(CNN) - It’s official: John McCain is edging his way back onto the national stage — but his wife Cindy has opted to avoid the spotlight. Literally.
Speaking on CNN's Larry King Live Thursday, Sen. John McCain confirmed reports his wife had weighed the possibility of appearing on the hit TV show 'Dancing with the Stars.'
Those reports said Mrs. McCain was in talks with the show's producers late last year, and was close to being a contestant during the upcoming season.
The former Republican presidential candidate told King Thursday both McCains talked the opportunity over and decided against it. "Well, we discussed it, but we decided it just was not a good idea," McCain said. "You know, Cindy's on her second knee. She's had it replaced."
"It would have been very challenging," McCain continued. "But I'm proud of her work and charity around the world, Operation Smile, a number of other organizations - humanitarian efforts that she's involved in and is continuing to be involved in."
Mrs. McCain isn't the first politically-connected individual to be invited to appear on the show: Former vice presidential candidate Dan Quayle reportedly turned down a similar offer last year.

Just like Caroline Kennedy, people with money love the spotlight only to a point and that point is reached when inquiring minds begin looking behind the scenes at their lives. Caroline didn't want her private money life revealed and I suspect Cindy doesn't either since she is the money behind Big John. Anytime these folks seek the public spotlight they risk losing their privacy and sometimes risk increased scrutunity of their activities. Once they realize they have being scrutinized they retreat quickly seeking shelter from the microscope as anyone with money has something to hide. Not a mystery at all!!!

I don't want to comment on the folks who used this as a political stump, or those who want to bash Michelle Obama. Cindy and John made the right decision to stay out of America's masturbatory infatuation with reality TV and go on with their lives. She is a very good person and Operation Smile is a wonderful program. Her involvement in this would've done nothing but give the prime time "comedians" something to chew on: the McCain duo are better than that. Maybe they'll now go after the likes of Marsha Brady or Cindy Lauper. .....and after their defense, I am a veteran and a democrat............reality TV is for voyeurs and exhibitionists: the McCain's are better than that.

You call Cindy Mc Cain a lady? A lady would not wreck a family by sleeping with a married man. She had no regard for Mrs. Mc Cain, who had almost lost her life in a car accident, and had toundergo countless numbers of surgeries, leaving her disfigured. She is the mother of John Mc Cain's children, who had to care for his children while coping with her failing health.
And then came along little miss Cindy, who had no regard for this woman and her family, I don't know what you call these types of women, but I've always known them to be called a B****! Michelle Obama is a woman of integrity, and I truly believe would never wreck another woman's home. How dare you!!

When all these know it alls have done 1/10th the hands on charity work in the US and around the world that Cindy McCain has done, then they can start running their mouths. When all of these know it alls have given 1/100th the time John McCain has in the service of his country, then they can start running their mouths. In the meantime, your candidate won. Shut up and pretend to be a gracious winner.
