Cindy McCain won’t be 'Dancing with the Stars'

The McCains decided against Mrs. McCain participating in Dancing with the Stars.
The McCains decided against Mrs. McCain participating in Dancing with the Stars.

(CNN) - It’s official: John McCain is edging his way back onto the national stage — but his wife Cindy has opted to avoid the spotlight. Literally.

Speaking on CNN's Larry King Live Thursday, Sen. John McCain confirmed reports his wife had weighed the possibility of appearing on the hit TV show 'Dancing with the Stars.'

Those reports said Mrs. McCain was in talks with the show's producers late last year, and was close to being a contestant during the upcoming season.

The former Republican presidential candidate told King Thursday both McCains talked the opportunity over and decided against it. "Well, we discussed it, but we decided it just was not a good idea," McCain said. "You know, Cindy's on her second knee. She's had it replaced."

"It would have been very challenging," McCain continued. "But I'm proud of her work and charity around the world, Operation Smile, a number of other organizations - humanitarian efforts that she's involved in and is continuing to be involved in."

Mrs. McCain isn't the first politically-connected individual to be invited to appear on the show: Former vice presidential candidate Dan Quayle reportedly turned down a similar offer last year.

Do you really see Cindy in this role?
Call Sarah. She will bring the family and be pleased to dance, sing, interview,, be on QVC, Paula Dean, become Illinois Governor, and entertain D.L. Hughley and BET well maybe not. The last two shows goes against the GOP base.
Does David Duke have a show?

In one regard, Dan Quayle is a former"vice-presidential candidate" as stated in your article; after all he did run on the Bush-Quayle ticket in 1988 and 1992 and the ticket did lose in 1992. But more significant is the fact that Mr/ Quayle did serve 4 years as the 44th Vice-President of the United States. Sarah Palin, Lloyd Bentson, and whoever ran with Gore and Kerry are considered former VP candidates – Quayle was the VP.

No Ty toys in this house.

This is wrong and it is inappropriate. President Obama and his team said early on that family and children were off limits and that stand true today.

As a mother I would be outraged to say the very least.

For the michelle haters out there, most first ladies besides Jackie O looked pretty average. HRC wasn't that great looking, neither was gray haired Barbara Bush who looked like the mother of George Sr instead of his wife. So I ask you guys why are you picking on Michelle does it have to do with her skin color???

Though I'm not a McCain supporter, I'm glad Mrs. McCain had the good sense to veto this one. Her time would be better spent working for the charities she supports. She has done a lot of good working for the poor, as well as adopting an orphan–a most admirable undertaking.

Dan Quayle was not just a vice presidential candidate. He was the vice president. I know he can't spell, but show the guy some respect.
