January 14th, 2009 1:24 pm ET

Very dignified! Best of luck to you President Obama! We're behind you!

Derrick   January 14th, 2009 1:03 pm ET

CLINTON VOTER, get over it. They left the White House a long time ago. Why don't you let them come to your racist and "White Supremacist House"?

torn up   January 14th, 2009 1:02 pm ET

It is alright. There wasn't much to work with.

Lisa   January 14th, 2009 1:02 pm ET

"Pin his ears down" (Sweetie); "It is a nice picture, but is anyone else bothered by the ears" (AnaB)? Such ignorant and uneducated comments.

Only in America is looks more important than character, education, honesty, morals, and repect for self and others.

NJObama08+   January 14th, 2009 1:01 pm ET

to clinton voter:

give it up. your name alone proves that the direction you want the country is the same as the direction that PRESIDENT Obama (come Tuesday) plans to take us. You just want to stay angry that Clinton didn't win. Appreciate what this election has done – and not on a racial note. it has made people beleive in their country once again like never before, it's made people – of all ages, races and economic status believe they have a voice in this nation and they believed enough to use it – no matter who they voted for. As a whole, the country is very hopeful for our future and what can lay ahead for us. Just rejoice in all the positives this election has shown us and let go of the anger. Clinton did good. She did her very best. She is a valuable, respectful woman in the nation and in history. Move on and give him a chance.

You must be part of the 25% of Americans that approve of George Bushs' presidency. If I had to look at his picture on my fridge every morning I think I'd have morning sickness.

Trevor in VA   January 14th, 2009 1:00 pm ET

I'm surprised he had the flag pin on his lapel.

Angel   January 14th, 2009 1:00 pm ET

Looks like an angel, better than Ronald Reagan, John Kennedy, Abraham Lincoln or George Washington, actually better than any human beings ever lived. The White House and the world are created just for the Obamas.

What-you-see-is-what-you-get photo rather than the noble looking to the sky scene. How appropriate in light of the crap he has to deal with left over form George W. Bush. I-feel-sorry-for-him photo!

themexcellentone   January 14th, 2009 12:49 pm ET

What a dignified looking portrait.

I am excited about Obama's upcoming inauguration, and I hope he is able to help our nation come through this miserable economy and war to be better and stronger than we were before.

Centrist   January 14th, 2009 12:45 pm ET

Who cares if the new president is attractive?! The Gazans don't care, neither does Ahmadinejad or Kim Jong-Il. By the way, any of you notice how much Obama's grey hairs have multiplied since he received the official presidential briefing? Now he knows how much extremely scary stuff is actually on his plate. I wish him well, but all you starry-eyed dreamers will find out immanently how these mega-problems he's inheriting, across the board, are no cakewalk.

ashleigh   January 14th, 2009 12:44 pm ET
