As a resident of illinois i'm disgusted that they are choosing who i can and can't vote for. Yes he's a scum bag, but let the people decide if he so chooses to run for any office. What other rights do they want to take away?

The Illinois house voted 114-1 to impeach Blago and now the Senate 59-0. Was there a conspiracy in the legislature to impeach the guy? With 173 Illinois law makers voting to impeach and only 1 against, I think not. Peace out Blago, don't get your hair in a ruffle!

Hopefully this will be a new beginning for Illinois and the pay and play politics will come to an end. He will probably have a tough time trying to find a job since this became national news. I can't imagine anyone wanting to hire an foul mouthed, self serving person like him or his wife.

Impeachment and removal from office cannot be appealed to the courts. The constitution of the state states the way that a public official should be removed from office. Its sad day for the people of Illionois, but they have to move on. Just wait for more scandals in the upcoming days, months and years. Politicians are always involved in some type of scandal, is just weather or not the scandals are too important enough to be reported to the national media!

The Republican Party represents Corporate America, the Military, and the Christian Right....they are consequently driven by a dogma ideology that fails to represent "we the people". The once effective media attack jocks of Billy O and Rush are now fortunately counterproductive to the best interest of their party ...as they rail against the enemy...consisting of all who disagree with or are oblivious to their Neo Conservative Ideological Political Propaganda. It is unfortunate that they continue to appeal to disproportunate numbers of the elderly...feeding on their fears.

    Hey Rick:
Looks to me like the Democrats are working to weed out those who sell their soul for public office. Since the GOP ranks are thinning out maybe they want Blagojevich – he already exhibits most the qualifications for a Republican politician.

I bet he regrets appointing Roland Burris to fill the vacant US Senate seat instead of appointing himself.

I wish Ohio legislators would have had that backbone to get rid of Taft and Blackwell before they did damage. Good for Illinois.

For pete sakes, I'm a Concervative Republican. I liked Blagojevich. He was not just a politician, he was a caring person, who actually wanted to help the little guy, the little family in Ill. I don't like many democrats.

    How about Palin?

REAL SMART comment there Bob. It took a lot of thought to come up with that.
Governer Palin, never had the charges against her that Blago has leveled at him.
I honestly believe every stinking person in Washington should be investigated. I am willing to bet you will find more corruption, deal making and back room crap going on that most will ever realize. Mr Obama included.

The media is happy, happy, happy.

Of course, this does not prove he did anything wrong. Often times, nothing can overcome the enormous pressure of the media and the people who zone in to sensationalized mainstream media every day constructed of soundbites and oversimplifications.

Politicians are looked at as monsters when we want to see them as monsters and great people when we want to see them as great people. The utter ignorance of the media and the people to cover this story is appalling.

The man may be guilty and ought to be thrown out of office, but his side of the story was ridiculed by the media, not fairly heard or addressed in everything from story leads to previews before commercial breaks.

It is a bit much he will never be able to seek public office again. He has not been proven guilty, he has been thrown out of office on unproven evidence.

He has flat out done great, great things for the state of Illinois and it is a shame it has come to this.

The most subjective story I've seen carried out and covered in a very long time.

Dennis Junior – There's nothing else that he can do, the impeachment procedure was as clean as possible and it's part of the State Senate's powers to impeach him. End of story.
chuck – Serbians are good people, true some of their latest 'national heroes' are people that would make Nazis look good, but most of them are people like you and me, nor saints nor devils, human beings.
Jim – Blago isn' t Obama's 'buddy', they belong to the same party but that's it.

"Is there any appeal process for Rod?"

Nope. And to the person who claims this removal is a clear violation of the Constitution, it is not. The Legislative branch gets to decide what "high crimes and misdemeanors" are. And just because something is not illegal does not mean it's not a crime.

He shook down a Childrens Hospital hugh? Well I think all the Hospitals, Insurances, Doctors and Dentists need to offer cheaper care for people. So, start shaking..... we can't survive any other way.

I'll be surprised if he ever gets a fair trail. Too many dirty politicians involved. Very sad, for this Country, and this family.
