Students line up at the official ceremony to unveil the Barack Obama Elementary School sign.

(CNN) - Students at former Ludlum Elementary School made history when their school became the first in the nation to be renamed after President Barack Obama. It’s virtually unheard of to name an educational institution after a sitting president. Students and parents gathered for the official name change ceremony Wednesday morning where the “Barack Obama Elementary School” sign was unveiled.

During the campaign season, the children became interested in the election, participating in mock presidential debates at the Long Island elementary school - which sits in close proximity to Hofstra University, the site of the final presidential debate.

They began the movement to officially change their school’s name to honor the 44th president. Following the election, the Hempstead School Board voted unanimously to adopt the resolution after students read their written requests to make the name change permanent.

After the inauguration, all 466 students received navy sweatshirts from the school with the words “Yes We Can” emblazoned in English and Spanish. The school is roughly 60 percent Hispanic and 40 percent African-American.

President Obama was invited to the ceremony, but was unable to attend.

Folks, "hope" and "optimism" are not virtues wholly owned by Mr. Obama. People act like this is the first time anyone has had hope or optimism in their life. Blaming Bush for your lack of hope or optimism (or all of lifes regular "challenges" for that matter) is a stupid crutch.

SuperDuperIndependent   February 5th, 2009 6:55 pm ET

I am all for education and even naming schools after good role models (although this is very subjective). But to rename your school after Obama within a few weeks of his election before he has done anything of merit (getting elected doesn't count) seems a little premature. This appears to be just another group of "converts" to the Obama fantasy. Obama, so far, is pure rhetoric. Looks like these kids aren't getting a very good education after all.

I am an independent voter who despises the right wing GOP and the Hyper-Hypocrite Democrats.

Joe   February 5th, 2009 6:55 pm ET

Let me guess, this school is mostly african american. Am I right?

Good Luck to Them   February 5th, 2009 6:53 pm ET

I see in so many post that the name of the school doesn't matter. If the name doesn't matter, then why not "Charles Manson Elementary"? He may be the first president who is half-black but he has still not proven himself in office yet. I've seen firsthand how naming things after people can backfire when they end up being not so "great". OK, I know I've probably ticked off some people so go ahead and trash me. I'll be waiting.

This is CHANGE   February 5th, 2009 6:52 pm ET

THIS will be the cool/trendy community thing! Not to mention if cities want their 'stimulus', they need to schmooze the big guy by renaming a school or something for him! Way to go...Pay to play or just CHANGE???

Mr Magoo   February 5th, 2009 6:38 pm ET

Amazing. The same people who voted in bush twice now have a lot of negative things to say about President Obama. Before bush stole the President's chair from Gore, he was a failure at everything he tried to do. Once he became President he became the biggest failure in history, yet you idiots support him. Kids have a six sense, they can look at someone and tell if they are good or bad. bush was on vacation for most of his Presidency. At least President Obama is trying to fix the mess you republicans got us into. Why don't you all go to Alaska and hunt wolves or something.

Dave, IA   February 5th, 2009 6:30 pm ET

All schools should be named after Demo-craps. Just like the auto industry, UNIONS are killing our schools!

Sam   February 5th, 2009 6:29 pm ET

Ronnie Reagan, thankfully, is in a hole in the ground.

Sam   February 5th, 2009 6:28 pm ET

Dan...President Obama did not put us in any hole. He is trying to help us climb out of the very deep hole that Dubya "Nucular" Bushie put us in. That idiot can't pronounce single syllable words, and voters in this country trusted him to lead the nation. He couldn't lead a dog by a leash. I am incredibly thankful that the worthless moron has slithered off to Texas where he can't damage this country any further.

Barbara   February 5th, 2009 6:26 pm ET

I'm a lifelong democrat and I voted for Obama because I believed his message of change and hope after 8 years of Bush. However, after seeing what he has done since being in office (hiring tax cheats, trying to push this wasteful socialist "stimulus" package on us, turning up the thermostat in the WH while telling us to turn ours down). What a hypocrite!!! I hope you all are doing your homework into the “stimulus” package. A 1500 dollar tax credit for ILLEGAL ALIENS??? I'm having buyer’s remorse about Obama. I think we've been had and I’m really worried about the future of this country. I think one party in control is very dangerous (especially with the likes of Pelosi on the Dems side).

