Elizabeth Edwards plans new book

Elizabeth Edwards is writing a new book.

Elizabeth Edwards is writing a new book.

(CNN) - Elizabeth Edwards has largely avoided the spotlight since her husband admitted to an extramarital affair last summer, but the wife of former presidential candidate John Edwards is certain to draw headlines when she releases a personal new book this spring.

In Resilience, scheduled for a May release, Edwards will discuss how she's dealt with difficult moments in her life — like her husband’s affair, said the publisher.

"She would exhibit…remarkable grace and courage again when the very private matter of her husband's infidelity became public fodder," Broadway Books said in a release announcing the upcoming publication of the book.

Edwards has repeatedly declined to discuss her husband's relationship with campaign videographer Rielle Hunter.

“[Edwards is] one of the most beloved political figures in the country, and on the surface, seems to have led a charmed life,” said publishers. “In many ways, she has. Beautiful family. Thriving career. Supportive friendship. Loving marriage. But she's no stranger to adversity. "

Edwards is also expected to discuss her ongoing battle with breast cancer, and the 1996 death of her 16 year-old son Wade.

My, for a person that has requested/insisted on privacy, Mrs Edwards sure likes the publicity! Her martyrdom role of a wife married to an ambulance-chasing lawyer that becomes a failed politician, that tries to cover up an affair and subsequent child out of wedlock is a story normally only written by the National Enquirer! What she should do is stop coveting the sensational press coverage and fade back into private life. Also, she may want to think about marrying someone that's a litte more devoted than that fraud John Edwards!!!

She is a strong lady it is a shame how the men of the democrat party treat there wives. It is so sad how they treated Hilliary and the other woman of stood by there husbands when they were nobody's.

Who is getting the proceeds from the book? I think it's weird that she already has a book that includes the affair. In 10 or 20 years maybe, as part of a larger story of her life. But releasing it so soon makes it seem like the Edwards are trying to profit off of the interest in the scandal (if they are indeed keeping the profits). I hope the profits are going toward a deserving organization for women or something.

Although the public feels great sympathy for Elizabeth Edwards, it is also possible that Elizabeth Edwards doesn't need to write another book about her adversity or about her unfaithful, egocentered, idiot husband.
At this point the public could care less, since being fooled by such a sham of a marriage. Both of these people deceived the public for a very long time. She should have exposed her husban's betrayal then, not now.
Enough is enough. They should BOTH go away and live the rest of their lives however they so choose, but not in the public venue.

I can see why he was having an affair"

michael, you are an idiot; this woman has been taking treatment for cancer; her body and mind have been through a lot. Stop making ugly comments about someone who is very ill and trying to recover.

She is a beautiful woman, inside and out. Her husband knows this; he screwed up, is making amends, and their love will survive this.

She is in my prayers, as is her husband and family.

Sadly there are too many "Rielle's" in this world, they are a dime a dozen. It was a huge mistake he will live his life trying to overcome.

It is not remarkable or surprising in any fashion that some of you choose to completely take this article out of context or make it a political issue. She is a strong, intelligent, courageous woman. She has had much good and even more bad in her life. She has given more than she has taken from this world. She has handled the trials and tribulations with courage, grace and honor. There is so much to learn from Elizabeth Edwards.

Her first book was interesting, sometimes funny, sometimes sad, always touching and so very inspirational. I truly doubt that her new book was written for money. I believe she had much to share there are so many of us who will be able to learn from what she shares.

If the book does not interest you, do not buy it. But why be mean and insulting?

I'm amazed that some are commenting on Mrs. Edwards looks and linking that to her husband's cheating. That's a really low blow. The woman is dying of cancer; it's only the heartless that will look at a person like her and make negative comments. Meantime, some of you folks writing here are engaging in hot extramarital affairs. You can get away with it because you may not be public figures but please stop your hypocrisy.

Yea might as well make money off your husband's disgusting behavior. Privately supporting him and confiding in the lord doesn't fill the bank account

If you happen to read this don't let these idiots that have make hateful, awful comments bother you. You're better than they are. You're someone to be admired and you're an inspiration to all of us! If I had been through what you had I honestly don't know if I'd have the strength to go on, but yet you do that every single day.

My Sympathy for her pain and struggle.
I wont buy or read her book.

It has become a habit or rather a style to write books and make cash no matter what the subject is. Its a con scheme.

These politicians, their family, the celebrities, the big wigs on wall street have no vakues. The want to make some money.

    Shameless self promotion for money.

elizabeth edwards is a fraud. i shudder to think about what would have happened if she and john would have pulled this off, and won the democratic nomination prior to the fraud being revealed. that is the ONLY thing that would have cost the Dems the presidency this year

Elizabeth, I campaigned for and supported your husband, and though he hurt you I can't think too ill of him. Tell your story and let us know how to think of John. It's you that he hurt, and us he disappointed. I'll take my lead from you.

And this is news because.......? Don't get me wrong, I understand that she has gone through a lot, but there are a lot more people out there without the notoriety who have gone through much worse. And you can be sure, that some of them are in your neigborhood.

She would be believable if she would put out a press release outlining the nasty habits of her husband and tell us when the divorce will be final. Short of that she has no credibility.
