(CNN) – An Obama-Limbaugh stimulus plan?
That's at least what the conservative talk radio host is proposing this week, first on his radio show Monday, and today in an Op-Ed in the Wall Street Journal.
Limbaugh, who has sharply rebuked the president's more than $800 billion stimulus plan and admonished congressional Republicans for not doing more to stop it, says Obama should make a "genuine compromise" with Republicans wary the bill doesn't include enough taxes and calls for too much government spending.
Instead, Limbaugh proposes that 54 percent - about the percentage of the vote Obama won in the presidential election - of the stimulus bill go to the infrastructure spending the Democrats are proposing while the remaining 46 percent go to the tax cuts pushed by Republicans.
“In this new era of responsibility, let's use elements of both the Keynesians and the supply-siders to responsibly determine which theory best stimulates our economy - and if elements of both work, so much the better,” Limbaugh told listeners Monday. “...The American people are made up of Republicans, Democrats, independents, moderates, whatever they want to call themselves, but our economy doesn't know the difference. Our economy should not be focused on whether or not one party gets reelected. This is about jobs now.”
The stimulus measure passed by the House Thursday night includes $275 billion in tax cuts to individuals and businesses, far less than what Republicans had wanted. No Republican representative ultimately voted for the bill.
The Senate version of the stimulus bill - being debated Thursday - is expected to be more bipartisan in nature.

Rush was elected to nothing and I think that all of us have had way too much of his bloviated, hateful and meanspiritedness.
We have one president at a time. So I feel that this big mouth, sore loser should just go away!
Hey Rush, try this.......
54% of your drugs bill goes for healthcare for the unemployed. This should insure about 5,000 people.
46% of your alimony, goes to feed the homeless. This should feed about 10,000 people.
Rush you are bizarre!
Limbuagh would have a better chance of getting the economy back on track than Obama, or any or you dolts for that matter. Obama's basing his ideas on socialist concepts THAT HAVE FAILED!!!! And all of you sitting here bashing Rush either are sitting collecting your government checks or living off your mommy and daddy's money. You wouldn't know how to work for yourself if you had to.
Rush has proven one fact though. As soon as someone says something against Obama, the FIRST thing you do call them a racist. Fact is – YOU are the ONLY ones who have, had, and will bring up Obama's race.
Why in the world is anyone giving credence to ANYTHING Limbaugh says or does?? By saying he hopes Obama will fail, he has demonstrated that his is nothing but a traitor to his country. We should deport him to a country where he can get his drugs at a cheaper price.
Is this NOT the same Bush Limbaugh who recently wished that President Obama "fails"? If the answer to that question is yes, then why are we giving any credence to any utterances from this fools pie-hole? This man has made his reputation on being as devisive and partisan to the benefit of his beliefs, or lack thereof, as possible. I have lost a measure of confidence in our President by him even wasting a breath of his life to say this guys name in a public address or in strategy sessions with his cabinet. Vice-President Biden makes a joke about the Supreme Court Justice who misplaced words in the Presidentail Oath, and the media goes into a frenzy, and CNN did a great job of covering the Vice-Presidents comments and President Obama's facial expression as a result....So that spawns a thought for me, who will hold Limburger to the very same media scrutiny for being so "unpatriotic" (as the Bush administration would have termed it, had those words come from, lets say, Jerimiah Wright) and hoping the President "fails" in his efforts to stabilize the failing economy in this country? Why didnt Limburger hope that Bush and Cheney "failed" to make millions of dollars for Haliburton or the Shaw groups? Hmmmmmmmm...
Limbaugh onto center stage?
That's a GOOD thing... he's a vile, hateful character that needs to be exposed.
Like sunlight to a cockroach.
The most amazing thing is that most of the people (if not all, so far) who have commented on this article haven't even read it. If they had, they'd understand that Limbaugh called for a real compromise. He even said if Keynesian and supply-side ideas work together, so much the better.
It's a shame so many of you are so dishonest.
Wow... this is the first time in a long time that I've seen a Republican say that a bill doesn't have ENOUGH taxes.... oh that's right: it's because these tax cuts are for the average citizen, not necessarily the ridiculously wealthy. sigh.
