WASHINGTON (CNN) – Sarah Palin has firmly remained in the media spotlight since her bid for the vice presidency ended four months ago, but the Alaska governor embraced a decidedly lower profile when she traveled to the nation's capital this weekend.
The former Republican vice presidential candidate has scheduled a busy itinerary of closed-door events and face time with congressional Democrats and Republicans.
She also announced earlier this week she's making the 4,500-mile trek from Alaska to Washington primarily to attend the Alfalfa Club Dinner Saturday night - an annual closed-door roast of the nation's political elite.
But it's what's missing from Palin's schedule that is causing more than a few heads to turn. In a city that is ground-zero for national political journalists, Palin has not scheduled a single media interview or indicated she will hold a press conference.

I am so sick and tired of hearing and seeing Sarah Pain. She is the dumber than rocks, and you CNN keep putting everything she says and does for us to see, which is making you look and sound just as dumb.
Tell me about Sarah Palin when she knows where Iceland and Russia are in relation to Alaska.
But CNN had to give her a forum about NOT being in the media???
She's probably too busy hiding from Katie Couric
The media wasn't the reason she came to Washington. When are you people going to get over the fact the universe does not evolve around you? She had an objective, you weren't theobjective. Sorry!!!!!!!!!
LOL, if she decided to do an interview or two while in town the left would cry that they have heard enough of her. Now they are crying because she won't do an interview? Make up your minds!
Its b/c she can't answer a simple, straight forward question that Katie Couric asked of her: What do you read to stay on top of worldly events? I know, that was a trick question, and the liberal media had it in for her with such a "DIFFICULT, gotcha question." Hahaha. Shes many points shy of 90, which is considered average intelligence.
If she is avoidubg the press, then whuy give her any coverage?
Let this no one go!
"We turn them down for the most part. We say no, I'm not going to leave Alaska or I'll rarely travel outside of Alaska."
Prayerfully please, from her lips directly to God's ear!!!
Thankfully, we won't have to hear anything from her. The less the better. Hearing nothing from her for the rest of her life would be perfect.
We've seen Palin interviews. That may be a huge clue as to why she won't be granting any more interviews.
After the way the media has treated her it's no wonder she's telling them to kiss off!
Good for Gov Palin, keep them guessing!
Don't underestimate this woman. Her PAC allows her to travel without the use of Alaska money, thus eliminating one strike in the past campaign. Her PAC allows her to be her own lobbyist for Alaskans' multi-billion tax dollars. Guess she can't count on Ted Stevens to insert dollars for Alaska into the bills any more, and I suspect her "paid Washington lobbyist" is also gone. Why leave it to underlings when she feels she can present her own case? Not sure who's minding Alaska or her beloved children while she's gone, but hey, we're not allowed to worry about her children's welfare are we? If she doesn't give an interview, they want her more.
I do not see how she can reinvent herself enough to appeal to anyone but her base, but we probably were saying the same thing about Obama two years ago. The main difference is that Obama actually has ideas, can express them logically, and really does appeal to a broad group of people. If he somehow manages to save us from ourselves, no one will beat him should he desire a second term. But I bet the RNC throws Palin out there again and under the bus.
(And don't forget–Rush loves her!)
Whats the big deal she was in Washington for a dinner? I'm a Obama supporter, and i don't like palin, but i think people are having a lot of fun with her, and some of is downright mean!
Palin is wising up, Nobody is interesting in anything she has to say. The less she says the better and the faster she fades into oblivion the better.
Smart. She should stay away from lower 48 media until 2011.
That is the best news ever. I hope she stays clear of the media. I have no desire to hear anything about her ever again.
You must remember, Sarah is anti-Washington, so she'll keep almost completely silent. We'll have to wait until after her visit there before she "rears her head" again to speak.
Interesting. Perhaps she's trying to respect Obama's limelight during his first few weeks of the presidency. And perhpas she's even giving Senator McCain some breathing room in a town that he knows very well.
It's too early for 2012 campaigning anyway. At least she gets that - or so it appears for now.
What a shocker...
Has Sarah Palin ever conducted a successful media interview, especially one that will garner national attention? Not that I can recall, so it only seems logical that she would keep a low profile in DC. Attending a roast of the nation's political elite? I don't think the name Sarah Palin and the word "elite" should ever be uttered in the same sentence.
She will be over exposed by 2012. Have you notice that she has not stated any position on the stim package? Bet she is wondering what it is all about.
Why is the mean spirited media bothering this celebrity with annoying and difficult questions about the bail out plan and what not.
The economy will take care off it self , no need for socialist crap , right?
Rules and laws are only applied to regular folks , but the high rollers on Wallstreet do not need regulation, they know how to take care of busness without anyone overlooking them.
18 billion$ to reward them selves as a start , carry on with the reaganomics and do not ask Sarah any more about this issue.
Following questions allowed are matters concerning : Carribou shooting , People palling around with terrorists, and how Russia looks like from her house.
Well, this completes the set. She lied in every other situation, why not lie low? hehe What's she doing in DC with all us Northeast Liberal Elites?
CNN how about posting a comment?
Let her slink back into obscurity once again..We've all had a bellyful of Sarah Palin!!
Her treatment by media isn't the reason she's tuff, loves criticism, makes great stories. And she's not just at this event to see Obama she's there to rub elbows with elite for her next the Great I Am project.