JT from Missouri   February 5th, 2009 6:20 pm ET

Jimbo from st. louis: What in the world are you talking about? If he was not legally supposed to run for president, the FBI would have told him not to run. I have no problem with Democrats or Republicans, but the stupidity of your comment is disgraceful, bigoted, narrow minded, short sided, and uneducated. Get over your sweet self and get behind OUR president. If he fails, this country is done for. I am 18 years old, and I want to go to college with a hope that I can get a good job. If this country fails by it's own people wishing it to fail, you can blame nobody but yourselves.

the most interesting phenomena that exists on these commentary strips is that it is living, breathing proof of the trouble our country is in! We live in times where being ignorant is something to boast about, and intellectualism is perceived as a weakness. Just spend one day in an American high school and you will notice that intelligence (and not just "nerds") is something that kids don't respect in each other. it's the kid who can run a touchdown or play a guitar who is idolized. our kids are products or ourselves and our society. look at the comments here...primarily racist, negative, and ill-informed. I'm a high school English teacher and have been for five years...and I'm baffled by the magnitude of idiocy which surrounds me. Not in an elitist way, but c'mon people! How "civilized" are you really?

My question is: Why are some commentators keep saying Barack Obama or Mr. Obama and not President Obama. They say President Bush who is no longer the President and also other past Presidents are given their respect. I think it is very disrespectful not to give the new President his title and refer to him as President Obama.

Thank you

I can't wait for the first city to change it's name to something honoring the current president.

That way, I know for sure that this Republic is truly dead, and the halfwits that voted for the name change represent the true fact of america...

Cacafuego   February 5th, 2009 5:38 pm ET

FYI: It's "tradition" to name public-funded buildings, etc. (schools, air ports, freeways) after Presidents after their term of office is over, but they can still be alive. However, it is forbidden to include them on official coins, money & postage while still alive.

Lunez32   February 5th, 2009 5:38 pm ET

"There are republicans on the hill that really would like to see Obama fall flat on his face."

I think every Republican wants to see our economy turn around, personal freedom enhanced and international crises avoided. Those aren't the things Obama is going after. He is focusing on his socialist domestic policies and nothing else. If Obama's plans are implemented, the country will be in serious trouble. Socialism doesn't work, Republicans want to see his attempts at instituting socialist policies fail. That's the failure we want to see.

Cacafuego   February 5th, 2009 5:24 pm ET

Our ancestors (or at least mine) fought a couple of wars back in 1776 & 1812 so that our sitting government couldn't do anything like build statues to themselves, put their likenesses on stamps & money, and name everything after themselves, WHILE THEY WERE IN OFFICE. Afterwards, fine. The only countries where this happens are those with monarchies and dictators. Cults of personality are dangerous things–just as Argentina, Russia & most of Africa.

Matt   February 5th, 2009 5:19 pm ET

It's ok right wingers, don't be bitter....I'm sure George W. Bush Middle School is next. :)

Matt   February 5th, 2009 5:19 pm ET

OK to all the people saying it is OK to do this since they have done the same for Reagan or Kennedy need to understand one thing. They are dead. These were for the most part honors given to them after they have died. Only the changing of Dulles Airport happened while Reagan was alive but his was in his "slow goodnight" at that point in his life.

Naming this after Obama is insane at this time. If he fails it will be like Enron Park and you will not be able to change the name fast enough. This has nothing to do with Barack or hating on Barack. That is not the point.

It is the deification of him by others. the clut of personality that surrounds him. That is why doing this is wrong. Hitler did the same things.

Rachel   February 5th, 2009 5:17 pm ET

Pretty soon, they're going to name a church after Obama. 53 million people will be bowing at the Altar of Obama.

I have to agree with a lot of the people on here who say this man has not done anything. Putting his name on a school is just another example of the people treating him like a star. Wait for him to actually do something before you start mindlessly praising him. I know that is hard for a lot of people to imagine though...since that is all they have done with this man.

Sadly, the hateful people posting here are cowards posing behind the guise oif conservative patriots. Diva, quit spewing racism. You named many fine black people who have done great and given us many wonderful things. The trouble is not every black person is to be admired. Rev. Sharpton, O.J. Simpson, Idi Amin (just to name a few) are DEFINITELY not to be admired. So, how would you like me to start naming great white people who have done so much for everyone and given us so much just to point out that nothing should be said negative about a white man. That's what you state when we shouldn't say anything bad about President Obama because he's black. Well, maybe, just maybe, we would be saying the same negative things about him no matter what color he is. We are complaining about a MAN who just HAPPENS to be black. Not saying it because he IS black. Think before you post.

