The Democrats currently hold a 255 to 178 advantage in the House, with two seats the Democrats won in November now vacant.

WASHINGTON (CNN) - The 111th Congress is just a few weeks old, but both parties are already planning their fight for the 112th — and a new national poll suggests Democrats may have the upper hand.

Forty-six percent of those questioned in a Diageo/Hotline survey released Wednesday say they would support the generic Democrat in the 2010 elections for the House of Representatives, with 22 percent backing the generic Republican candidate. That's a 24 point lead for Democratic congressional candidates in the so called "generic ballot" question, which asks voters their preference for the U.S. House without naming the candidates running in each district.

These results are in line with a CNN/Opinion Research Corporation poll conducted two weeks ago that found that 56 percent of those questioned think the country would be better off if Congress was controlled by Democrats. That 25 points higher than the 31 percent who said the nation would be better off if Republicans controlled Congress.

"The GOP hasn't met with much success in the last two election cycles, so it's not surprising that the Democrats start off the new Congress with an advantage," said CNN Polling Director Keating Holland. "Historically, however, the president's party loses seats in the House in the midterm election, so the question for the Democrats is whether they can buck that trend and hold onto the edge they currently have."

Forty-nine percent of those questioned in the Diageo/Hotline survey approve of how the Democrats in Congress are performing, with 38 percent disapproving. As for the GOP minority: Disapproval jumps to 62 percent, with 26 percent approving of how congressional Republicans are handling their jobs.

The Democrats currently hold a 255 to 178 advantage in the House, with two seats the Democrats won in November now vacant. The party also holds a 58 to 41 advantage in the Senate, with the Minnesota race still unresolved.

The Diageo/Hotline poll was conducted January 21-24, with 800 people questioned by telephone. The survey's sampling error is plus or minus 3.5 percentage points.

Hey Matt!

Obama is a big spender? You should look up the Reagan, Bush Sr. and Bush Jr. deficit spending. It makes Obama's plan look very small.

How soon we forget. What ever happened to Conservative principles which influenced me from 1976-96. The party sold out to the bigoted social conservative movement. The Republican party of which I once believed and supported, is dead. R.I.P.

P.S. I hope Rush fails!! He should go the way of Imus.

Hannah Stevens   January 28th, 2009 5:26 pm ET

We have a new governor in Arizona replacing Janet Napolitano and she is a Republican, her name, Jan Brewer. Now she is blaming the huge deficit in state funds on Janet when in reality it was caused by the last eight years of bush economics and the first thing she wants to do is cut education funds in our state by 40% and we are behind the rest of country already in educational spending. This is the republican way, tax breaks for corporations, no money for education. Oh and by the way we recently built a huge new football stadium, tax funded of course, but our schools can crumble and it doesn't matter.

I will call it now. Republicans will take back the congress in 2010. What have the democrats done since being in control? Aside from daily gossip, attacks on Bush and terrible policies they have done absolutely nothing. Lately Americans have bought into the crap, but we usually wise up later on. Americans will wise up and get the likes of Pelosi, Reid and Frank out of office.

The republican policy has been hatred. They purport to fight fundamentalists when they are the fundamentalists. They claim they stand for fiscal responsibility and they blow up the deficit. They back small government and under their control, the government blew up with bureaucracy and special interests. Now in the midst of the greatest chaos this country has witnessed in a life time, their party has completely folded with a total lack of leadership and direction. Perhaps one of the things that drove the Repubs down the ditch is the hypocrisy of claiming to be a small government, non-interference party, despite the fact that they want government bans on abortion, government control of civil unions & same-sex marriage, & interference in international conflicts abroad. God willing that this is the beginning of a separation of the party, the right-wing Conservative zealots on one hand, & and Conservative Libertarians on the the other. Perhaps we will see a rise in Libertarianism in the next years, as disheartened Republicans just may flock to this party.

I'm leaning farther and farther right since this last primary and the shanagins that have taken place with my party. I'm hoping some housecleaning takes place and our government becomes more bipartisan so that we can keep a happy medium. I'm really just thankful that I will never live long enough to have to see how in the world Obama's spending spree will be repaid. I'm also very thankful that I never had kids who will have to take on this debt. What are y'all going to do when China comes to "repossess' their collateral?

