Palin lying low during Washington trip

Alaska Governor Sarah Palin speaks at the meeting of the National Governor's Association in December.
Alaska Governor Sarah Palin speaks at the meeting of the National Governor's Association in December.

WASHINGTON (CNN) – Sarah Palin has firmly remained in the media spotlight since her bid for the vice presidency ended four months ago, but the Alaska governor embraced a decidedly lower profile when she traveled to the nation's capital this weekend.

The former Republican vice presidential candidate has scheduled a busy itinerary of closed-door events and face time with congressional Democrats and Republicans.

She also announced earlier this week she's making the 4,500-mile trek from Alaska to Washington primarily to attend the Alfalfa Club Dinner Saturday night - an annual closed-door roast of the nation's political elite.

But it's what's missing from Palin's schedule that is causing more than a few heads to turn. In a city that is ground-zero for national political journalists, Palin has not scheduled a single media interview or indicated she will hold a press conference.

I think Sarah Palin is one of the smartest ladies I know. She is smart to avoid the media in most part as they are such a negative group. Good for you, Sarah. I think she would make one of the greatest Presidents we could have and I hope one day she will be President. It is sad to see so many that are envious of her and down right jealous of her intelligence. She is a great example for the all America family and a great organizer in handing business and family and is superb at both. God bless you, Sarah, and continue to guide you in all you do and say. I know you are a very secured lady and can face anything that you become face to face with. Brotherly love. "Dr. Wayne" T. Moses

Why are we discussing Sara Palin? Why not discuss Barack Obamas half Kenyan brother George Obama getting busted for possession of marijuana yesterday? With all the crooks Obama has appointed to his failing administration George should be anointed the new Drug Czar don't ya think??

John McCain made a recent visit to Palin prior to this dinner and maybe he told Palin to keep her mouth shut in the mist of all the Phd's and lawyers to avoid sounding like an illiterate idiot.

Pedro, just so you know, Republicans HATE the Clinton's. Palin has yet to receive the type of treatment that both Clinton's have received and continue to receive from Republicans. Politics is nasty. Palin showed that she can be nasty and divisive and that is the reason she is being criticized. She came into the campaign spouting the most divisive hate speak. She riled her supporters to be very hateful and racist. This is what SHE did. This is why people are so nasty towards her. Don't start no SH, won't be no IT.

@ American VOICE – what's the matter? You only want to read about Obama? Palin strikes fear in the heart of the dumb dems...because she'll speak the truth...and they really hate that.

CNN can't help but do their best to smear Palin...even the title of this post is most obvious – is she lying? Or is she laying? Either way, CNN is shameless

W.T. Moses in Florida wrote that we are "jealous of Palin's intelligence". I am at a loss for words to understand that ANYONE can actually think that. Palin is one of the worst-educated and most illiterate people ever to have come under public scrutiny. It took her several years at several colleges to get an elementary Bachelor's degree – and THAT was in journalism, for God's sake – scarcely a demanding academic subject! And for someone with a "degree" in journalism NOT to be able to construct a coherent and grammatically correct sentence in the English language says all there is to say about her intelligence. Is illiteracy common to the extremities of the US – Florida in the South and Alaska in the North?

"Any mention of this woman in this space brings out those loving dumbocrats in droves. They must really be scared of her. She does have integrity and pays her taxes and is not from Chicago. They must be scared the electorate will find out the truth."

Well, if you think Democrats are dumb then trust me, you better watch out what you say because my boy is gonna get another term and by the way, don't you think the Dems are gonna be slick? Well, if you don't, then you know nothing about politics...

By the way, she messed up already during the election with the process and how the GOP handled her, let alone some people wanna give her a chance and I think is fair but when you are a rookie in this game, you gotta make sure you know what you're doing...

She works 90 days a year as gubner of Alska. She worked 2 days a week as Mayor of Wasilla. Her state has as many people in it as a large lower 48 city. What has she to offer? Sedition? I think trying to have Alaska withdraw from the United States disqualifies her and
her family from being anywhere on the national radar except to get arrested.

catmom, no one had more nasty things to say about the Clintons, that Obama supporters. Insulting and degrading people is what you all seem to do best. Read the posts here for proof. I guess you didn't listen to Obama's speech, or you don't support him the way you say you do, why all the hate, he asked the country to stop the pettyness, but again, read the posts here.

Romney 2012 you are delusional. Palin is as dumb as a doorknob and if she is the best hope for the Republican Party you guys are really in big trouble. No one with a wit of a brain is afraid of Palin, her "sentences to nowhere" notwithstanding. Get a clue.

She pals around with dug addicts, like her futre son-in laws mother and this is alright? Get real CNN! Why do you bore us with such details about this Palin woman? The majority and sane indiviuals as well as smart people just want her to disappear.

Maybe she is in DC on a hunt for some pork. Since Sen Stevens got thrown out , the bridge to porkville has gone to nowhere. Now she has to go shopping for a sale on earmarks.

Stay home and maybe you can see the volcano that will erupt any day from your house. Better yet, write a cookbook of your favorite moose burger and moose chili. Your family awaits.

Any other gaffes that Gov. Palin makes notwithstanding, the FACT that here favorite statement about then-candidate Obama was, "He's not like us." If that wasn't pandering to the racists in the Republican party, then I don't know what is. That kind of bigoted comment should not allow her to be elected to any national office, whether she is otherwise qualified or not.
