WASHINGTON (CNN) - The U.S. Senate approved the nomination of Hillary Clinton as secretary of state Wednesday by a vote of 94-2.
The two no votes came from Republican Sens. David Vitter of Louisiana and Jim DeMint of South Carolina.

catmom, when Bill left office, we were in Bosnia and Kosovo and had been in Somalia and Haiti. Oh yeah, he let bin Laden go several times. By the time Bush took office, the 9/11 operation was in full throttle. So yes, while Bush led us in a war, Clinton led us INTO a war.

David Vitter is a joke! He get's caught with prostatutes and has a news conference with his wife at his side and states that he is upset with the press coverage. This man that claimes to have family values is a stain on the morels of the people of Louisiana. It is a joke that the Republicans asked Elliot Spitzer to resign but Vitter is fine?

These senators had legitimate concerns. Bill's foundation is receiving millions of dollars from foreign governments that Hillary will be dealing with diplomatically. The potential for conflict of interest exists. Cornyn was happy with the additional reporting concessions agreed to by the Clinton's on Tues. The other 2 guys weren't. None of them ever said anything about not feeling she was qualified for the job.

Well, if the only Repubs in the Senate who will vote against her are Vitter and DeMint, then she is going to do fine. Vitter is a poster boy for conservative hypocrisy, and Demint seems to think the Repubs need to be more conservative. DeMint brings to mind a comment about South Carolina by an Antebellum politician from South Carolina, that the Palmetto State as "...to small for a republic, and too large for an insane asylum." We will be in great hands with Hillary, so get used to it.

He never said he wouldn't vote for her he said he wanted time to make sure there wasn't a conflict of interest that would put our country at risk. This is what you should want out of your senators.
Hooray...............Hillary will be a great secretary of state. Why did the senate delay her confirmation in the first place? President Obama is right it is time to put aside childish things and focus on the big and important issues. Repugs need to take a page from the Obama administration and learn to get along.
