WASHINGTON (CNN) - President Obama called the Superbowl winners the Pittsburgh Steelers after their big win Sunday night, White House officials said Monday.

Obama started with the team's owner Dan Rooney. The two developed a rapport after Rooney had given Obama a game ball from the conference championship earlier.

The president also called coach Mike Tomlin, and the quarterback "Big Ben" Roethlisberger to congratulate them. He invited everyone to visit the White House.

Obama was rooting for the Pittsburgh Steelers and threw a bipartisan Superbowl party for the occasion.

Yeah! Oh Sarah Palin, you can stand in Philly and say, "Hey Pennsylvania, how about the Super Bowl Champions The Pittsburgh Steeler, she would be dropped kick back to Alaska.

Yeah it is pick on you Sarah Palin.

I am not a Steelers fan, but a Dolphin fan. I do live in Pennsylvania.

A union town and a union bought president. Of course Obama was rooting for them. If Mr. Rooney will not pay his taxes then maybe he could qualify for a cabinet position.

Just shows that Obama knows how to pick a winner, it's great that Pennsylvania has smacked Arizona twice in the last couple of months. I guess they just weren't ready yet for the Big leagues.

I think the reason why the Steelers won was the fact that President Obama was on their side. Good luck and President Obama did a graceous think to call and congrat them for winning. President Obama cares about this nation and the people. President Obama keep up the good work.
