President Barack Obama and Vice President Joe Biden met with Democratic and Republican congressional leadership to discuss his stimulus proposal, trying to sell both sides on a plan that includes both tax cuts and massive spending efforts.

NEW YORK (CNNMoney.com) – After a call for "bold and swift" action on the economy in his first moments as president on Tuesday, President Barack Obama got right to work, maneuvering to reach a bipartisan agreement on his sweeping economic recovery plan.

On Friday, Obama and Vice President Joe Biden met with Democratic and Republican congressional leadership to discuss his stimulus proposal, trying to sell both sides on a plan that includes both tax cuts and massive spending efforts.

The president offered more detail on his plan to restore economic growth. He said he'd take a three-pronged approach to recovery: stabilize the financial system, fix market regulation and pass the stimulus plan.

    Obama is wrong on Gitmo!

This comment addresses the problem that Mosab Hassan Yousef addressed on national television. The most dangerous world problem we have today is a religious problem by Islamic preachers who misinterpret the Quran for their own greed and profit. It can be stopped by 3 simple steps.

First, warn all the people in a mosque by paper messages, phone calls, etc., to any Mosque whose preacher that is preaching in any manner to kill a human being anywhere – that the Mosque in which they find that religious message is going to be made uninhabitable.

Second, anybody (everybody) should begin sanitizing Mosques, especially those overseas, when their leader’s profess violence from their pulpit against anyone person, any group, or country. Groups who feel they have an independent ability to dismantle the Mosque(s) – without hurting anybody- should begin now. They MUST NOT kill anyone.

Last, the Islamic preachers should re-write the Quran, just as the old and new testaments and new testaments of the Bible have been written so as to reflect the human dignity of anyone who has been born to live as long as possible as well as possible. This tells followers of Islam in a very unique way that there is something wrong with their religion. This solution should begin quickly before the stupid, greedy, and uninformed components of the human psychic destroys humankind.

Give me feedback so I can finish my book on this subject.

This was Diane Feinstein's fault. The chosen ones were on the stage and couldn't care less about us. They (Congress) can't be bothered with us, until it's time to vote. We played by their rules and were subjected to ill informed policemen who couldn't make decisions on their own. It was shameful.

Goldman – you idiot. It's not a sales pitch and it's not maneuvering. Why are you all at CNN trying to stir up the hate and all? It's not just you, it's ALL OF YOU.

It's called giving information – not a sales pitch.

It's called asking for input – not maneuvering.

    IDIOT !!!

After 8 years of Bush's spending (Remember the surplus he inherited? Maybe Gore’s “lock box” isn’t so funny now.) I think the republicans should think about Halliburton's cost+ no bid contracts for Iraqi reconstruction before they call any proposed spending excessive.

Obama is doing a beautiful job already in office. The Republicans cannot talk about Obama's plan being late at all. Bush and the Republicans had eight years to make tax cuts. Did they do any taxe cuts yet? I guess Bush is late too.

Go get em Mr. President. I don't recall any President doing this much this fast. The House and Senate better get used to working at a quicker pace. We have an adult in the white house finally and the legislative branch better follow suit. We the people are paying attention. Work for the better interests of America regardless of party or we will find people who will.

I think Obama can accomplish what needs to be done to SAVE OUR COUNTRY, in spite of the Obstructipubs.

The Obstructipubs are so political that they would let our country go to the dogs just to get their party back in power.

It is up to all of us to not let this happen. Keep speaking up and out.

Most important is that Obama reminded the GOP that he is the boss on this boat. The days of GOP robbing and stealing are over!

After the headlines this morning about the CEO who spent a million on remodeling his office (from mone the company got from the first 350 bil) I think the Republicans should spend some time finding and proscuting the thief that stole that money and finding out what happened to the rest of the 350 bil just to show they feel a little responsibility towards we the people. But then they didn't feel any responsibility the first eight years why would we expect things to change now... Folks, we REALLY NEED TO GET CONTROL OF OUR GOVERNMENT... PERHAPS SOME DEMONSTRATIONS IN THE STREET (PER ICELAND TYPE) WOULD LET THEM KNOW WE ARE SERIOUS ABOUT THE GOVERNMENT NOT STEALING OUR MONEY ANY MORE.... Maybe we should go to the office of that thief who took our money and remodeled and reposses all OUR furniture. I mean after all thats what any other finance company would do..

Let's see which Democrats are going to brandish their stubbornness, and which Republicans are going to be just downright combative and argumentative.

Socialism has NEVER worked in any other country in which it's ever been tried, but let's try it here, no?

Socialim only killed 100 million people.
Let's give it another shot, shall we?

Only three days in offfice and all the media and reporters can seem to do is criticize and try to trip the new administration up. The reporters in the White House are incompetent so far. Asking stupid questions, then re-asking the same questions. Yelling out like children. I hope Obama never goes down there again. Jonathan Martin and Chuck Todd are so far the worst.

Its not "manuevering". You guys did such a beautiful job covering the election. Exactly what you are around to do. And now you seem to just be about stirring up trouble. The news is no longer about reporting the facts, its about stirring up as many problems as you possibly can. Well, we're sick of hearing it.

Obama is doing his job. Good for him. Now let him do it without twisting it into something it isn't.

How can anyone call highway projects bold and swift? At best they are not going to impact our economy for 2 years. Looks like my prediciton was correct, he's using anxiety over the economy to force through bloated gov't projects rather than using these funds to revive frozen credit markets and start capital circulating again. Isn't this sort of like going to a doctor with a broken leg and he decides to remove your appendix?

  22. Empty people voted for an empty suit

He was media selected, we need to get over it, Bush is gone, people with BDS need to get over it.

Didn't vote for this fraud but we need him to succeed and this is a GOOD move to listen to all sides here, GOOD MOVE.

Maybe this working together thing will work, but they all need to be heard from and all possibillities need to be looked at regardless of who's idea it is.

Point Obama, now losing gitmo without a fallback plan is the dumbest thing I have ever heard of.

The majority have spoken and we have a President and both houses of congress who have listened.
The GOP now faces a tough choice, they can choose to either lead, follow or get out of the way!
My bet is they would rather poison the well and see the US fail before doing what is right for the Country – Patriots? I think NOT!

And LouGe – I'm glad you have others people religious beliefs all figured out for them and when you decide to put your idea into action I'm sure \that you too will be greeted as a "liberator". Didn't we do that with the Native Americans?

I know it may be new to a lot of people, but there seems to be a very slow response to giving the President proper respect to address him as President Obama or President Barack Obama. There are so many that still refer to him as Barack Obama, but not President Obama. He is even constantly referred to sometimes as just Obama.
Let's give this man the respect he deserves