Don't you think your god would be rather angry at the hate you are spreading?

Some of you need to really look into your souls/hearts/whatever and find out what really matters.

IF you could STOP HATING you may be able to start thinking. When has a group of children felt so empowered to make change? Having given these youth, the next generation, a positive goal to work together and complete, they now feel included in a system. When one feels included, when one feels like they CAN make a difference. Apathy disolves and progress moves forward.

Most of you apathetic haters need to disolve and let this next generation be empowered to improve your fear-mongering system.

I would hate to have them read any of this unnecessary, bitter-filled commentary from those less than noteworthy.

God Bless America and thank Him for our freedoms as we know them!!!!

Judas Watcher   February 5th, 2009 3:59 pm ET

The comment below is a contradiction between how Obama views the faith-based initiative and its need to address tough questions verses how little oversight he wants on a 800+ million stimulus bill. What a hypocrite.

Obama found that one of the problems with the previous Initiative was that tough questions were decided without appropriate consideration, data, and input from different sides, the officials said.

Rob   February 5th, 2009 3:54 pm ET

Let's see, naming, schools when he's accomplished NOTHING, writing op-ed pieces trying to scare us. Going to have a prime time new conference where he'll do some more bullying. How long until he starts convincing the American people that all our problems are because of a certain nationality/ethnicity? How much longer til we're wearing brown shirts and burning books he deems against the cause.

You know, we're all thinking he was going all Neville Chamberlain with regards to the terrorists, maybe he means to take another approach.

@ – Abby – February 5th, 2009 1:48 pm ET

The kids asked for this. Good for them!

Are you for real? The kids are 10 at the most, and are parrots for their entitlement-draining parents...who are home making more kids for the American Tax payers to support. This was one of the stupidest things I've seen yet, net to Obama Girl....and the ignorant "hope" picture CNN's sporting....all for an unproven, and questionable guy.

DJ   February 5th, 2009 3:42 pm ET

Also, if the kids are allowed to name their schools now, watch out for Hannah Montana Elementary and Joe Jonas High.

Amber   February 5th, 2009 3:39 pm ET

OMG........give me a break!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

DJ   February 5th, 2009 3:34 pm ET

I'm as big a fan of Obama as anybody – but I've gotta say, I think it's nuts to name a school after a president who's been in office for mere weeks.

Yes, he's the first black president. Yes, regardless of what's to come for him (and us), it's historic. But what if he turns out to be a seriously horrible president? A horrific mess – like Bush or something? Then you've got a school of all things named after him. Yes, he's an accomplished American, and maybe that's the justification. It's not like his resume was blank before he became President. BUT ... it just seems that his era is really only beginning, and to bestow an honor such as this on him at this stage seems ill-advised.

Dan   February 5th, 2009 3:34 pm ET

This guy does not desrve his name on any school. He has done nothing so far and he has put us in the hole and we are going deeper now because he does not know how to lead. His advisers are busy to get their pay-check. They do not care for our nation.

Pant wetting liberal   February 5th, 2009 3:33 pm ET

As a good little pant wetting liberal, i think its GREAT that we named a school after someone who has been president for a month. I wouldn't dare say otherwise, I would be racist then and would have to go hate myself. Go Obama!!! I am your sheep, lead the way!!!

Ken   February 5th, 2009 3:31 pm ET

This is really stupid! Why is the media even giving this air or print time? This is truly a joke gone bad!

WHAT IS NEXT?????

tennisguypitt   February 5th, 2009 3:31 pm ET

Holy cow, there are so many haters here.

Stupid, stupid, stupid. You will never hear me complain about naming places after a president I didn't approve. I didn't like Ronald Reagan too much, for example.

To all bloggers like BH, RIP America, Whine whine whine: Have you ever noticed you are the ones who say "Messiah Worshipper", I can't think of any dem who would do that!

I'm guessing that some of these bloggers are 10 years old.

Gerda Edwards   February 5th, 2009 3:31 pm ET

The school administration is absolutely irresponsible.