Publius   January 28th, 2009 4:21 pm ET

Please good people. Let us have reason and civil dialogue instead of this name calling and the expression of personal whim and opinion. The vitriole that occupies so large a space in so many of your diatribes is beneath you both as Americans and as persons. The lack of nuance conveyed in so many of these caricatures; the taking of hyperbole for the sober truth of the matter; these are beneath you as citizens. Are these on-line exchanges anything more than the internet, faceless version of a barroom brawl? It would seem not. I am saddened by the extraordinary amount of demonization–of predications beyond all reason. We can do better than this trite discussion. We can have a meaningful exchange. But to do that, we must not carry on like this. Perchance we could, as Madison once exhorted, harken the mild voice of reason gently pleading its case–perhaps we could find a way to hear that even in the tumult of the moment and even amid the loud clash of these name-calling exchanges.

If they continue, come 2010, it's going to be a whole new round of "we told you so" and they'll just put their fingers in their ears and scream lalalalalalalalalalala like a bunch of babies all over again.

The democrats had their chance, and what did they do? They INTENTIONALLY sank the entire economy of the country which also transcended to other regions of the world....in short, the DEMOCRATS PUT US IN FINANCIAL RUIN...merely to get their puppet candidate in office.....VOTE THEM OUT. It's a shame that we had enough corruption present to elect a dem president....but he'll go when his term is up to. Conservatives, we learned our lesson by staying home and not voting....the ill will of the democratic party coupled with the corruption spawned through Chicago to the White house...will cause havoc, but we must persevere, and start ousting them back to their sewers.

If the Republicans keep lining up with Rush Limbaugh they are going to isolate Middle America, if this stimulus package succeeds they are really going to be in big trouble. Butch Dillon   January 28th, 2009 4:01 pm ET

The polling results are hardly a surprise. The republicans in office are mainly comprised of politicians whose IQ is roughly the equivalent of rotten fruit. People want leadership and they're being stuck with ineffective followers of Rush Limbaugh and the other right wing talking head trash. The phase out of republicans will continue in 2010.

Historically, the party in the White House ALWAYS loses congessional seats in the midterm, regardless of the party.

There are only a small handful of exceptions to this historical trend.

The 2002 mid-terms come to mind, but that election was a mere 14 months after 9-11. The party in the White House would have bucked the trend that election cycle, regardless of whether it was Bush or Gore in the White House on 9-11.

Steve (the real one)   January 28th, 2009 3:57 pm ET

I want the House, Senate and President to get us moving again (smartly)! The 2010 will take care of it's self and hopefully, thisi time we will vote on merit and work rather than party and personality (wishful thinking).

sandee in Portland   January 28th, 2009 3:57 pm ET

@Dawn...well said! If our politicians were focused on what they were hired to do instead of worrying about whether they're going to be re-elected, our country would be in better shape. This goes for both democrats and republicans and is a good reason why there should be term limits for both congressmen and senators just like the rest of the political offices.

I miss the old Republicans that actually stood for low taxes smaller government and personal responsibility. They never had a problem picking up the minority vote.
That all changed as people like rush became the mouth piece of the party it became clear the party cared little for it's minority members and it's base is no friend of ours either

The Republicans should shut up and say something. If they have a better way, then they have a President that's actually willing to listen. Say Something concrete and what you propose. Instead it's negative this and negative that. To have an ignorant loudmouth like Rush Limpballs say he hopes Obama fails sums up the attitude of the Repubs and all their hopes for winning anything in 2010-2012. Maybe drugs will help the bulk of the Rush listeners like they obviously continue to help him?

Watching the House debates over the stimulus, the republicans talk about the future burdern on future children. I am just wondering who they were thinking about when voting on sending billions of dollars and jobs overseas during the Bush administrations.

KW, Vail AZ   January 28th, 2009 3:30 pm ET

The problem that the republicans continue to have is that tax breaks/tax cuts is their solution for every problem. TRICKLE DOWN ECONOMICS doesn't work: it never has and it never will. Even if you cut corporate taxes to 0 % and lower the individual tax rate to 5 %, those companies that can't sell their products and services will not hire or rehire more employees and individuals will not invest in those companies. In a struggling economy such as this, consumption is the key to creating jobs. Profit is the only motivation for businesses to increase employment.

Republicans need to stop trying to derail Obama before he even gets started. The country blames them and their President for the mess Obama is trying to fix.

Two of their Congressional leaders - Boehner and Cantor - told their membership yesterday that they should oppose the President's stimulus package just before Obama came to the Hill to offer them an olive branch.

Memo to GOP from America: Get out of the way ... or we will get you out of the way. What a bunch of losers.

