Palin lying low during Washington trip

Alaska Governor Sarah Palin speaks at the meeting of the National Governor's Association in December.

Alaska Governor Sarah Palin speaks at the meeting of the National Governor's Association in December.

WASHINGTON (CNN) - Sarah Palin has firmly remained in the media spotlight since her bid for the vice presidency ended four months ago, but the Alaska governor embraced a decidedly lower profile when she traveled to the nation's capital this weekend.

The former Republican vice presidential candidate has scheduled a busy itinerary of closed-door events and face time with congressional Democrats and Republicans.

She also announced earlier this week she's making the 4,500-mile trek from Alaska to Washington primarily to attend the Alfalfa Club Dinner Saturday night - an annual closed-door roast of the nation's political elite.

But it's what's missing from Palin's schedule that is causing more than a few heads to turn. In a city that is ground-zero for national political journalists, Palin has not scheduled a single media interview or indicated she will hold a press conference.

I fear for the welfare of my grandchildren and I pray to the good Lord that the truth the real truth about SP be known before it is too late. I have always said the the WH is not a place for ego and hers is bigger than Alaska itself. You idolize Palin but you have not researched her. She could not even wait until Obama's i nauguration and right after his election before she made sure her insecure self kept appearing in the media. That is narcisstic" look it up and that is what you repubs what in charge.

Too bad she hasn't escaped the spotlight back up in her home state...and mine, of Alaska (as she lets everyone know when she speaks). I appreciate the work she has done for our state, but some feel she hasn't come back to being herself after getting so much national coverage. Headlines are reading "Legislators eye Palin's focus" (Ketchikan Daily News).

what's obama's insecurity? that this meeting had to be closed door w/o reporters. is he going to ask her to give up alaska oil dividend to take care of this 825billion he cant sell, or is he gonna try to sweet talk her to not run. if she doesn't, the other brother, steele, will shut him down. at least steele has a better background, and people w/ better moral values hopefully takes over.

She will not talk to the press as long as there are real issues to discuss. If she holds a press conference now, she may be asked what she thinks of Obama's recovery rescue plan or her reaction to Obama's comments to the Muslim world (gasp!). I don't know how Republicans don't take it as a punch inthe face every time the media suggests she may be the leader of the party in the near future. Shame on the media for keping her current!

Why is it that so called educated, sophisticated adult citizens of this great nation feel it so necessary to slander, insult and make fun of Sarah Palin in such a degrading manner. You should be ashamed of yourselves. It's time you started looking inward instead of outward.

It's sad to me that liberals are so full of hate. The comments are on here are just seething with so much contempt for Palin, when all she has done is get where she is from honest hard work.

And to posters like Not Newsworthy who like to bring up Palin's refusal to do interviews, why was it that Obama's camp refused to do any more interviews with WFTV in Orlando? Oh yeah, it was because they asked tough questions, and of course, Biden flipped out and came off sounding like a buffoon!

    @ Cobra.......

tax dodgers you say? Does the name "Joe the Plumber" mean anything to you? All that got him was a job overseas doing journalism work, something some poor kid going to college won't get. Yet you guys made him your poster boy. Rush makes millions of dollars a year, could care less about the common guys, yet you all turn him into a demi God. I'd laugh if it wasn't so pathetic. I won't even bother going into Palin..enough said about her here already.

So..I wonder if the nomination of Mr. Steele, a moderate Republican, to head the RNC is the first...or last nail in the coffin for Sarah Palin and her fundamentalist ilk. May her political legacy RIP.
