House Dems offer $825B stimulus bill

NEW YORK (CNNMoney.com) – After weeks of talks with President-elect Barack Obama's top aides, House Democrats on Thursday released a summary of an $825 billion economic recovery package that calls for $275 billion in tax cuts and $550 billion in spending and aid to states.

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., again expressed confidence that Congress would reach the mid-February deadline for getting a bill to Obama's desk.

But, she noted, "this [package] is just the first step."

I'VE FIGURED OUT THE PROBLEM , ONCE THESES PUBLIC SERVANTS GET ELECTED TO WASHINGTON, THE GET ON AN AIRCRAFT AND IT GOES TO ANOTHER PLANET, CALL WASHINGTON DC. THEY ARE EITHER OUT OF TOUCH OR DON'T REALIZE JUST HOW MUCH THEY ARE IMPACTING THE REST OF US ON PLANET EARTH. 1.2 TRILLION $, AND THERE IS NO EVIDENCE THAT THIS WILL INFACT CURE THE ILLNESS. THE ILLNESS IS THIS THE US GOV'T. , IS ADDICTED TO CHINESE CREDIT, AND SINCE THIS IS NOT THEIR MONEY TO PAYBACK, BORROW MORE AND BIGGER DOSES AND SO ON. TIME TO STOP AND LET THE PAIN SETTLE IN AND RAISE TAXES FOR THE WEALTHY THAT BENEFITED SO GREATLY UNDER THE PAST REPUBLICAN ADMINISTRATION.

    MSM, AnnMM,
Do either of you know how the tax code works?
    Apparently not.
Low income workers pay payroll taxes. Yes they do.
But! They get it ALL back PLUS more when they file their return.
So they are not getting a tax cut, they are getting a handout.
    We call that welfare.
Wrap it in whatever liberal term you wish, it's still welfare.

And all that money they are asking for comes from where? You guessed it... TAXES!

Take the money out of your right pocket and put it in your left.
    Same thing.

You said California received less money back per dollar sent than Texas.

    CORRECT!

    I agree there.

But you don't mention that California has triple the tax dollars sent than Texas based on population.

So, what you have done has removed all the facts so that you win an argument, which is PATHETIC.

Plus, Alaska gets like $17.00 for every dollar sent.

Could it be because it's based on population and size…

Now, if you want to report ALL THE FACTS, instead of mouthing off, then go right ahead.

    *************************************
    Feeling a little feisty today?

Actually, your post makes no sense, since the comparison made was dollars from the state vs dollars to the state, not dollars from the state vs dollars from another state. It is population neutral.

(I didn't do the math, see the website at the bottom for the people who did.)

But I should have included the per capita figures. California ranks 9th highest in per capita taxes paid, at $8,028, and 38th highest in federal funds received back per capita, at $6,709. There was no need for fuzzy math.

Looking at their figures for Texas, on a per capita basis, they pay in $6,437 per capita (25th highest), and get back $6,514 (42nd highest).

You're right about Alaska, they are number 3 in terms of money paid to them vs money they get back.

Feel free to check out the website: http://www.taxfoundation.org/research/show/22685.html

And breath slowly in and out, that might calm you down a little.

Big deal!! The Dow is down approx 550 from last Thursday when the Messish announced his pitiful economic plan. Hardly any gains in the Dow today. These people need a clue!
