Sign of the times, first Presidential portrait taken with a digital camera. I think we'll be seeing alot of technological first with this president, he's already mentioned he'll be the first with a laptop in the oval office.

People in our country are in trouble, people in the world have it so much harder. Why are we dissing one another? It's a known fact that George W. Bush failed us as a president and not matter how much some would like to not believe it – it's there. Let's give this new leader support so we can all have better jobs, pay, and our standing as a world leader is renewed. I think for the president this is not the best photograph. He is usually much more relaxed and has a lot more emotion in his eye. This looks very stiff and posed. The photographer could have done a better job in lighting and posing for sure. Try and make the Big Guy feel comfortable. Seriously. Then again I think it would be great if all the president portraits were painted instead, but that's me. In any case it's good to see a change I suppose.

Obama is, by most accounts, considered to be an attractive man. That being said, I don't think that they were trying to make him look attractive in this picture (because they could have done a better job). They were probably trying to make him look presidential (confident, wise, etc.), and it seems to me that they did a fine job. I'm an Obama supporter and have been since 2007, but I think he's got far more important things to worry about than being pretty for a picture. He's got a huge job ahead of him, and although I do think he'll enjoy success, he will not transform water into wine and create rainbows for us Americans to look at every day. He's going to fight the good fight, and expects the same from us.