Mike, Syracuse NY   January 28th, 2009 3:19 pm ET

You liberals need to chill out. Limbaugh says what he says to generate controversy which in turn generates ratings. He's not a politician, he's an entertainer. Get it? He's hoping for a reaction and you guys are giving it to him. He's laughing all the way to the bank. As much as you'd like to label him the voice of the Republican Party, he's not. If fact, you pay more attention to him than Republicans do. He's just like Howard Stern. Say the most controversial things and people tune in. Yes some believe what he says; but then again how many believe Al Sharpton?

Craig   January 28th, 2009 3:18 pm ET

Give it time. Without the Republicans there to point fingers at as the majority, the Democrats no longer have a group to blame for personal agendas that lead them to poor judgment.

Give it time...

@ Let Freedom ring.....Libralism? Don't trust people born between Sept. 23rd and Oct. 23rd?

So simplistic, isn't it? Liberals are communists. Maybe if you have a bit of a clue as to what any of those words meant, you may be able to put together a thoughtful argument.
Maybe I should say convervatism=ignorance? Just as fair, isn't it?

Whaaaaaaaaa   January 28th, 2009 3:18 pm ET

The Bush coattails are very long. He will drag every last Repug out of Congress yet.

Obama is right, and they are wrong. They will get their just desserts in 2010, we will get rid of all of them.

Obama is the president, deal with it.

Ed Smith   January 28th, 2009 3:17 pm ET

As long as people are willing to listen to the ignorant ,audacious ,egregious, loud mouthed, pill popping traitors such as Rush Limpballs, this country will remain polarized!!I would like to encourage free thinking patriotic AMERICANS to boycott the products, and services of this drug addicted addle brained nitwit!!

Whiney Do Nothing Crybabies   January 28th, 2009 3:15 pm ET

Republicans are liars and they have always lied. They are the greediest people on the planet. They are obstructionist and should not be listened to–shut them up with your votes in 2012.

Send them back home with their tails between their legs. Do not listen to them. They are not sincere in working with the president.

If they were so serious, why weren't they serious for the last 8 years.

President Obama is right and they are wrong. They are not believable and the president is a good man. Kick these people to the curbs–they are charlotans.

And they will continue to have a lead as long as greedy Republicans lie and cheat the American people. I hope they continue well into 2012 so that they will lose AGAIN, big time.

Thank you so much Rush Limbreath, keep talking for the Republican party, and Sarah, please come out again we love you. Just keep lying and cheating the American people so we will be in power forever.

CONGRESS TERM LIMITS . . . 12 YEARS, NO RETIREMENT!

Jon in CA   January 28th, 2009 3:11 pm ET

Good Grief!

We've had 2 opinion polls about Obama and a 2010 election poll – and Obama hasn't been in office 10 days.

But hey, us conservatives understand the DNC doesn't want to let the media out of their pocket just yet. Why rock the boat when journalists are the ones doing all the paddling for your political party?

We wouldn't want them to begin reporting OBJECTIVELY. Heavens no!

RJN   January 28th, 2009 3:10 pm ET

Don't worry Rep the Dem with mess up they always do!!!!
It's only the second week in office, by Spring they should be headed towards the down slope.

OF COURSE THEIR IN LINE WITH THE CNN POLL. THIS IS THE CNN ONLINE WEBSITE IS IT NOT. I DON'T CARE ABOUT POLLS BECAUSE AFTER THE DEMOCRATS JUST SPEND THE MONEY FOR STUPID STUFF AMERICAN PEOPLE WILL WAKE UP AND SAY NO MORE. THE CONGRESS AND SENATE REP OR DEM BETTER WATCH OUT WE ARE TIRED OF YOUR CRAP IT STATES "WE THE PEOPLE" NOT WE THE CONGRESS THE SENATE. WE ARE DONE WITH THE STUPID SPENDING AND THE STUPID COMMON SENSE THAT YOU PEOPLE HAVE.

