Palin lying low during Washington trip

Alaska Governor Sarah Palin speaks at the meeting of the National Governor's Association in December.
Alaska Governor Sarah Palin speaks at the meeting of the National Governor's Association in December.

WASHINGTON (CNN) – Sarah Palin has firmly remained in the media spotlight since her bid for the vice presidency ended four months ago, but the Alaska governor embraced a decidedly lower profile when she traveled to the nation's capital this weekend.

The former Republican vice presidential candidate has scheduled a busy itinerary of closed-door events and face time with congressional Democrats and Republicans.

She also announced earlier this week she's making the 4,500-mile trek from Alaska to Washington primarily to attend the Alfalfa Club Dinner Saturday night - an annual closed-door roast of the nation's political elite.

But it's what's missing from Palin's schedule that is causing more than a few heads to turn. In a city that is ground-zero for national political journalists, Palin has not scheduled a single media interview or indicated she will hold a press conference.

I am not a US citizen, but I read and observe closely this CNN political ticker. It's interesting that when it comes to giving negative comments towards Sarah Palin or republicans, the number of comments is reaching high, sometimes in hundreds. But when it comes to democrats, especially to Obama, the comments are almost none. See the number of comments related to Obama's half brother who was arrested. Only 6 comments. Just an observation...

it is just amazing how all these liberals are saying palin lies my god look at obama cabinet members tell me one that is honest, half of them didn't pay taxes and then you have sen dodd and barney frank these two need to be in prison along with the crooks from wall st. clinton needs to be in prison for her crimes before she became a senator and hell she is secretary of state-bill piss her off and we will be in war with some country that wouldn't know what hit them. i am a register independent and i used to be a liberal until i grew up and realize there is right from wrong and then you become a conservative. you stand on your own two feet and support yourself and you don't have your hand out for something free you have your hand out to help someone in need. and remember you can only help those who help themselves.

What immature people on these comments! Grow up and let Palin be Palin. And about her family... don't bring her into it. They had nothing to do with the campaign, and they only reason they came up to the front burner, is because of the liberal media.

Interesting pattern here.... Palin supporters cannot spell or use proper grammar while insulting those that see through the vapid Governor's pathetic attempts to be relevant .... very interesting

I would like to ask a serious question here. For you writers who are defending Sarah Palin and calling the majority of this board's contributors "liberal idiots", what can you point to with 100% confidence as a redeeming quality about Sarah Palin? I mean, once you put away dogma and ideology and stop blaming the phantom "liberal media", what can you really say in defense of Sarah Palin? What value does she bring to the party? And outside of comedic relief, what value did she bring to the campaign and election process?

Why not? She never thinks or reasons before opening her mouth. She needs to go back to her village whe she can see Russia since she can't see it from here.

"Palin is traveling to Washington to lobby senators to approve certain infrastructure projects for Alaska in the economic stimulus package."

I am really, really confused. What happened to all her screaming about "not redistributing the country's wealth" and "socialism" and "thanks, but no thanks"?

And now she wants to go to the Alfalfa dinner mainly because President Obama will be there – the man she accused of "palling around with terrorists"?

What's that? Oh, there might be some money in it for her (state).

    Never mind.

Message to "Proud American" who should NOT be proud of her comment:
(quote) "If Sarah Palin really loved this country as much as she claims she would stay home, keep her daugthers legs closed and shut her mouth. Now that's what I would call really loving your country."

Should I judge your mother based on the ignorance and lack of decency that you just demonstrated in your comment? Keep voting for the left... we don't need your lack of insight and maturity on our side.

This comment is from the bottom of my heart.
In the many decades that I been in the US, never seen so much hate towards a person as I have seen against Sarah Palin.

Also, I have also noticed that this hate is given by people that by the way they express themselves show not only horrible manners but great difficulty in satisfying minimum standards of language comprehension and expression.

Also notice that their hate makes them incoherent and also oblivious to the many achievement of this extraordinary woman and leader.

The only consolation I get from this sorry group of people is to be cognizant that they only represent the bottom of society in regards to decency, citizenship and capability to function responsibly.

Where I come from, the husband is the head of household/family, where's Todd? Is there a possibility for him to ask her to just zip it? Is that asking too much for the head of the family? Who wears the pants here?

I'm not an american but the blogs here show the first impression Sarah has created in the minds of her fellow americans, dems and repubs alike....the lesson i have learn't is never let ambition take over ur brain that you become oblivious of what you are capable of or not.

The worst comments Democrats say cannot compare to those of some Republicans. Ms. Palin gets ridiculed simply because of her comments, especially the devisive ones. If she weren't so divisive, I am sure there would be less unflattering comments. Republicans who love her should listen really carefully to comments she made during the campaign. Acting "tough" but with those words really helped have her go back to Alaska, not DC.
