Obama plans primetime press conference Monday night

WASHINGTON (CNN) – President Obama will hold the first official press conference of his presidency next Monday night, February 9, two weeks earlier than President Bush held his first White House press conference eight years ago.

Obama is also slated to speak to a joint session of Congress on Tuesday, February 24, in what is being described as his first State of the Union address. The White House says he will submit his first budget to Congress by the end of this month or the beginning of March.

Obama better not come on during 24! 24 must not be pre-empted!

Remember, Cheney is the consummate manipulator. His latest interviews reveal the real Cheney: HE was President the last 8 years– not Bush! It’s almost as if he’s daring terrorists to attack the U.S. so that he can prove that HE will be viewed as a better leader than Obama. Pathetic man…

The GOP is the party of "do nothing" and "no ideas" and "no planning". Power is all they want and will try to stop anything from being created to help get through this crisis. These are the same people who started a war and underfunded it and were surprised it did not go well.

Hmmm....sit through an infomercial dressed up like a press conference or read a good book. I'll take the book. I might learn something helpful that way.

Do your thing Mr. President. Please don't give any thought to the critics and haters.

Is it just me, or does Obama's recent comments seem patronizing? He's looking like President-Lite. If he was indeed the best choice in the last election, shouldn't he be talking to Americans as opposed to speaking to their fear?

Quickly, and I mean quickly, Americans are getting their first real world view of the golden song bird.

Those who think this is funny should think long and hard about about the white elephant Iraqi jail built with U.S. taxpayers dollars (ours) to the tune of $73 million (40 of which have been paid out under Texas cowboy's watch). Where are the inmates? Laughing at the empty shell.

I suppose the Repugs on this blog thought the President to could this foul mess in a week. He's good, but he ain't that good.

Now if you repugs could have been this vocal when Louisiana was under water, Bush was starting an illegal war, When Bush thoroughly plundered the entire US treasury, when he sent your sons and daughters to die for nothing. When Bush lays claim to being a "National Security" President; however, the only time someone flew three full jetliners into the Twin Towers and the Pentagon was when HE (BUSH) was in office?

I just don't get why you can't see that. You've lost all credibility with the crooks you supported blindly. And to top it all off, (I can't stop laughing), you wanted the rest of the world to actually see Sarah Palin as a viable VP candidate.

    ROTFLMAO

Now it's your turn to shut up a wait.

    Nuff said.

    @ Dan in TX,

If the GOP thinks the sky is falling then why are the DEMS pushing so hard for this crap bill?

It is also interesting to point out that there are several DEM senators who do not want the bill in it's current form.

The fact of the matter is OBAMA = O in his first two weeks of office and the DEMS no longer have the GOP to blame because they are the MAJORITY!!!! Rember what Pelosi said " We won they lost" or basically we can do what we want.

Come out of fantasy land Dan.

Mike in Houston you are 100% Correct!

because Democrats have open minds and can actually listen to different opinions and not want someone to fail which will affect all of us! that was said by some fool named Optimistic 09.

That is such a joke its not funny. How about the Iraq war? How many Democrats and better include Obama in this one as saying we were losing the war and need to pull out our troops. Wow such open minds. By the way how that war turning out dem-wits?

And how about us having a strong economy until Democrats took over congress and we got high gas prices and our economy in the tank. Good one there dem-wits.

And need I point out Barney Frank and his pals at Fanny Mea and how they gave away loans to people that could or would never pay them back.

Again dem-wits don’t seem to remember all this and I guess because of such open minds we are where we are today. Thanks dem-wits for all your worthless help.

    @ Optimistic 09,

Dems not tear Bush apart? LOL, where have you been the last eight years? The Dems showed him no mercy what so ever. I agree he has not been the nations best president but come on. He deserves alot of credit.

Bush kept another terrorist attack from happening here and the fact is the economy didn't start to decline until Pelosi and the Dems won the 2006 elections.

Talk , talk, talk, praise, praise, praise. Talk continues to come out of Obama's mouth and paise from his supporters. Action – NONE! Sick of hearing what he is "going to do". All of you are in la la land while the country is going down the tubes. All I hear is that "we need to do something" soon or else. Scare, scare scare!! This has been going on since last year and we are now in the month of Febuary and still NOTHING. Oh yes, it the Republicans fault because they do not want to accept the government take over package filled with pork that America is being presented with and that will take us down the toilet.

Over-reaching arrogance is Obama's style. Remember many politically savvy/expedient so called leaders have led people down harmful paths before.

It takes wisdom and virtue to be a great servant leader! Obama hasn't got it! This guy does not walk the talk but he sure can equivocate! :(

Wow, I guess that means Obama "won" the race to have a press conference the fastest. I guess the next President should have one on January 20th!

    Does Obama get a medal?

THE MESSAGE BELOW CAME FROM KEN:

At the present I see that there has been NO CHANGE in Washington. The politicians are still working for themselves and NOT for the American citizens.

Our borders are still open to ILLEGAL ALIENS and DRUG SMUGGLERS!

It is time for our government to start working for those that have elected them into office. Enough of this other crap!

    MY RESPONSE:

KEN: PRESIDENT OBAMA WAS SWORN INTO OFFICE ON JANUARY 20, 2009. TODAY IS FEBRUARY 4, 2009. JUST WHAT THE HELL'S KITCHEN DID YOU EXPECT TO CHANGE IN TWO (2) WEEKS?

  22. Silly democrat, paychecks are for workers

@"Optimistic 09 – Your true colors are showing you bitter Republicans! I don't seem to remember "W" getting torn apart like this by the Democrats back when he was elected and re-elected."

Are you serious???, you must have been stuck in a shell for the past 8 years, all you people do is mock bush, or try to find one thing wrong with him. Its funny because whatever obama does is good, even though its very likely bush did the same things, and no im not talking policies exactly so dont try to misquote me there. Its a joke the way you all treated Bush. Now im not saying that the way my fellow republicans are treating obama is 100% correct, but you have to be able to take what you dish, and disrespect and obvious disloyalty to the presidency is clearly what the liberals, and simple minded democrats had been preaching for the last 8 years.

You know for a guy that had a campaign slogan of "Vote for Change" and making a bold statement about getting us out of this economic slump that the country is in, Obama hasn't done much. So far he tackled the tough issue of pushing back the digital TV transition 6 months. Also, We have already given out Billions of dollars in stimulus packages and his bright idea is too put the country another 900 BILLION dollars in DEBT. Nice change!

  24. barack obama is still just B.O.

I know he's only been in office a little over 3 weeks, but it is already obvious that when Biden and Clinton talked about someone with his total lack of experience should not be president, they were right.

Not sure if he can overcome his horrific start.

At least he's making GWB look like a genius. I thought that was impossible 3 weeks ago.

I"m getting off this board because there is nothing new. The Dems hate the Repugs and vise versa. When will we learn that we are all Americans and that we only have one president. We need to get behind him or move to another country. I hear Iraq is a good place.