Democrat Against Reid   January 28th, 2009 3:10 pm ET

The Dems have the lead right now, but in less than a year this will swing the other way. The top biggest reasons why the GOP will make great strides in the mid term elections are, in order:

1. Nancy Pelosi
2. Harry Reid
3. Afghanistan
4. Pork Barrel spending
5. The Geitner appointment
6. Gitmo
7. Joe Biden's mouth
8. Split between Hillary and Barack
9. Iraq setbacks and extension of troop presence
10. Too many misteps by the inexperienced Commander

Fists of fury   January 28th, 2009 3:09 pm ET

The Marxist/Socialist agenda of the democrats and this president are quite eveident. Republicans need to stand strong and be conservatives again. Resist Socialim. Resist this president's desire to destroy the country. Concervatism is not dead, it's not what Bush was about and it was not what the last 8 years were about. It's time for republicans to stand for the Regan styled principles of conservative individualism and self reliance. Socialism is not the awswer nor is marxism which is what this president and all democrats are peddling.
NO THANKS BARRY!

b franklin   January 28th, 2009 3:06 pm ET

I think free speech is still a part of the Bill of Rights is it not?
These are the same schmucks that ignored the likes of Bill Mahr when he said the Cheyney should be shot.
It seems like they should have a lot more to worry about.

Chris   January 28th, 2009 3:06 pm ET

Dont seem to recall any dems wanting any of Bush's programs. I think its hilarious that one guy on the radio can minupulate the left . When the trillion dollar transfer of funds from the private sector to the most wasteful spending machine the world has ever known, the US govt
fails miserably it will take a true conservative to lead us out of the wilderness Unfortuantely the GOP arent conservative any longer

Marc PDX   January 28th, 2009 3:06 pm ET

Kind of an insignificant poll at this point. The new Obama administration just started. Wait two years and see what the status of the country is then the polls will be much more significant than right now.

DJ   January 28th, 2009 3:04 pm ET

Remember folks this is the same congressional leadership that brought us in this mess to begin with, Polosi and Reed should be replaced by a younger free thinkers and more in line with the present situation. The same old same old does not work anymore. Reed should be reminder of his action and inaction by being replaced in the senate democrate or republican.

Samantha, you seriously just said lowering taxes won't stimulate the economy as much as spending will. If you honestly believe that, then Obama is definately your man mortgaging over $1.2Trillion dollars of your kids/grandchildres's financial futires away. Mr Government is a perfect fit for you

BB   January 28th, 2009 3:01 pm ET

I think the American people have witnessed first hand the obstructionist attitude of the republicans.

If they can't win, they will fight against the dems and destroy the entire country They want their power back to promote PNAC

Jim   January 28th, 2009 2:59 pm ET

I would guess that by the time 2010 gets here, the economy is still in shambles (the democrats will have been in control of congress and the senate for 4 years) and things are the same old politics, then this poll will show somewhat different. Do I agree with all republicans?? No. Do I agree with the democratic platform of today? No. We need people dedicated to this nation. Not the other countries. Just dedicated to putting this country back on the path that made us great. "But seek ye first the Kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things shall be added unto you." Mat 6:33 Putting God first in this country is the only action that will add back what has been lost.

Yet more proof that it didn't matter who ran for President on the Democrap ticket! These same Americans who wanted "change" only want change in the party of the candidate. Don't care WHO is running, as long as they have a D in their party affiliation? Idiots!

jeremy s   January 28th, 2009 2:50 pm ET

Has anyone not realized that this isn't about Rush Limbaugh? This is about how people like Democrats more than Republicans. With that said;

Anyone not realized that the past two years, Congress has controlled congress? The deficit has grown more in the past two years than in any of Pres. Bush's first six years in office?

If people would pay attention to the fact that the GOP has not really filibustered that much, even though Democrats did so a few years back on practically everything in attempts to cripple and hurt their Republican counterparts?

Yet most people are blind to all of these facts, and want to bash on Republicans. Shame. Only change I see now is just how petty people can be when their party hasn't been in control for decades.

worriedmom   January 28th, 2009 2:49 pm ET

For those commenting on Rush, why don't you listen to the whole story before you start putting hate out there. He was referring to not wanting the President to succeed in Socialism! Now I know why we are having so many problems. You Liberals don't listen to the whole story before you comment because you are so filled with hatred that it clouds your common sense. Take a Valium and start educating yourself fully before you put your hateful comments out there.

Reality Check   January 28th, 2009 2:47 pm ET

The First Amendment is a wonderful right...too bad there are so many fascists who wish to silence someone whose politics they disagree with. There is a right to express an opposing opinion in this country and no one who belives in freedom should try to deny this right.

Simmy   January 28th, 2009 2:46 pm ET

I'm as fired up as .....and ready to go and kick some Repub. booty! They've been doing a lot of talking lately. I hope that we can put a muzzle on those voices. Guess who's back – who never left? That's right! And she's copying SOS Clinton's online format. SOS Clinton's gifts just keep on gving. Keep her close President Obama.

