WASHINGTON (CNN) - The newly empowered Democratic majority flexed its political muscle Wednesday as the House of Representatives voted to expand a key federal health care program to an estimated 4 million additional children.
The 290-135 vote to expand the State Children's Health Insurance Program fell largely along party lines, with almost every Democrat voting in favor of the expansion and most Republicans voting against it.

Wow Republicans......you never seem to amaze me......you really don't have anything good to offer America huh. I bet if it was a vote to go to war in some poor country and kill countless women and children you would all vote "yes"! Wow!
Partisanship = death of the GOP. They don't seem to realize that not enough people to save them are going to blame the Dems. It's sad really. A lot of what the Republican party originally stood for has alot of merit, but they've apparently decided to elevate politics over policy and principles. RIP.

This makes me so proud that we are making sure our children have proper care. After 8 years of policies that made us look like a third world country. We are finally back on track.

I think parents should have to prove that they cannot afford health care for their children before they could drop private insurance to put their children on this. If they have a driveway full of 4 wheelers, satellite TV, the latest Wii and every other toy they wanted, then they CAN afford insurance for their children, they are just choosing not to. It's time to make people accountable to themselves and their families.

Exactly what are Republican for...? I find it difficult to believe they are all anti people children jobs... and only for banks and wall street. How could anyone justify in these times being against medical care for children... with so many joing the unemployment lines?

Good for the Dems on this one. It is the right thing to do - taking care of children. It amazes me how Conservatives want children born, even in the case of rape and incest, but once born, they couldn't care less about them.
Good thing you have us smokers around to pay for everything! Every time some liberal needs money for one of their socialist programs they raise the cigarette tax!!! How about raise the alcohol tax for once! I'm sure there are plenty of alcoholics around! All you have to do is look at both houses of Congress! Seems like everytime one of them gets caught doing something wrong they claim to have an alcohol problem and enter rehab anyway so..........................
What a waste. What a shame. In a time when Americans are hurting, the taxpayer now get to pay for illegal children's healthcare. Oh goody. It is time to put an end to paying for illegals in this country! Our pockets are empty.
