(CNN) – An Obama-Limbaugh stimulus plan?
That's at least what the conservative talk radio host is proposing this week, first on his radio show Monday, and today in an Op-Ed in the Wall Street Journal.
Limbaugh, who has sharply rebuked the president's more than $800 billion stimulus plan and admonished congressional Republicans for not doing more to stop it, says Obama should make a "genuine compromise" with Republicans wary the bill doesn't include enough taxes and calls for too much government spending.
Instead, Limbaugh proposes that 54 percent - about the percentage of the vote Obama won in the presidential election - of the stimulus bill go to the infrastructure spending the Democrats are proposing while the remaining 46 percent go to the tax cuts pushed by Republicans.
“In this new era of responsibility, let's use elements of both the Keynesians and the supply-siders to responsibly determine which theory best stimulates our economy - and if elements of both work, so much the better,” Limbaugh told listeners Monday. “...The American people are made up of Republicans, Democrats, independents, moderates, whatever they want to call themselves, but our economy doesn't know the difference. Our economy should not be focused on whether or not one party gets reelected. This is about jobs now.”
The stimulus measure passed by the House Thursday night includes $275 billion in tax cuts to individuals and businesses, far less than what Republicans had wanted. No Republican representative ultimately voted for the bill.
The Senate version of the stimulus bill - being debated Thursday - is expected to be more bipartisan in nature.

I don't see any compromise. Stop the spending now and stop the bailouts. Pay off the debts of the country by abolishing government entities not needed.
I'm sorry, when did Limbaugh win an election to make policy proposals? If Rush wants to create policy proposals, he should run for office. If he is voted in, then he is free to propose. Until then, he should shut up.

Isn't that the whole idea of voting...the candidate with the most votes gets to enact the policies he or she was campaigning for?

The house republicans better work and listen to us instead of Rush Limbaugh, their GOD. Obama's bill is not perfect but at least he welcomes positive contribution toward making it better.
It is not enough to throw tantrums and vote no on party line, but instead offer concrete and reasonable alternative apart from tax cuts for the rich.
We put Obama in charge to fix the economy not them, I can't wait for the next election cycle to kick all their butts out.

Who is Obama to propose a stimulus plan? This guy has never created 1 single job outside of a government job. All he wants to do is give the government more power and make it larger...

PLEASE stop giving Limbaugh air time. He doesn't deserve this plaftorm. Isn't his 42 million salary from ClearChannel and his extremist supporters disturbing enough? He doesn't need CNN to continue to perpetuate his preposterous views.
Why does the government always say they have to "pay" for tax cuts? That'd be like me telling my boss he can't cut my salary because I can't pay for it. Take a minute to digest that and you'll see where I'm coming from.
Social giveaway programs don't stimulate the economy. Nor, does spending projected in the out years give any relief now. This bill is a masquerade.
If they want corporations to hire people, cut the corporate tax rate.
Then, give a tax holiday to companies bringing money back into the country from off-shore accounts. Why do you think off-shore accounts exist? Because the government penalizes profit and success. If a company has an employee in a service center in India, they don't have to pay all of the stuff government and unions force them to pay.
Thank your lawmakers for this situation.
Once you have finished spewing your anti-Limbaugh bile, stop and read what he is proposing. History has shown that our current direction in ending the economic problems has not been successful (see the Jimmy Carter years) and we all know that Bush, Inc.'s practices are what got us here.
He is basically asking the President to take the parts of both sides plan's that have been proven to work and combine them... how dare he.

Folks, Limbaugh is a college drop-out, trained as a radio dj. He was hired FOR ENTERTAINMENT PURPOSES. He has limited knowledge about everything, but pretends he's the authority on everything. (The few times he admits he's not the authority, he confides in some supposed, dubious authority – and then, of course, proclaims himself just as knowledgeable based on his discussions with this "authority".)
When are people going to stop acting like this guy is relevant? It doesn't help that the increasingly conservative CNN posts stories about him.
Actually Joe, the MEDIA are the ones that created this mess in the first place...Obama does not have to avoid mentioning anyone by name...if folks wouldn't hang on to LIMPBALLS words in the first place, Obama wouldn't need to mention him...the Republicans look to Rush for inspiration and guidance apparently and follow his lead...he should be the RNC head..after he said that he wished Obama would fail, he has had more media coverage than the Republicans anyway...