Chris from NY   January 28th, 2009 2:46 pm ET

The Republicans will keep paying for their mistakes including the fact that they are just opposing the recovery bill without any concret reasons. I believe that this economy will revive and anyone who voted against this recovery bill will be remebered in history especially during the next election cycle.

worriedmom   January 28th, 2009 2:44 pm ET

Can that tell you what is wrong with our Congress! These people are already worried about 2010 and they need to be worried whether we will have a country, the way it is going now! I would love to see Pelosi, Reid, Dodd and Frank put out to pasture! Let's get some new faces and ideas and honesty into Washington!!!

Angie in Pa   January 28th, 2009 2:43 pm ET

Thats right with the GOP Failing to work with the President and Rush Limbaugh I see 2010 Being all Democrats and the Republican party becoming Extinct

Thomas   January 28th, 2009 2:42 pm ET

I was going to say the Rush Limbaugh reminds me of Zippy the Pinhead, but I rather like Zippy the Pinhead. Rush is just a pinhead.

Samantha   January 28th, 2009 2:42 pm ET

The reason why the republicans are losing is because they're not thinking of any new ideas. They can't just vote unanimously NO on obamas stimulus plan and not give any ideas except to decrease taxes, when studies have showed that decreasing taxes wont help stimulate the economy as much as spending will. They have to become an intellectual party AGAIN, not an anti intellectual one.

Gina in Racine Wi   January 28th, 2009 2:42 pm ET

Yep.

All these Republican's who don't "get it"....need to keep oppossing Obama's stimulus plan and have to keep partisan Politics (And Rush, and Hannity and O'Reilly) as their Parties theme.

That way they can lose even more Seats and then we can see some progress.

Ellie   January 28th, 2009 2:42 pm ET

It's truly amazing to hear the like of McCain, Boehner, Spector, etc exhibit the same Republican idealism that LOST them the White House of the same old and tired "divisive show boating" on Capitol Hill.

What's even more distrubing is that we have Republican politicians appearing on the Rush Limbaugh show, after RUSH made the statement that he wishes the President FAILS, which means he wishes all Americans FAIL!!!

So WHAT does that tell us AMERICA? It tell us, the GOP remains "tone deaf" to the reality of the world. They continue to ignore the millions of voices that stated WE DON'T WANT ANY MORE REPUBLICAN IDEALISM IN THE WHITE HOUSE!!!! Bottom line.

November 4th obviously DID NOT sink into the brains of the GOP. They are still clueless, divisive, destructive and in denial of the role they played in our economic meltdown!!!

It's really unbelievable! The GOP has become a party of "The Blind leading the Blind".... sad, but true.

texan   January 28th, 2009 2:42 pm ET

The Repubs inherited an economy in the "black" and in eight years led us into economic shambles. Their mantras of "get the Gov`t. out of our business" to "just let the free market work" wrecked when left unchecked as the administration did. It was a time when just look the other way, don`t worry, we`ll ALL make money, especially the top 1%. Our economy is in the CRAPPER. Thanks to our magnificent leadership of the last 8 years.

Judy from PA   January 28th, 2009 2:41 pm ET

To be fair, if the Democrats are going to boycott Rush Limbaugh, then the Republicans need to boycott Keith Olberman and Rachel Maddow.

Jim   January 28th, 2009 2:41 pm ET

Terry

You are an idiot. You praise a drug taking, self important, irrelavant person who is so out of touch with the average american. One question – the policies Rush suporrts who do they favor??? People like him who sign contracts for $400 million over 8 years, not the average american.

I agree freedom of speech Rush can say whatever he wants, but a vast majority of americans are tuning him out – the ultimate weapon – choice. Then again this is how the Republicans lost so much in the last election, perphaps people like you and Rush should listen to what the american people want, otherwise the Republicans will loose more in 2010. Change will come again!!! Get ready Terry!!!

LIP   January 28th, 2009 2:39 pm ET

Saying it doesn't make it so...polls are polls and have never been a true barometer for what is really going on. Besides, they probably only polled Democrats.

gerryluimes   January 28th, 2009 2:38 pm ET

Prof.Limbaugh will make sure that neither Dems, nor Reps. are left in the next congress.Only ONE White supremacist by the name of Dr.Rush Limbaugh......................

Gary of El Centro, Ca   January 28th, 2009 2:38 pm ET

I hope those numbers hold, but a lot will depend on how the Democrats in this congress handle themselves.......and what shape our economy is in as we approach the next election cycle. If the economy rebounds, in spite of the Republicans trying to sabatage the Democratic plan, then the Republicans will go down in flames once again. If the economy is still in the tank, they can run around saying "I told you so" and may do a little better.

chris s.   January 28th, 2009 2:36 pm ET

I thought so. Republicans wont rebound until Americans forget about the damage that they cuased for this country.

