(CNN) - He’s not getting a West Wing office, but Obama campaign manager David Plouffe is still getting rewarded for the president’s historic victory: after a major bidding war, he’s scored a book deal that reportedly falls in the seven-figure range.
A source close to Plouffe confirmed that the Obama advisor has reached a “lucrative” deal with Penguin Group imprint Viking for "The Audacity to Win: The Inside Story and Lessons of Barack Obama's Historic Victory," to be released next fall.
The publisher said in a Tuesday statement that the book will offer an insider perspective on the historic campaign, including "the deliberations about whether to run against long odds, the epic primary battle with Hillary Clinton, the drama of the general election campaign against John McCain and the strategic roads taken - and not taken ...”
The book will also be marketed as a business handbook, laying out the “ lessons to be learned from the formation and the functioning of an unprecedented $1 billion start-up - use of technology, crisis management, grass roots, and personnel management."
Plouffe was represented by Washington attorney Robert Barnett, who has helped nail down book deals for high-profile political clients like President Barack Obama and former President Clinton.

i wonder if he'll pay taxes on the income.....
good. he did an awesome job in the campaign.
Sounds interesting!
It's very easy to raise money when you disable all credit card verification systems for on-line contributions. Too bad the press was/is asleep at the wheel, and never once looked into this. Why did the Obama campaign maually disable the AVS security checks? Has anyone in the press asked Mr. FluffnPluff this? Journalism is dead.
I'd buy that book immediately when it comes out. If I could learn those strategies that Plouffe used, especially in the areas of fundraising, I'd be set for life. Please detail in the book Plouffe how to raise capital like how you raised
Hold out for 8 figures dude...the publishers know that book is going to fly off the shelves.
Oh the hypocrisy. Obama and Barney Frank want to impose pay limitations on not only CEOS of companies who took Bailout money, but they are also thinking about imposing pay limitations on CEOs of ALL American corporations. That is insane. Why should the government tell a business how much to pay it's employees? Shouldn't Obama cap Plouffe too? $1 million for a book deal? Isn't that excessive? These liberals are already ruining this country
yeah...now that he sold the country down the river, he'll write a book about it. He's a disgrace to this nation. He managed a sea of corruption, sponsored by ACORN and countless illegal contributions from abroad to gain access to millions to fund the largest and most untruthful propaganda campaign of our time...and too many people, who wanted to hear something nice, ...such as "Change, Hope," bought into it....however, they laziness to dig into the facts, and lack of understanding....convinced them to vote against the very ideals and principles this country was founded on....and elect a false prophet.
Thanks libs, for destroying the country!
People like this should be taking pay cuts and Putting the money into the Economy
Uh...David...could i be so bold to ask...can I get the fist signed copy?
you did a great job......almost Sampson like!
Meanwhile, McCain's campaign manager is working on a book entitled "How Not to Run A Campaign."
WHAT NO MORE 100K GRANTS TO THAT RACIST PRIEST YOU ARE FINACIAL DIRECTOR FOR? THIS IS JUST ANOTHER SLEAZBALL CHICAGO INFLUENCE PEDDLER.
Good grief David, do not give the repubs a roadmap on how to be inclusive!
Oh, never mind, the neo-con rednecks would not believe it unless the RNC head official Lush Limprick gave sanctioned it!
I'm definitely excited about this book!
Alternative Title: How to spend other people's money and make them happy you spent it....and then keep spending, and spending, and spending.....ya know these folks are STILL asking for money.
Every Republican will buy this book!!
I'll buy it. Guy is a political genius. Very interesting to hear the behind the scenes stuff that resulted in this historic win.
Bet it sells better than Palin's.
Just as you would expect. Cash in on success; even though it gives away political trade secrets that could be used against President Obama in 2012. It's like selling the playbook.
So! Just another book I won't buy.
After leading a virtually unknown Senator into the White House, I'll bet this book is bought by a lot of analysts...for the Republicans. Some of them STILL don't know what hit them in November!
He definitely deserves a book deal, I am surprise that President Obama has not appointed/selected him for some cabinet position. Mr. Plouffe is hands down a BRILLIANT MIND/MAN!
Way to go David! I hope he makes a fortune. He is brilliant and ran the best political campaign in history.
Noah,
Where did you get the idea that the executive pay limits apply to companies that don't take a bail out? Not true.
David ran a brilliant campaign. Not taking anything away from him or President Obama, this election win must be credited to the Bush administration. Is it possible that Bush took the country in this direction on purpose? Hmmm.
