McCain lends a hand in Virginia governor's race

McCain will campaign for Bob McDonnell next month.
McCain will campaign for Bob McDonnell next month.

WASHINGTON (CNN) – Sen. John McCain will cross the Potomac next month to campaign for Bob McDonnell in the Virginia governor’s race, making him the latest prominent Republican leader to lend a hand in a campaign certain to draw national attention as the GOP seeks a much-needed victory this November.

McCain’s Senate office confirmed the visit, as did a McDonnell campaign official.

Bobby Jindal, Rudy Giuliani and Fred Thompson all campaigned with or raised money for McDonnell in 2008, nearly a year before election day.

According to McDonnell campaign manger Phil Cox, McCain’s former running mate Sarah Palin has also been offered an invitation to campaign for McDonnell, but nothing has been finalized. However, Cox said Palin staffers “have indicated the governor wants to help.”

Palin launched a political action committee last week called “SarahPAC,” which will allow her to travel around the country stumping for candidates.

McDonnell announced Tuesday he will step down from his attorney general post on February 10 to devote his attention full-time to the governor’s race.

He will face the winner of a three-way Democratic primary race between former DNC chairman Terry McAuliffe, former House delegate Brian Moran and state senator Creigh Deeds.

Bob McDonnell: RUN FROM THIS GUY AS FAST AS YOU CAN! The only reason he allies with Republicans is so he can use them for his own purposes and then stab them in the back later when they are no longer of use to him. (Just ask Sarah Palin.)

McCain is trying to show he's a viable member of the GOP again. Had he remained a 'maverick' and not chosen Palin, he wouldn't be floundering within his own party.

Funny that the republicans need the whole national party to win a state election.

John, i am so disappointed in you..considering I gave you the benifit of the doubt after your wonderful concession speech..
Yesterday, while you were busy encouraging others to reject the Stimulus bill..i personally had two family members affected the by the state of our country....both were laid off...both with families to care for, one even his own parents to care for in addition to his immediate family. So John, I think it's more important right now for you to go over the bridge, get back into DC and work on a viable stimulus bill ...eventually this will catch up to your own job..and what will you do then?

Why listen to him? He's a traitor (publicly said in one of the Pres. Debates "I know how to catch Bin Laden", but doesn't want to tell Obama, because of jealousy. He made the worst VP selection ever, which makes him even more stupid than G.W. Bush himself, because Cheney may be evil and a crook, but his IQ is ten times higher than that of the Alaskan bimbo, who acts and talks like a 10-year-old kid. When McCain made his VP pick last year, he lost credibility to all Americans with a brain, so anything he says now is 100% useless. I hope he's replaced as senator soon, and goes away forever.

Hopefully, John and Wolf-woman Palin will help McDonnell as much as they helped themselves. Does the Wolf-woman not have a regular job?
By the way, John is experieneced at "putting everything on hold" and rushing off to rescue something.