James Johnson   January 28th, 2009 2:35 pm ET

NY republican   January 28th, 2009 2:34 pm ET

Anyone that would vote for a "generic" candidate from either party is more foolish than the people who posed the question. People that bought a "pig in a poke" used to be thought of as gullible, are they now thought to be good Democrats?

Tom in S.A.   January 28th, 2009 2:34 pm ET

Please don't start 2010 crap already........

geecee   January 28th, 2009 2:34 pm ET

Uh-oh. Rush, O'Reilly, Hannity and the rest of you delusional liars. Get out your talking points. You can't let this happen!! Stop it. Just like you stopped Obama and Pelosi and Reid and everyone else you tried to smear with your hateful, fringe-element rhetoric to scare people into not voting for them. And you see how successful that effort was, didn't you? Quick, launch "Operation Chaos" just one more time, Rush. Hurry, times awastin'.

Anonymous   January 28th, 2009 2:34 pm ET

If the American people had any sense, they would clean out the House, Congress, etc. – We need to start over. People of America, for the people of America – not one party against the other. We need Americans. We need people in these seats that are common, ordinary people with intelligence, COMMON SENSE, and people that love the USA.

Lynn in NM   January 28th, 2009 2:33 pm ET

I see the media has already made their picks and will not publish anything negative about their picks, as they did with Obama. Good job! Keep making that news, instead of reporting it.

Ula Nejad Sacramento, Ca   January 28th, 2009 2:30 pm ET

Republicans are true blue Americans. They would defend their country wether they are on the upper or down side. Democrats suffer from uncessary anxiety always that clouds their judgment.

William   January 28th, 2009 2:29 pm ET

I've said it before and I'll say it again. I will not vote for a Republican again until they purge the party of the ultra-right nutjobs and move back to the center. Right now, a vote for a Republican is a vote against the future of America.

TERRY   January 28th, 2009 2:28 pm ET

Only true idiots listen to him.

Monika   January 28th, 2009 2:22 pm ET

Rush Limbaugh you dissappoint me and many Americans with your continuous comments of plain ignorance. In this tough economy crisis, as well as other issues surrounding this nation we must unite and stand strong as one nation.

SquallCloud   January 28th, 2009 2:22 pm ET

The democrats have the worst instincts. What is actually wrong with them. I can say that President Obama and his team have fairly keen instincts but then something like this happens and I'm reminded "Oh yeah... democrats. *sigh*" First of all he is the "press". It is not proper for a political body to target him. Above all else, this is a quadruple win for Rush and an octuple lose for democrats. You just bring attention to his racist, regressive, insane rhetoric. The proper thing to do when you have a troll on an internet message board is to ignore them. The same goes in life. Don't feed the trolls. *facepalm*

Democrats, do better!

Ric in NY   January 28th, 2009 2:21 pm ET

Two things..

One – its way to early to gauge whats gonna happen in 2010. So, this really isnt news worthy at this time

Two – This is a liberal poll done by liberals for liberals. Its well known CNN leans left and thats OK, but i get the feeling that there will be no super Dem majority after the 2010 elections. I just dont think it will go that way with the economy going farther downhill and a " stimulus " plan that may very well not create any jobs and create more chaos. Handouts dont fix a broken economy.

Scott the Independent   January 28th, 2009 2:20 pm ET

And with the petition against Rush Limbaugh the lead will hold. Its time to remove the old, very old republican guard that have laid waste to our economy in 20 of the last 28 years – Ronald Regan coined the trickle down theory that recked us; George Bush 41 had a one term presidency that ended in recession and George Bush 43 with two terms have brought us to near depression. They have ruined us in less than 3 decades. ENOUGH

Matt   January 28th, 2009 2:20 pm ET

And when they hear this, what will the GOP translation be? "QUICK, EVERYBODY UP THE RHETORIC, GET OUT YOUR FILIBUSTER PANTS AND OBSTRUCT OBSTRUCT OBSTRUCT!!!!"

It's a wonder they've lasted this long, trying the same thing over and over and expecting a different result.

Laverne   January 28th, 2009 2:10 pm ET

Republicans, the writing is on the wall. Get with the program or else you may find yourself without a job and then maybe you will know how the rest of us feel!