Pres Obama has done NOTING except win some elections and publish some books. His primary accomplishment while in the Senate was winning the Presidential election.

I guess this is consistent with no longer keeping score in baseball, banning red pens in grading homework, and the myriad of other liberal tactics to dumb down the importance of actual performance.

bill   February 5th, 2009 3:30 pm ET

Cool! I want to name my street after him!

Charlize   February 5th, 2009 3:29 pm ET

Looks like a publicity stunt to me. Right now, it must be the most known elementary school in the country, and probably in the world. Let's see if their students become successful and productive just as Obama, or it's just a shallow use of his name.

What is wrong with the school being renamed after President Obama? Some of you folks complain about everything. Problem is you need a life, I mean a real one. Bush...however, that is typical liberal democrat mindset...don't investigate, don't learn...just believe what is written on blogs and left wing message boards...believe rhetoric by a man with no experience....believe that "Republicans are evil and stupid"

Yeah that is why they tend to me upper middle / upper class...because they are so "stupid" oh wait not, those republicans aren't stupid, they are "greedy" the stupid ones are the ones that aren't rich and go to church....right I got it now. God this poor poor country...

This is no surprise to me. I just wasn't sure what they would name after him park, library, or school. To those that say its undeserved your being foolish, Anyone that can stand up to your undying hate and indifference and beat you in presidential campaign is a winner in my book.

However those of you with constructive criticism should teach your whinier counterparts why acting like a brainless party line fools will never help them.

Bush was trashed because those with constructive criticism made there case it had nothing to do with the brainless party line fools they just got to reap the benefits. The hard work was done by smart independents, conservatives and liberals Oh Wait the hard work was done by Americans. Congratulations President Obama

Who cares if he hasn't done anything? HE'S THE PRESIDENT! THE FIRST AFRICAN AMERICAN PRESIDENT! That is enough of an achievement to have a school. Does W deserve a library for all the great successes he's had as a president? I think not! Both him an Cheney should be brought up on charges of for war crimes and misleading the american people into a war that caused the loss of over 6000 us soldiers and 100,000s of iraqi civilians over what? not the idea of democracy as they would like us to believe but oil. If it was democracy why weren't they putting pressure on saudi arabia, or pakistan what about cuba? gime me a effing break!

Wrong. The airport in Houston is named after him. It's one of the worst airports ever.

American   February 5th, 2009 3:12 pm ET

This is just a sign of how unintelligent so many Americans are. Naming a president after an untested president.

What would happen if they named a School after Richard Nixon and few months after he was elected...hmmm....

Come on guys, everyone knows its the Obama mania with the looney left and we will be laughing in 4 years when this guy is a total failure.

Considering the first few things he has tried to accomplish, this failure label may come sooner rather than label.

Yeah, "hater" that is what we should call people who disagree in politcs you ignoramous...god what has our country come to...

Remy   February 5th, 2009 3:10 pm ET

Renaming school is the wishes of the parents and not the children. This is a good perfomance of American Citizens. Many Schools in Canada renamed after the S/African leader Nelson Mandela. Americans created History by electing President Obama. Historical events need more land marks!

december   February 5th, 2009 3:09 pm ET

I'm pretty sure an overwhelming majority of you have no affiliation with this school or its attendees. If that community wants to name their school after President Obama, let them! Who really cares what the rest of the nation thinks about this??

You're not attending and your children won't be either!!

Hey they did it for STALIN, they did it for LENIN, they did it for his cousin Sadam Hussein, Castro, and even Chavez is having statues put up.

I think it is a great idea. We could have a Barak Square in the center of every town. Put that in the stimulus bill.

Sniffet.....

That is a real pretty list that you prepared. But lets look at some of these "accomplishments"

1. Close Gitmo (but I have no plan to accomplish it)
2. Reversed abortion decision (well...that is up to each individual if that is an accomplishment or not....guess what...I bet there are some Americans that don't wish their tax dollars to fund abortions for other countries)
3. Ordered DEP to consider higher emission standards. (well that is like me ordering my bank to lower my credit card rate....yeah they may consider it....but since I haven't given them a plan to do it....well)
4. Set ethical standards for administration employees....u r kidding me right? Its a great idea to set standards...every president does that.....but when you have a grand announcement and are appointing tax evaders.....well....
5. Widespread approval for his cabinet.....yeah I would take another poll on that one....not sure everybody new the criminals he is appointing.
6. Schipp....great well he raised taxes on cigaretts by 70 cents a pack....guess who smokes the most....you got it ....poor people....not exactly helping the poor like he promised.
7. Get us out of Iraq.....ummmm....perhaps you should have read the news in September or August....the Iraq withdrawl agreement has been signed by President Bush and The Prime Minister of Iraq.

