Petraeus returning for Obama meeting Wednesday

WASHINGTON (CNN) - CNN has learned Gen. David Petraeus is returning to Washington to attend the meeting President Barack Obama is planning to have Wednesday with the Joint Chiefs and his wartime commanders.

That meeting is expected to involve discussion of troop levels in Iraq and Afghanistan and the new president is expected to tell commanders he wants them to plan to have combat forces out of Iraq in sixteen months– as he promised in the election campaign.

Petreaus will have just arrived from Afghanistan and Pakistan and is expected to brief Obama on the latest developments in that troubled region.

I am sure NOBAMA will have to be introduced to Petraus. NOBAMA is no friend to the Military. Thank God my son is out as of Jan 2 and does not have to serve under this puppet of the left. I can only hope that Honorable Men like Petraus can somehow convince NOBAMA to do respect the military.

I wonder if he will offer some apology of his party calling him BETRAUS????? I doubt it since he does not think much about ethcis – Just lookat some of his picks to help him....

BTW, I doubt this is published since the last much more calmer, but dssenting comments are still being moderated on the closed opinions. I think we call that publish what help the story sell and discard the rest. Wait, that sounds like NOBAMAs current transparency........

This is going to be interesting! There was a serious and heated exchange between Hagle and Petraeus on policy when Obama was in Iraq a few months ago.

In the end, Petraeus was informed that the CiC could determine whether he remained in charge of the Armed Forces in Iraq, or the the latrine.

Obama should Tell betray-us : get the troops OUT by the end of the MONTH....(February) or ASAP !! Why do you think we are in the worst financial shape that we've ever been IN, since the Great Depression !!

These Wars are killing us, financially ! and for what ? so we can do what for those people that absolutely hate us ? Give them "Freedom" ? They don't know what THAT IS !!

They are 50 years behind us, and always will be....

President Obama's first order of business is to announce to the American people is resolve to end the war in Iraq and his timetable
    to bring our troops home.

@Larry C. Hey pinhead, take a look at the Federal Budget before mouthing off. Entitlements make up more than twice as much as the entire defense budget combined. We are in this financial shape because the Democratic Congress forced banks to make mortgage loans to disadvantaged buyers who wouldn't qualify for loans normally. Also Barney Frank and Chris Dodd fought regulation of the mortgage industry that the Bush administration was after 2 years ago..

Forgot the coffee this morning? Can you just lay of the hate? The "betray us" angle is lame and hateful today as it was whe nit first came out months ago! You disagree with th ewar. That's fine and I respect that. The name calling is small and childish! Can you understand that PE Obama and Gen Petraeus would happen to have information that most of us would not have access to? Chillout for a little while!

Why would you call him Betray -us. Please tell me what he has done besides doing his job. With that mentallity does that mean everyone that serves in the arm forces have betrayed the american people for doing what job they are given.

Its people like you that add to the problems that this country is in. Sad thing is that you do not know it and you are probably just as polarized as the people you complain about on the right.

Perhaps America can finally expect an anti-stay-the-course message from Gen. Petraeus. It has been a long time coming and Leno, Letterman, Obriens, etc... are running out of war jokes from a joke of a war.

He is not bringing the troops home! He is changing their location to Afghanistan. Why is it hard to understand this?
