Palin lying low during Washington trip

Alaska Governor Sarah Palin speaks at the meeting of the National Governor's Association in December.
Alaska Governor Sarah Palin speaks at the meeting of the National Governor's Association in December.

WASHINGTON (CNN) – Sarah Palin has firmly remained in the media spotlight since her bid for the vice presidency ended four months ago, but the Alaska governor embraced a decidedly lower profile when she traveled to the nation's capital this weekend.

The former Republican vice presidential candidate has scheduled a busy itinerary of closed-door events and face time with congressional Democrats and Republicans.

She also announced earlier this week she's making the 4,500-mile trek from Alaska to Washington primarily to attend the Alfalfa Club Dinner Saturday night - an annual closed-door roast of the nation's political elite.

But it's what's missing from Palin's schedule that is causing more than a few heads to turn. In a city that is ground-zero for national political journalists, Palin has not scheduled a single media interview or indicated she will hold a press conference.

She's getting smarter. Nixon had to leave the much beloved limelight for 8 years before he could re-invent himself. Thats her best shot.

Now that she's not news, you all tell us she's not news?

E-Tabloid, gossip, etc., come to mind with a lot of these articles and some of the sophomoric drama queen/king behavior on CNN.

Sarah Palin avoiding the media spotlight??? Guess there's a first time for everything.

If only she'd had the sense to avoid it all in the first place by turning down McCain's request to be his nominee for Vice President.

You are doing a great job Obama. Just make sure that all your appointees correctly pay their taxes. Seems that would be one of their priorties, since it is tax payer monies that they want to use to accomplish their goals.

Well, she probaly does not want to show up Obama. Because you know she would receive more press coverage than he would.

Lord knows the Messiah does not want to play second fidddle to Governer Palin in the media.

She has requeste or scheduled a media event because there, too also, the Bush doctrine in what respect Charlie, i'll get them to ya, there to also, you betcha, the real America you can see Russia from land in Alaska there too also, *wink* i don't know any other Supreme Court ruling besides Roe v Wade, there too also, I said thanks but no thanks. . .

    ugg...this is exhausting...

She's a ditz who has nothing to say to the majority of Americans. That's why there are no scheduled media interviews et. al. She and th Repubican party (soon to be a regional party thank heavens) have nothing constructive to offer the majority of us. She's just another obstructionist.

You are doing a great job Obama. But it is really a good idea for your appointees to pay there taxes. After all it is Tax Payer money they always plan to use. So you see, if your appointees pay there taxes then they have the moneys they want to use. Basic math that would be good if your appointees understood.

She does not miss the media so why is the media so concerned that she has not given an interview? I ike the fact that she can turn the switch on and off when she sees fit. Doing a great job.

Yea, perhaps you should offer Palin the job you offered Dashcle. However, Palin may be too smart, too real, and too successful for D.C. Something it appears they cannot handle. Sort of odd isn't? Rather appoint someone who doesn' t pay their taxes.

Obama is going to change the tone in Washington. How? By appointing leaders that don't pay their taxes?

Give the Democrats credit. For supporting a non tax paying Democrat. Pretty cool isn't it. Running the Health Care industry that relies on tax payer money, and not paying their taxes. Chalk up another victory for the clear cut all american democrats.