Nice try though

Matthew Detroit   February 5th, 2009 3:06 pm ET

This is complete idiocy! This president has yet to prove himself capable of anything! Let's go 4 more years and then evaluate if he has done anything to merit an honor like this. Also, taxpayer money is paying for this school. Swaying these children one way or another politically is completely unconstitutional. If this were an all white school swaying the kids to be completely for a white Republican president during his first 2 months in office, there would be an outcry of "racism" and "bigotry." I guess racism and political indoctrination of children is OK, as long as the shoe is on the left foot. Oh, and I will be shocked if this comment gets posted. That would be fair reporting, which just isn't done these days.

Writing books for children about "Good kid who became the head of the state"
This is how it start ,and believe me it's not a figure of speech and I am not a republican,I simply lived in USSR for 25 years of my life,so I know what I am talking about.

Way to early to start naming things after Obama (probably why the school system is in such shambles). I wonder how many schools changed their name to Nixon during the first weeks of his presidency.

He's proved himself just fine. This is very sweet. Those kids know they can grow up to be anything they want, even if they aren't white & rich.
He won North Carolina in the election. He won Indiana. For an African American Democrat, he beat some pretty incredible odds.
It's touching to see these kiddos so inspired. And their inspiration is really a lot more powerful than anything these clown commenters can say.

Reversed the GOP's restriction on foreign aid that prevented education of people about abortion as an option (i.e., because it violated the idea of informed consent).
Ordered DEP to consider tougher emissions standards.
Set ethical standards and required ethics classes for employees of his administration.
Appointed a cabinet that, despite what the few naysayers regurgitating Rush's talking points say, is getting widespread approval.
Spearheaded an economic stimulus package, which again, despite the blabber of the Rushtards, was done in an historically bipartisan manner because he sought out and met with GOP leaders directly in hopes of getting their support.

Well, I was expecting kids and dogs to be named after him, but certainly not a school–not yet anyway. Most often those things are reserved for people who have passed away or were killed in a military action of some kind. Even Martin Luther King had to be dead to get streets named after him! Give me a break and quit shoving him down our throats!!

TjayeInLA   February 5th, 2009 2:28 pm ET

Those chidren are learning about politics in the best way. They have a president in front of them that they see as respectable, admirable, and someone to aspire to be like. We haven't had that since JFK (some of you may say Reagan – I personally disagree). I can't believe you people so tortured inside to see our children looking at their country and their president as GREAT!

Funny how you bitter unhappy Republicans assume that anyone who supports PRESIDENT OBAMA must be deciding based on feelings and not facts. Apparently, the FACTS that we use are discounted because in your minds...if we had the facts, we'd have to see it YOUR way. We ALL have the facts in front of us; we all just come to different conclusions as to whether we agree or disagree with them.

August   February 5th, 2009 2:27 pm ET

I totally disagree with this, he has not done anything yet! Isn't this usually for someone that has done something? And from where I'm sitting, looks like he could be in for some rocky road ahead.

It shows how incredibly short shighted you are. Of *course* it was done because he is black. As the first black man to achieve the nation's highest office, he is empowering to the black youth of today. You have a problem with that? Please explain.

He HAS inspired millions in this country and the world. It is as plain as the nose on your face that the parents, teachers and students at the school believe so they made the change. I'm sure it has just made them prouder to go to school, get an education and become a contributing member of society. Just like the American dream the majority of Americans share.

maeve   February 5th, 2009 2:16 pm ET

Geesh. What a bunch of complainers here!

Look on the bright side:

the kids are allowed to feel that they're in tune with their national community, and peripherally, their peers (the Obama girls are elementary shool aged),

they can feel their school reflects the positive strivings of the biggest "star" they've knoiwn about in their young lives,

and at least the new moniker doesn't incorporate name of someone much less admired: The Larry Craig Elementary School anyone?

But I don't think you will. You are so brain-washed by this image and falsehood that is Obama that you'll never say anything against him. Do yourself a favor, stay clear of the koolaid.