I am no fan of Limbaugh, I usually end up throwing stuff at the radio when he is on but this proposition does have some merit. Tax cuts wouldn't hurt anyways especially on the corporate end. Tax cuts for companies that have not outsourced jobs and which manufacture here in the US would be a good incentive. Maybe they could use some of the savings to hire more workers. But then again I am no economist or politician. I just work for a living and have to be content with whatever is dealt to me.
You liberal tools harping about Rush being a "clown" and "just an entertainer "crack me up. You're the ones that are idealistically hoping that Al Franken (clown and wanna-be entertainer) wins the senate recount.
Can any of you step up and coherently explain why you feel that Rush's proposal would not work. Your constant name-calling, with no substantive discussions of the issue(s) at hand, lead me to believe that this so called political ticker is overrun by juveniles.
You liberals make me laugh. If Rush is so irrelevant why do all you libs attack him? Because Rush is right. Deal with it!
Same comment from yesterday.....Mr. Limbaugh has the opportunity to speak to millions...yet you always find himself in the equation.
We all have opinions....you know how the rest goes!
Go Rush,
Most of the libs hate you and have never listened to you, they hear the CUT parts of your talks on the MSM and believe it whole heartedly, of course they believed the same MSM about Obama so that doesn't surprise me. Rush, sometimes you just make to much sense and the libs don't have much, but they sure know how to hate.
Since they hate you but don't know you can I hate them since I don't them??????
Rush has a legitimate point.
Those of us with any semblance of conservative values hate to see this much money spent on pork, and not to stimulate the economy.
What's with all of the vitriol towards Mr. Limbaugh?
I thought we are now in the era of "change" and this kind of name calling is behind us.
So much for the kinder and gentler liberals.
1. Rush has no legal or political position to coordinate anything.
2. ON November 8, we repudiated the right wing agenda and all its policies. ANd that was before the major economic meltdown.
Rush has the political legitimacy of Alfred E. Neuman
If Bush and cronies hadn't stolen the 2000 election, Rush would have been out on his butt at Clear Channel after Gore had taken the country in the proper direction.
Overlooking that fact that he is Limbaugh, his idea actually is not a bad idea. If you look past the fact that it is Limbaugh who is proposing it, it might actually work. If someone like Obama proposed this or Pelosi, it would actually probably be praised in the media. I know many Republicans would probably go for a compromise like this.
Also, you can criticize Limbaugh for speaking his mind about the economy even though he is only an entertainer, but do you really trust congress to be any better. Afterall, most of the congressmen are lawyers and have no back ground on how the economy actually works or how to run a business. In many ways, Limbaugh is as creditable as many of these so called politicians in Washington. I can't personally stand Limbaugh, but I'm not going to discount his point.
It's funny how people make character shots at Limbaugh rather than agree or disagree with his points. I'm not saying that Limbaugh is right or wrong. I don't know enough about economics to know what's best nor do I listen to Rush. But people should get over their opinions about a person and either criticize or support his points, not his character. That goes nowhere and shows people's immaturity and lack of objectivity.
Who is Obama to propose a stimulus bill? He's knows next to nothing about how to jump start an economy.
The U.S. has elected a rank amateur and it shows every day.
Holy crap, Obama was elected to tell idiots like Rush that we tried it his way, it didn't work, now shut up and sit down.
These morons haven't yet figured out that they're out of power.
Who elected the fat slob junkie?
To hell with him.
You liberals make me laugh. If Rush is so irrelevant why do all you libs attack him? Because Rush is right. Deal with it!
Hey CNN! I have an idea! If we want to hear what Limbaugh thinks, we'll listen to his show!
Here's an idea:
How about the pill-popping closet case Limbaugh give up most of his $30-50 million annual salary and help out those on need?
The last time I checked, our elected officials made these decisions, not prescription drug addicts. Am I missing something?
joe: "Who is Limbaugh to propose a stimulus bill? Do people realize he's nothing more than an average citizen who happens to do a talk show for his job?"
And who is Barack Obama, John McCain or any other politician to propose any kind of binding legislation on anyone, anywhere at anytime? They're common citizens as well, aren't they?
The belief that all the Obamas in the world are somehow more than 'mere men' is what leads to the rise of dictatorships and totalitarian states.
