Former Sen. Tom Daschle answers questions during a confirmation hearing January 8.

WASHINGTON (CNN) – The Senate Finance committee will meet Monday to review the tax records of former Sen. Tom Daschle, President Obama's nominee for secretary of health and human services.

According to a committee memo obtained Friday by CNN, the group's concerns include the use of a limousine and driver that Daschle didn't disclose on his income taxes and nonpayment of taxes on more than $80,000 he earned in consulting fees after leaving the senate.

Daschle also apparently once filed a tax form listing charitable donations to organizations that did not qualify for a deduction, according to the memo.

A Democratic source told CNN that Daschle has since paid what he owed. None of the tax issues appeared to have occurred while he was serving in the senate.

I wish I was a Senator, then I would never have to follow the rules.

Daschle was a bad choice from the begining, and he is only looking worse now.

Now I don't get this. If my friend gives me the use of his limo and driver for a couple of months, I am supposed to pay taxes for the driver and limo for that period of time. WHY?

I would do the same for him if he needed it. That's what friends do for eachother except that me and my best friend don't have limos and drivers. I bet 99 & 44/100% of all tax payers didn't know that either.

Shame on you, Tom Daschle. What this tells me as a taxpayer is that the IRS should investigate both republicans and democrats in House and Senate for tax irregularities. If ordinary taxpayers are forced to pax their taxes owed, so should ALL congressmen and women. Also, IRS should check for illegal immigrants that work as housekeepers, nannies, etc.

This is not a matter of "Got you" politics, its a matter of right and wrong and hits at what's wrong with this country, between the have and have nots.

I now see why Democrats are so concerned about making sure the "rich" get taxed. Charlie Rangel, Daschle, and Geithner, all good Democrats in responsible positions fail to pay taxes. The politics of hypocrisy as played by the Democrats so well.

    Just ANOTHER TAX EVADER

OBAMA has a penchant for making exceptions for his own rules and this one will be no different. DEMMINGS and some RINOs will follow.
RINO = republicans in name only, like Olympia Snowe and Susan Collins–

I guess the only way to make a democrat pay taxes is to nominate them to a cabinet post.

Why waste time? Go ahead and confirm the creep and then the "Great Himself " (obama) will have in place two (2) of his hand picked lying tax cheats. He is doing exactly as he promiced throught his campaign...."hope" (you don't notice)..."change" (enlist experts who will steal for me). If they get caught again the "Great Himself" can clain he didn't know them as is normal for himto do.

The republicans didn't vote down Geithner, and I guess they don't think Daschle did anything so bad either.

I am a strong Obama supporter and I am disappointed with Geithner and Daschle. I would be happy if neither were confirmed.

We need to simplify the tax code folks. It shouldn't be that hard.
Straight progressive tax with no deductions. How about that. You can do your taxes in 10 minutes on one sheet of paper. Capital gains, taxed at same rate as income with option for counting the gains as income spread forward over 10 years. Inheritance, taxed at same rate as income with option for paying taxes over a 10 year period unless sold. It isn't that hard folks.

Perhaps our politicians should stop the witch hunts and finger-pointing at each other and work together to solve the greater needs of the people of this country rather than perpetuate their petty grudges and bipartisan bickering.

If all of it is true, he should be indited for tax evasio and have his day in court. He should not be confirmed. It seems that too many of Obama's cabinet are simply too rich to b honest!

So he's tax evader...he should sail thru the confirmation....because I'm sure he is the ooooonly one in the wwwwwwworld who is qualified for the job.

We now have another tax evader, one who had an illegal worker, the largest conflict of interest nominee ever, attorney general with shady dealings in defending terrorist & a pardoner of crooks and lobbyists all over the place even after the Executive Order.
What does it take to be a disqualified nominee?

A rose by any other name...

this move is to simply cast bad light on President Obama.!!!
If every person who smoked pot or had pot in their possesion were
picked up and thrown in jail there would be NO more prison space period hehe!!!! Oh and by the way I am an older lady who has never smoked it in her life but quite aware that one of my children did at one time and also aware that many still do smoke and possess it in every country around the globe!!

As an American voter, I'm embarrssed and ticked off at these clowns being appointed. What does this say about all of the others not put under the microscope of confirmation? Is everyone corrupt in some way, but only revealed when under the scrutiny of appointment?
Does anyone who we vote in to office have a shread of dignity and character,... anyone?
Republican or Democtat, I'm done! As of this moment I'm a libertarian!
Let's restore this country to the people, with honest repersentatives and honest money.

While my confidence in President Obama is not shaken, I do find myself wondering why these people with money and influence can't seem to get their tax business straighten out. These people should be able to afford the best accountant. I guess when you have alot it is hard to keep up with all you've got. Try living from month to month and knowing that if we don't pay our taxes, we will be in big trouble. These people should know better. Should this disqualify Mr. Daschle, I guess it is up to the Senate. But you know my confidence in the Congress and Senate are very low, because with the serious times we are facing they can't see to put the same old Washington politics aside and try to do what is best for this country.

WHAT to SAY? I don't know....

If he is the best man for the job.. then we need to really look at his history, which it appears is being done. No one's past is completely blame free... we have all at one time or another done something that we would not truly want to be brought to the light of day. If it is a minor thing like that which has been corrected... then let the man go to work... If it should turn out to be like Blago.... then if it hurts then let it hurt, and move on to someone who is just as qualified.