The yutz hasn't done ANYTHING yet, and there are fools out there proclaiming him the Holy Savior. Putting out CD's inspired by him. Naming schools after he's been in office less than a month.

I think this is great. Obama has done well so far. The left is criticizing him for doing too much for republicans. The right is criticizing him for doing too much for democrats. Sounds reasonable to me and the rest of the 60% in the middle. When you have a community that is nearly 100% democrat, what do you expect, they hope Obama will be a good president. That's a good bet. One I'd take. I'll bet anyone $100 that Obama will be judged by history to be a better president than his predecessor.

Nate   February 5th, 2009 2:13 pm ET

Come on mike, I guess 54 percent of the population is "truly lost"? drama king? use your head.

Danah, MI   February 5th, 2009 2:12 pm ET

Well, I think it's great. But I don't know if this is the first school. I read another article about an elementary school in Florida that renamed the school after Barack Obama. So I think I would check the facts.

However, this is just the beginning. I think it's would be an honor and a priviledge to have a school named after you–so early in your administration. I'm sure Barack is flattered.

No, he's not God, but he God-driven. I believe God saw the suffering of the American people and the selfishness of the Dems and the Republicans in Congress. He also saw the the pathetic way GW was running this great country in the ground and sent Barack. He's the best man to do the job at the right time. Kudos to him.

Note To Kids: This is what happens when you do the right thing and become honorable adults. Barack is the perfect role model.

Now let's start naming schools after Michelle. She's a great role model as well.

patriot   February 5th, 2009 2:11 pm ET

I think the Obama worship is a little overboard, but I can understand it. Our country has been run horribly for a long time and our reputation worldwide has been ruined. With Obama, we have an intelligent, well spoken president we can be proud of once again. The whole world is excited about Obama, and even if all he does is clean up Bush's disastrous mess, that will be a huge improvement.

Geeque - Chicago,IL   February 5th, 2009 2:10 pm ET

Ron   February 5th, 2009 2:10 pm ET

I think its a good idea, but they should have waited to do this. It is GREAT for the country and the President, he has mad some changes and will continue to do. All we have to do is PRAY for this man and ask GOD to show him the way.

Domenic from Montreal, Canada   February 5th, 2009 2:10 pm ET

Hey! Hey! Relax, it's great to name a school after the 44th President. Even if he is still in office and even if it's only been 17 days of his presidency. Let's not forget who he replaced. When comparing President Obama to W., you get the sense that President Obama has accomplished much more in 17 days than what W. did in 8 years.

Baze   February 5th, 2009 2:09 pm ET

Like it or not you anti-socials, our president is a major icon of cultural revolution.

Come on...   February 5th, 2009 2:09 pm ET

I understand the points about him only being president a few weeks but I think naming the school after him is more about him being the first black president and to some people that is significant and it is clearly significant to a school where all of the students are minorities. It’s about the fact that the parents and teachers of these students can look at them and say "you can be anything you want to be if you work hard" and really mean it.

carlo   February 5th, 2009 2:07 pm ET

I really wish you people would s.t.f.u. Obama overcame a mountain of obstacles to become the first black president in this nation's history. Some of you losers refuse to give the man credit for anything. 67 million people agree with me.

I hope they keep the Ludlum Elementary School sign stored away in the basement as they may need it again in the future. This is a sad and terribly misguided move which sends the wrong message to children. Renaming this school for Mr. Obama is nothing more than Idol Worship at this point.

Canadian soccer mom   February 5th, 2009 2:05 pm ET

If worship is OK, criticism is OK too.

Anonymous   February 5th, 2009 2:03 pm ET

I believe this happened because his nomination as President is history and the words "yes we can" goes beyond just running the country, it says to these kids that if you put your mind to it anything is possible. Look past the politics, success, mistakes etc and look at his nomination as history in the making and accept the fact the a Black Man (1/2 white by the way) is President.

TCM   February 5th, 2009 1:59 pm ET

All 466 students received sweatshirts honoring obama...makes me wonder:
1. How many of their parents are working with ACORN
2. Who paid for the sweatshirts?
3. What if McCAin would've won, would they have changed the school's name...? No? Because he's done nothing? Hm...and Obama has?

This is simply typical of the shallow, liberal mindset.
